hello fellow astrologers,
i just found this forum. i was so happy to find so many people as interested in discussing charts as i am! i have been studying astrology on my own for several years, and have learned mostly from books by Stephen Arroyo, whose approach (soul/energy based) is by far my favorite. anyway, i'm in the middle of my first saturn return, which so far has been really hard -- and just wanting to get some fresh interpretations of my chart, esp. the natal saturn (8th house) square moon (5th house), which is now being activated because of the return (not fun!)...
And, I would love to learn more about different interpretations on the nodes of the moon -- does one have the "leave" the south node and hang out in the north node to fulful one's life purpose?

i look forward to hearing from you.

i just found this forum while i was looking for information on Yod configurations.
I think I like you already
I have several yods in my chart, and although I have yet to go through my Saturn return, I have a shrewd idea how you may feel
Sagittarian Neptune in the twelfth house sextiling Libran Pluto in the tenth, both inconjunct your Taurus moon in the fifth...these are some complex energies you must learn to integrate, but at least Pluto isn't the apex planet!
A big, hearty welcome from all of us here at Astrolgy Weekly! :D

P.S. You may want to check out check out the Yod of God Forum (http://www.astrologyweekly.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=885) if you haven't done so already...

You have a interesting chart. My brother is a Leo with Neptune rising too (Aries moon, Scorpio ASC).
As far spiritual inclinations, creative drive, and addiction tendencies as indicated in a chart, you ctually have all of those, although that doesn't encessarily mean they will manifest in force in your life.
Sag rising and a populated 9th suggests inclincations toward religious, theological, philosophical and other forms of "higher" thinking. You would have a very intellectual approach to these topics, but with a Neptune rising and Scorpio placements in the 9th, you do have a profoundly spiritual side that is eager to express itself. You get have to know that rationality has limitations and a lot of your spiritual path will demand faith, and not rational thought.
Neptune rising with Taurus moon in the 5th suggests a highly creative potential, and with that being part of a yod with your pluto, creativity lines at teh heart of your deestiny. Creativity is likely to be the catlyst from self-discovery and self-validation. Neptune suggests this won't be concrete or direct forms of creativity, like writing or problem-solving, but something that is more abstract, spiritual and transcendant. Music and poetry are strongly associated with Neptune, while Taurus with skill and refined aesthetical taste and the 5th with imagination and child0like wonder and curiosity. Pluto is associated with transformation and profound insight - creative persons with Pluto-influenced talent tend to creative things that are challenging or have a deep psychological impact both ont hemselves and others. These aspects together in a yod is likely to be a prety powerful combination, although yod take time to manifest and mature. Especially with Pluto in the 10th, this may mean your creative peak will be in your later life.
As for addiction, neptune int eh 12th is a strong indicator - lots of vague, deep psychological problems and phobias are associated with this. Then also Saturn and Sun in the 8th - the 8th too is a highyl psychological house and neither of these planets are comfortable there. These placement suggest a complicated psyche, one that's over-analyzing and secretive. The native may set too high of standard for oneself in a sort of act of self-sabotage that ensures teh native often feels like a failure in life. But the biggy is your moon. Taurus moon is notorious for having an additive side to it, and this is emphasized by a 5th house placement (encourages lack of personal responsibility, a sort of "eternal child" effect) and Saturn squaring (such a hard earthy aspect could cause heavy feelings of guilt and shame that can perpetuate an addiction). These factors together in one chart would be a concern. Lunar-Taureans tend to have a very difficult time overcoming their addictions once they've fallen into them. The good news is once they've sincerely overcome their addiction, they tend to rarely relapse. As a rule, however, it's best that Lunar-Taureans stop potential addicitions in the bud, when possible.
Anyhow that's just a few remarks. Hope you find it useful.

This is very true. I am actually a student in Divinity School, but I am constantly reminded on the limitations of the intellectual appraoch to religion.
The rest of your comments are very helpful and insightful as well. I never considered the potential transformative Plutonian influence to creativity. This also is very in line with my career interests..
My questions about chart indicators for spirituality, creativity and addiction were meant in general, not just in relation to my chart. Although of course I find those themes interesting in my chart (spirituality and creativity are the two consistent threads of my life), I was wondering about alcholism and addiction because I know so many alcholics and was wondering about chart indicators. I am interested in the research aspect of astrology -- there have been some good studies on astrodatabank.com on factors contributing to alcholism -- and I think it would be cool to have studies done on things like musical ability, etc. as well. Your comments about lunar Taureans are accurate though -- I know many who struggle with alcohol and pot addiction. I think I avoided it because I was so concerned about becoming an alcoholic, having grown up with alcoholism in my family.
THank you for all your insightful comments. I suffer from overanalyzing my chart (all that Virgo!) and then getting fatalistic about it and it is helpful to have a new perspective.
Hi Hanna. You actually have a boomerang where an opposition is contained within the Yod to your Uranus in 11. Attached to this opposition is also a t-square where the Moon/Uranus Opposition is squared by Saturn at both ends. Some relief to this tension is found in the Pluto/Saturn sextile and Pluto/Neptune sextile. Aother release is the Moon trine Venus with an additional Mars trine Jupiter outside the Boomerang/t-square pattern.
This boomerang is close to your Nodes which could account for your question on whether one needs to move from one node to the other. In your case we are looking at the Taurus/Scorpio axis and with Saturn in 8, I could see where you don't really like the transformations inherent in Scorpio and the 8th house and would probably have liked sleeping with a light on when you were a child. With Saturn squaring the nodes and part of the Uranus/Moon t-square, you might feel like you want to rebel against routine living and being financially dependent on anyone. With Chiron very close to your Moon and South Node in the 5th house I want to say there has been some kind of wounding related to your sense of security and therefore your sense of self and I suspect your sense of being a woman as society defines the role.
If there are addiction problems I can see that you have a strong Sun and it is a final depositor in your chart along with Mercury so you have a strong will and mental facilities that can give you stength to overcome the desire to escape that your Neptune and Asc might drive. I can see the slipping sense of an identity (or role) that the first house would commonly supply be undermined by the Neptune or perhaps enhanced as you embrace a less limiting spiritual identity that can't be boxed in by traditional masks.
Your Saturn return triggers both the t-square and boomerang. Here are a couple of Sabian degrees to meditate on. First your Saturn Sabian degree which is 9 Leo:
129__(9°)
GLASS-BLOWERS SHAPE WITH THEIR BREATH GLOWING FORMS The formative power of the soul in moments of emotional intensity. Controlled self-expression. Art as a spiritual fact.
___*When positive, the degree is an effectiveness of personal participation in everyday existence, and when negative, wilful or unintelligent distortion of reality.
Second, the polarity degree which I would expect much of the energy to outlet- 9 Aquarius in the 2nd house:
309__(9°)
IN MEDITATION, A FLAG IS SEEN, WHICH CHANGES INTO A EAGLE Process of spiritual realization as it progresses from outer to inner standards. Rebirth, or rebellion against drudgery.
___*When positive, the degree is accomplishment through utter self-dedication, and when negative, vindictive pride.
Finally I would give you the Sabian degree for the point opposite your Pluto which is 10 Aries in the 4th house. This is your evolutionary path as opposed to the direction shown by the nodes:
10__(10°)
A SCHOLAR CREATES NEW FORMS FOR ANCIENT SYMBOLS Deep understanding, beyond normal means. Abstract seership, integrating the inner and the outer. Interpretative gift.
___*When positive, the degree is an exceptional capacity for putting every part of an individual's heritage to work, and when negative, witless distortion of values and twisted perspective in general events.
Good luck with your return. Hope this was helpful.
