My father's chart, he has lung cancer...

My father has Stage Four lung cancer, that has spread to his lymph nodes and adrenal gland. He smoked for 55 years and finally quit this past July when he was diagnosed. The doctors said he had about two years left to live...and he's been on chemo since July as well. It's shrunk the tumors slightly but has given him many terrible side affects, he can hardly walk now.

Does anyone see anything as far as his illness, maybe an indication in his chart that he would have this disease? I'm always curious that if in hindsight we can see our "fate" in our charts.

Does anyone see anything to come for him? I'm sorry this is so general, I know that makes a few people upset but I'm afraid to ask the specific questions I want to because some things I don't want to know...nor is it my place to.

I'm only 19 and he had me so late in life. I wish I could have shown up earlier.

Anyway I don't know how to post charts yet but his birthday is 9/18/42 at 6 AM, Smithers WV.

I could not read this and not reply. But as much as we all would like to believe in astrology, I do think you father's lung cancer has more to do with the fact he was a heavy smoker then anything astrologicaly related. :(

Lungs is ruled by gemini and your father has a Saturn-malefic there, but as I said, if he weren't a smoker, I doubt he would have problems with this.
And being fairly new at this, I still haven't learned where to look for smoking habit in a natal chart.

I am very sorry you, or anyone, having to go thru this, especially at your young age. I also recently lost a loved one from this horrible disease, so I do know how hard it is.
Maybe you could get some help here on the forums regarding progressions, transits, as to know what to expect, but I do not know much about this, I am sure others will help you more.

I'm so sorry to hear what you are going through.I hope you will all be strong to support your father through his journey.
Looking at his natal chart, I see illnesses in his life are ruled by Saturn-they tend to be long and hard to cure.Saturn is a hard (the hardest? )taskmaster of them all.
For the last few years Saturn has been transiting through your Father's twelfth house-this house reflects our self undoing-what we do that is against our best interests.When Saturn transits the twelfth it can be like reaping the ill effects of our past actions.
I see saturn is approaching your Father's North node....This aspect will exact around 12th June. Also chiron conjunct the Node and Neptune are transiting your fathers house of illnesses-house six and this cluster will be opposed to his natal chiron at the same time.
(Chiron is involved with *what wounds us*)
In your Father's Natal chart, the ruler of his house of illnesses is in his tenth, conjunct uranus but square his ascendant.This too afflicts the native with poor health. I notice Neptune closely conjunct the sun in his first house also so there would be a predisposition to smoking or being damaged by chemicals. As Saturn is in his tenth perhaps work has contributed also to his medical condition.
Transiting Pluto is also square your father's mars, and has been, on and off, for months...This can be very hard on the body, but also can give the native staying power.
On the 12th June also, transiting jupiter will be exactly opposed natal jupiter.
In your Father's chart Jupiter is the ruler of his fourth-the house that describes the end of life.
I feel your Father will have many forces opposing him at that time.
Mars is also making its way through your father's 12th house, suggesting involvements with medical people or hospitals...confinements certainly.
In the chart your Father's twelfth is ruled by the sun and the sun is in the first-health matters will be of paramount importance in the life of the native.
The proximity of the sun and neptune does indicate that toxins in the body deplete the health over time.

His habits are ruled by house 5 cusp-what he likes to do for pleasure.Saturn is ruler of that cusp also, reinforcing the idea that what he likes to do, hurts him.
However, with Saturn in the tenth-work and responsibilities I am of the opinion, that work also contributed to this situation.
I wish I could give you more positive news here but the transits facing your dad are very challenging ones.

lillyjgc, thank you for all you wrote. Excuse me for being dumb about this, but most of what I've studied is natal only. I know very little about transits. What's going to happen on June 12th...does it just affect that day or will it be there a while? Is it going to be the most strong around the 12th?

The neptune aspect of this is interesting to me too. My father was a smoker but he was also an alcoholic up until his early 40's...he was so bad he experienced DTs and had to he hospitalized.

And, also work did have something to do with some of this. He was a police officer and he had mental illnesses like panic disorder and PTSD (from Vietnam), before he even became a cop. He told me he used to escape by drinking and smoking, he refused psychiatric medicine for years.

He actually had stopped smoking for a couple of years when I was around 10 due to having to have heart surgery. But when his wife died (my mother), he started right up again.
