How do the planets affect us?

This is a bit of an odd question.

How do the planets actually affect us? Each of them.

For instance, we know that our moon influences tides via it's gravitational pull. The oceans closest to the Moon at any given time are "pulled" toward the Moon so this creates high tide. That pull is real. It's the effect of gravity and obviously it's been proven scientifically. So we are affected by the moon's gravity. But the moon is a moon, it's not a planet.

So what is it that effects us from planets? It is their surface gravitational pull (Jupiter is the strongest because it is the largest)? Their density (Saturn being the lightest)? Speed (Mercury is the fastest)? How many moons it has?

For instance, everyone is always talking about Saturn, it's such a "Strong" planet. So, what is it about Saturn exactly that effects us in so many ways?

If you compare it to Jupiter, who doesn't get quite as much attention, you will see that Jupiter is closer to earth, the largest planet, weighs more, has 39 moons (Sat has 33), etc.

In colloquial terms, Jupiter could whip Saturn's ***.

So what is it? What are the physical determining factors that the "personalities" of planets are based on?

I found a lot of info on the planets HERE

Thanks!

You seem to be asking *astronomy* questions and the site you posted is in fact that science.

Astrology is an *art & science* and is in my mind a 'separate' entity than just observations of stars, planets and distances. The more you study and research 'astrology' the more you should become intrigued hopefully......

Astrologer50,

Thanks for your reply. I indeed love astrology. I just began looking at the planets on other sites (astronomy) in order to help me understand astrology better.

I was trying to determine if there was something "Physical" about the planets which influenced us.

i believe the planets and constellations stars and galactic centre - all things astronomical influence us through a vibration that i do not know if it is electromagnetic or some other.....on two occassions i have seen piercing by a star - one to a man in a dream...dont know if it was the same star/ might have been a planet/ never thought then to find out which one, just took the psychological effect.

i also wonder whether the planets' vibration swims about like a ribbon in the wind and due to our natal sensitivities from our horoscope we pick up some vibration more than another. i also wonder whether they affect us molecularly.

i believe the angles and nodes ( havent studied much of the lots) influence us by innate behaviour.

what do you think?

Hi Poppy,

Pierced by a star? Never heard of that. Can you please tell me what it means?

There has to be some influence to our bodies from the stars/planets. If the moon can influence the tide and a myrad of other things, I just wonder what exactly it is.

I'm pulling towards gravity/magnetic fields. Perhapse it has to do with the physical composition of the planets. and their speed. This is what I think.

I will look around the internet some more and if I find something interesting, I will post.

pierced by a star - like a white laser beam - thinner than thread but really powerful; way more powerful than me and sharp. hard. i know what it means to me; i wonder if others have had same experience.

No one has been able to prove that any type of force, gravity included, is in fact affecting us by way of the planets. Some say astrology is simply divination, with no physical causes, and others are convinced that there is some undiscovered force that the planets emit which affects life here on Earth. Here is an article Google turned up:

I also highly recommend reading this article on the history of Western (Hellenistic) astrology, for a primer on the philosophy behind why astrology developed as a "science":

What it boils down to is "How does astrology work". I suspect it have to do with the electric universe of the body which has to do with the electrical field of the aura.

Insight can be helped by a study of Elwell's "The Cosmic Loom" and Landscheidt's "Sun/Earth/Man", both books availabe at astro-america.com and also from amazon...I do not agree with everything in these books, but I do agree with a whole lot of what they have to say, and I think about the possibilities of even more of the material presented in these volumes.
