In your opinion, what is worse for an astrologer?

a) - To publish a prediction of a disaster/catastrophe that never happens or
b) - Failing to predict, through astrology, a major catastrophe (e.g.: the outbreak of an epidemic, a war, assassination, etc.)

In my own opinion, the first option would be terribly embarrassing, but I guess the second could destroy all confidence in one's skills and the Art. What do you think?

I think it's a catch 22

Oh my. For what it's worth, I worked on the ethics committee for a church that had a similar question about prophecies. The church was a nightmare, so I don't know that I would advocate their opinion, but I can tell you what the Chrisitan bible says (again, for what it's worth...)

If a person gives a prophecy of destruction, but it doesn't come to pass, the prophet should be forgiven because many things can happen to divert "judgment". On the other hand, if they give a good prophecy but bad things come to pass, then we know they were a false prophet. Therefore, this particular church decided to err on the side of caution and give the false prophecy. It was better to be wrong than to be damned.

Now, I don't think the Universe is about to go damning anyone. But I do think the bible gives a sound bit of wisdom. I think it would be better to be wrong once in awhile than to not warn people of a possible catastrophe.

I think B is worse, personally. I wouldn't care if l predicted it wrong and everyone judged me.. better to be wrong than right in this instance :)

but then l don't generally care what people think about me anyway, if in my heart l do things out of love.

A, definitely.

In my opinion neither, just means the astrologer wasn't as good as some at reading a map and understanding the cycles enough to make the correct prediction.
