If a house is untenanted, then the sign on that house cusp has an influence on the affairs of that house, along with the ruler of that sign, its position by sign and house and aspects to it.

the Angles Asc and MC are very sensitive and can be aspected by planets within the chart, transits, solar arcs and secondary progressions. You can also look to see what the house cusp ruler is doing and how it's being affected..

Yes (traditionally at least, but also in the view of Modern authors like Charles Carter) the house cusp/sensitive degree can be aspected by a planet, Part, star; in ancient times, aspect by sign (rather than by degrees) was considered a valid method of delineation in Greek astrology (as late as the time of Rhetorius), and was sometimes referred to as "platic" aspect (I myself make use of this ancient concept); in Vedic astrology ALL apsects are calculated by sign ONLY (they never calculate aspects by degree); there is a lot to the issue of aspect to houses and aspects by sign-a forgotten/overlooked source of much delineative information for those with eyes to see what's right in front of them, in any given chart!

It's only 'house cusps' not houses per se and you would need a lot objectivity and analyse to search within your life and character to see if (where are/house) was being affected. Not a great idea for newcomers, but for more advanced students could be used to see exactly 'which house cusps' are being activated ie: placidus house system or Equal house system (my preference)
