what are your experiences with this fixed star? It is at the last degree of via combusta.. It is on my natal sun, interp is pretty negative

South Scale

This star, conjunct my wife's natal Moon in Scorpio, affected my wife's health through her life (via the Moon) and her transiting Jupiter joined with it to affect her in her final illness, leading up to the time of her passing (in January 2008) at age 57 years.
It is a quite disruptive Cosmic energy-every bit as hard as the more infamous Algol, which latter star has always gotten more "publicity" than the South Scale...I consider the South Scale indications given in Robson (Fixed Stars book) to be quite accurate...I saw them in action-through my wife's case-in my own personal life.

(Remember though that other factors influencing a planet in conjunction with a star, can modify or even cancel those stellar indications; in my wife's case, nothing favorable opposed her Moon/South Scale connection, nor did much counter influence her later Jupiter transit conjunct South Scale situation over her last year of life)

i'm verry sorry to hear that. her moon was 15 scorpio? i can imagine that would be very difficult with a debilitated moon

my saturn is at 16 scorpio in my 5th and it rules my 7th. my daughter's father has his moon at 15 scorpio. he is always battling for his health and losing money in business. his father wants nothing to do with him. having just figured that out, i feel kind of bad about being so harsh(saturn) about the losses.
what kind of aspects could soften the influence?

Certain planets are more sensitive to the influences of the South Scale than others: most susceptible of all are soft planets (Moon, Venus), Sun resists its influence to a great degree; Jupiter is also susceptible to it; Mars and Saturn, are more resistant to the influences, the stronger they are in the chart the less they are influenced by the South Scale; outers are only moderately influenced by this star.

Very sorry to hear about your wife and the death at such a young age.
it must be difficult to do this work and then realise the affects on your own family. Im sure you were able to offer her lots of support with herbs etc.

would this effect be negated by a saturn opposition.does that depend on the house. ie from 12th to 6th house?

A Saturn opposition would generally be beneficial (modifying), but the condition of that Saturn (whether strong or week in totality) would also make a significant difference.

Since it can only be 15 degrees taurus(as Zuben is fixed) then by condition you refer to aspects/house placing etc?with particular emphasis on venus in the chart?
