A while back (before I had studied any astrology) I was walking past a new age shop, and noticed an advert in the window for a shop assistant, it had a few details about the position and on the last line in bold letters it said "NO VIRGO SUN SIGNS". At the time I wasn't really concerened being a Libran, but I have since discovered that my mercury is in virgo, and am not sure what to make of this. Possibly the blunt, down to earth nature of earth doesn't go down to well in the possibly water/air combo that I would expect to find in this kind of establishment. Any comments???

The shop people were just being jerks.. I honestly do not think it was anything more than them just considering the general traits of that sign and being like "No, we don't want that here." And if they only said sun sign, then that's the most likely explanation...

Without talking to the person that made the sign, it's impossible to really know just what they meant by the "No Virgo Sun Signs..."
If I would have happened to have seen that sign, I would have thought that they were trying to be funny or in a general way to say, no uptight people wanted. Sometimes, in spiritual and "other-worldly" related endeavors, cold logic would make strange bedfellows.
Personally, I think it was a silly sign...and if it's sincere, then it shows a serious lack of tolerance and understanding on the part of the person who made the sign.

Sounds like a joke. Virgoes are very picky and sharp customers. Mabye they were referring to that. The probably dont want the extra 100 questions lol.

Maybe they were just kidding around, but at the same time it's a little ridiculous wouldn't you say? I mean I am a virgo and I am a really good worker, and at the same time have no problem cutting loose and having fun. Maybe its the sag rising in me, but I've yet to meet a completely dull Virgo. TO each his own however, I just hope that those people at the shop realize how stupid and "bubbly" that sign makes them and their process look.

It could be genuine. (Even though it's a little petty.) Some people just think they don't get along with people of certain signs in specific settings. I met someone who once said they hated leos as bosses, but were fine with leo friends or employees.
Or someone who wont date gemini men, etc.
It's silly as we all know, because sun signs dont tell the whole story. Ha, it would serve them right if they hired someone who was virgo rising or mercury/moon in virgo. Virgos of course dont deserve the bad rap.
But still, my guess is the person who created the sign was probably strongly sag or gemini.
I somehow feel quite hurt by that sign!
What a narrow minded point of view and (if the sign is sincere) the person who placed it is unfairly transfering the blame for their own uptight attitude onto their image of Virgos.
I may well be particular about attention to detail and am very neat, but these qualities make me a good worker and being a Virgo does not stop me from being spiritual or being a part of the new age.
What if by an (improbable) chance, someone had Virgo in from their Sun to their Chiron?
Would nitpicking be their spirituality? :p

When I first read the "no Virgos wanted" sign, I didn't even consider the uptight, overanalytical angle. My first thought was that the person who wrote the sign didn't want to be upstaged by a better organized, more efficient assistant. Maybe this person wanted to remain the top roster (or hen) of that particular chicken hatchery. Funny how a Virgo's interpretation of a Virgo is generally different than the interpretation made by a non-Virgo. I wonder if all people interpret their signs differently than the "stastus quo" explanation.
There are two very different Virgos I've seen.
Some are very rude and critical, and some are very quiet, overly modest, and kind.
I like the ones that are tame.

Well, this here Virgo Sun Son is amused by it and not at all offended. I suspect it was a joke as well - though my Mercury is in Leo and I've been told this is what imbues me with my sense of humor.
Personally, I am a very good worker, but... I am NOT a neat person, can be very disorganized, am not pedantic nor any more or less critical of others than the average person. Perfection doesn't exist and to aspire to it is, in my view, sheer folly.
I wonder why a previous poster thought the sign was crafted by a Gemini or a Sag -- my beloved Dad was a Gemini and my current BF is a Sag and I am enjoying him very much (though I have SEVERAL planets in my 9th house).
To the OP - don't be frosted or take it too much to heart. Life is entirely too short.

I'm a virgo sun, and I'd GET em for it !:D I'm sure thats the Pluto expression of your conjunction, wouldn't it easier to use your Virgo sun to Analise their frame of mind? That way you don't get a payback for "getting them"! By the way, they closed the fore mentioned shop, not enough business:D

I came across some ads in my 'native' newspaper for an office position, where apparently they ONLY want Capricorns..

That sign saying "No Virgo's" was serious, and I believe that i know why. Having merc. in virgo in my natal, I feel that I know the "general" tone of merc in virgo- Blunt at times, even cold. Thats earth (or should I say "down to earth) without an infusion of empathy thrown in is just too much for some people to handle. I can say to my virgo sister the following phrase " Your husband may be a pain in the butt to live with at times but so can you and I be". She can take that comment on board without getting revved up because she is very down to earth and can admit that we all can be "pains" and all have imperfections. If I said the same phrase to another sister who has her sun and merc and mars and jupiter in the opposite sign pisces,(as well as a leo moon) she would be deeply offended and would tell me to **** off and wouldn't talk to me for a year or 2. I suppose thats the problem with trying to get along with everyone you meet, you don't know what the strongest influence in their chart is so there will be times when you offend people without meaning to.I sometimes wish that I had my merc in pisces so that I could mould into the others personality much easier, but then that has it's drawbacks too.I suppose that we should make the most of what we do have. Why am I telling all of you people this? because I have my libran sun conjunct the M.C. in my natal chart.

I also possess Mercury in Virgo, so please feel free to add hypercritical. I am not offended, as not all jobs call for this particular trait, but some, even those quite high paying, do.
I also have Sun, Pluto and Mars in Virgo and my traditional character traits: neat, critical, healthy, book-smart, etc... is clearly not for everyone. However, for those who can see my criticisms as witty repartee, as well as view my anal-retention as cutely quirky, there is a wealth of personality to behold. Again, not for everyone. And, that's cool.

Hey, if they don't want a hard worker, with sharp attention to detail and a penchant for perfection, then too bad for them! Hope they enjoy their cluttered, messy store. ;P I wouldn't even SHOP there if I had seen that sign!

I remember when I was younger, my natal merc had progressed into libra, boy did I upset some people with a blunt down to earth answer to their relationship problems!! People don't want to hear the truth about their own behaviour, especially when it's sub concious behaviour(12th house stuff I would assume). When my merc progressed into scorp, I could look into things (people) a bit deeper, and knew that if I gave them the cold hard truth about themselves, well I would soon run short of close friends (which did happen) :) Now that my merc is in sagg, I suggest they consult an astrologer, so that they can find the answers to their questions themselves!! What usually happens though is they admit to all the positive interpretations while denying the negative side. Oh well, maybe one day........

the most spiritually tuned in person I know is a virgo sun, and any new age place such as that would be beyond blessed to have him work or shop there.
luckily he's a genius with computers and is more than respected in that field.
