Understanding Dashamsha?

Hello-

I recently purchased a bood on Vedic Astrology and software that gave me my Vedic Chart. It shows me my Dashamsha Chart and says this is where I will find success. I don't understand how to read it though. Can anyone out there assist?

hi dawn
dashamsa is actually splitting the houses by 10, (10 being the house of career), so that you can gauge the chart better, kinda refine it.
It might work, but there's not much work done on this.
Anyways you would see it as any other chart, but concentrate more on career, don't try to find relationships or love interest in a career chart.

Hi Sandeep-

I am specifically interested in career matters only. What comes up for this is the squares with the following in them:


Ve in the box pertaining to the 1st house;
Ma " 2nd house;
KeMe " 3rd house;
Su " 5th house
Ra, As, Mo " 9th house;
SaR, Ju " 12th house.

This is very different from what is in my natal chart. How do I use the above information to help indicate how I may experience success in my career?

Hopefully this isn't too too difficult to explain! Just a bit of insight would help as I'm getting nowhere with online searches.

Yes dawn
after creating the sadhamsa you get a new chart,
just interpret it as any other chart.
UNfortunately, very little information is available on this.
Maybe you can pm astrobhaduria..he's very experienced vedic astrooger and has been practicing for sooo many years now.
I think he has a site too

Hi Dawn, I shall try to help u out here.
The main chart should be seen for the work (karma) we do and whether we get auspicious results out of it (whether we will have a fruitful career or not). The Dashmsha is seen to get the finer details, i.e., where the person works (environment), how will this environment be, will he travel a lot, what specific field will he work in.
Now, coming to your main chart first, these were the noticable points which would affect your career/finance/work:
1. strong Jupiter is in 10th house signifying your career may involve some kind of teaching or preaching work or in some consultancy or something related to markets/finance.
2. Amatya karaka (significator of work) - Saturn, in own house in 6th and also in Jaagritha Avastha (state of awake), hence probably a very fgood career life.
3. Lagna Lord and also 10th house Lord Mercury who is also very strong is in 2nd house, which is house of finances/family, hence you earn through your career.
4. Very strong Rahu in 9th house in exaltation. This signifies that you may be travelling a lot in your life or may also signify that you might experience lot of changes in some aspects of your life, and these changes are always for the good.
5. 34 Rekhas in 10th house (house of work) in Ashtakavarga, 33 rekhas in 11th house (house of profit) - This signifies that you will have a very good career through out life and also will earn profits through it.

One interesting observation that I did was that your Atmakaraka (significator of soul) is in Ascendent and there are 35 rekhas in your Ascendent house, signifying that you are a person of high morals.

All these points signify that your career life is quite good. Infact if I am right, your life during 1989 to 1995 was very good (Sun Dasha). As your moon is in 8th house and having bad drishti (vision) to Ascendent, the moon dasha from 1995 to 2005 might have been average, with some mental tensions. The present Dasha of Mars from 2005 to 2012 is very good for you, you will earn money and fame and you will prosper in your career. The period of Rahu Dasha 2012 to 2030 will be excellent for you, you will travel world wide and will achive success and earn lots of money. All this analyses are from the main chart. This must be more than sufficient for you. But let us see Dashamsha chart to get finer details.

In your Dashamsha chart the Ascendent is again Virgo with Venus in it (in debilitation) and the 10th Lord mercury is in scorpio, the sign of Mars. This might tell us that you may be working in some kind of a technical or financial institution in some position related to paper work. As Saturn and jupiter are in 12th house (houses of expenses) and also as Mandi (bad subplanet) is in 11th, house of profits (mandi is in 10th house in Main chart), you might be facing some problems in your job (either financial difficulties or job-satisfaction). The last year 2007 might have been especially bad for you with respect to your job (some agonies, but nothing major). This is because Jupiter was in Scorpio in transit and scorpio is 8th house from your moon position in main chart. But this year (2008) is going to be outstanding for you, since Jupiter comes into sagittarius in transit and this sign is 9th from where moon is placed in your main chart. Hence you will be extremely lucky not only with respect to job but almost anything this year. Just pray to GOd and work hard you have a very bright future.

The bottom line is that your main chart tells so much about your career and life that its not worthy looking at the divisional charts. Divisional charts have to be looked for support in case we cant make out much from the main chart or if the main chart is weak. So, dont worry and be happy.
