Virtue of being self-absorbed?

so if i give someone a 100 dollars they'll give me 100 dollars back

seems like a waste of time

If someone needs 100 dollars to buy something they need right away, and you give to them, you're helping that person. Then, when that person, or someone else, gives you 100 dollars when you need it, it helps you. It's about the timing.

But what if I give someone a 100 dollars and they don't give me the money back. Besides, I always want my money back with interest.

The basic idea is, if you're generous with others when they're in need, others (not necessarily the same people you help) will help you out when you need it. "What goes around, comes around."

Then it'll be no surprise
when you must return loans made to you - with interest

Being a decent human being is a choice

You can make people give you stuff without being generous yourself.
you speak as if experienced with "making people give you stuff
without being generous yourself"
If you go robbing people with a six-gun,
eventually you'll be on the run.

Are you saying you never give anyone anything unless they pay you for it?
What about a friendly word when someone's depressed,
or good advice or information?
"a friendly word to someone depressed or good advice or information"
is undervalued
and taken for granted

No, people should give without a price.
you pontificate that "people should give without a price"

Well if it's just advice or helping someone and it makes you happy then I don't see a problem.

Money and just helping someone out are completely different. I want my money back. If I'm just giving you my advice, I don't expect anything in return because it was my pleasure to help you.

It's called manipulating people.

Jupiter, I work at a restaurant
and I have no complaints with the money I make.
They can pay me whatever they wish
because I chose to work there.
keep in mind
the underlying reason you can "not complain with the money" you make
is that
- crucially
you yourself said

Unlike most people, money isn't my problem.
so you can afford to "not complain"
and pontificate that
"they can pay me whatever they wish"
unlike the vast majority of the population

That is very true and you make an excellent point.

Fact is, many earn huge sums of money from giving advice
for example:
"How to succeed in Business" Advice is a huge money-spinner

HOWEVER
you, in common with many
while arguing that
and I quote:
No, people should give without a price.
nevertheless
insist
that
while you are entitled to expect people to give to you without price
you yourself must be paid

That is very true and you make an excellent point.
and FURTHERMORE
if
despite the fact
that "unlike most people money is not my problem"
you nevertheless crave to make more money

i.e.
Where's my paycheck.
I'm only hear to make a profit.
I hate my courses because they're boring.
I'm only eager
to do good in them for money.

I'm in school
because
I want money
.
That's all I care about.
I chose a computer science
to get an internship
to get a job
to make money.

then
it seems you are blinkered to the obvious fact that
most people to whom money IS a problem
and who are DESPERATE for money to just put food on the table
are not greedy
but are simply understandably keen to make money as a consequence of sheer necessity
