What are the indicators of a fleeting moment of luck vs. something positive that will be felt over a long period of time?
Natasha

I think of Jupiter transiting the 5th as good luck and could be triggered when it makes aspect to a personal planet whilst in the 5th
Long term positive outcome often comes after a Saturn transit if we 'do the hard work' during the transit Saturn will bring the rewards.

Hello 4-clover! Fleeting are fast transits (like Moon, Sun,Mercury, Venus and Mars, longlasting are heavy transits (like Saturn, Jupiter, Neptune, Uranus and Pluto.)
I think that progressed places of Venus and Jupiter could positively influence any part of life but only when they make good aspects, otherwise you will get overexpenditure, excesses of all sorts.
Should Venus be in your 5th but receives difficult aspects, then a positive transit (aspect) of Jupiter or Venus to your natal, could maybe make things temporarily a bit easier. The Jupiter one will last longer, especially if Jupiter goes retro in that same period.
Is Venus well aspected in your 5th, then a positive transit or aspect from a benefic planet will make things even better. A less fortunate planet could make the nice position of Venus temporarily less fortunate and to a difficult natal Venus, even more so.
Cheers, Starlink

Jupiterian transits may not be all that great esp when they are aspecting already disfunctional/negatively aspected planets.
lets say pluto is opposing moon and jupiter comes in with any aspect to the moon. I do not expect this to be a possitive aspect because jupiter might blow things out of its size and make things even worse.

i've been extremely lucky when jupiter was starting to conjunct with my descendant. it was sooo fortunate time in my life. circumstances were so lucky. i was in a lot of trouble cause of the slacking of and almost flunking in high school .. then, with zero work, it sorted itself out. almost unbelievable. the luckiest circumstances.
that was july 2005. after that .. lets just say i drained my luck .
now jupiter is about to pass my mc. i wonder what will that bring... any insight?

For me,
jupiter worked, but only when i was thinking on a higher level. Whenever there were questions or something serious came up, the philosphical side of jupiter would always come and assist.
However, it wont work if the area or house it is in or aspecting is defeated by malefical or fallen planets. I have venus fallen in the 5th (virgo) and jupiter might as well be an empty toliet roll holder for the help it can do here!
So, look at the chart overall and see where jupiter can help or assist...its only a planet afterall...
..what might seem like luck could actaully be an aspect of yourself that is hidden and you need to focus on more....flunking in college and then passing, might be a case of you being a smarter cookie that what you give your self credit for....'must try harder?'

I have better outcomes with Saturn after he passes than Jupiter
Seem to sometimes make a hasty descision I regret with Jupiter
But I am fairly Saturian.
My Jupiter aspects my Ascendant tho I think its got something to do with that
Oh heres my chart

Hi Tik, absolutely true. Jupiter either helps or just throws everything overboard and out of the window if you're not careful, especially in the 2nd house and in bad aspect to Venus or Mars, that sort of aspects. But otherwise it can be quite super when he makes a trine to the Moon or Venus (looovvve) and lots of good food, just a having a good time.

What about T. Uranus conjunct Jupiter? Will that be long term? Is it even good?
starlink
02-01-2008, 05:33 AM
4leaf, in this case it is a longterm thing. Uranus moves slowly, also due to retrogradation. You should see Jupiter here as the significator of one of your houses or/and ruler of one of your planets. Those things will undergo change which can take a long time. Sometimes it can be several moves within one year or several sudden happenings, all of course also depending on other transits and aspects in the chart. You always have to look at the whole picture.

With Jupiter you will always have to remember, that Jupiter is also sign of overconfidence and overeating. So it is very possible to get a little weight on while having a huge Jupiter aspects going on...
It also has been noted, that students that have Jupiter conj. Mercury transits or other aspects like that going on, are overconfident in exams and do not do so well, cause they have been too lazy to really study and their overconfidence has told them to just lay still and because of this, exams go badly...

Sometimes Jupiter represents jaundice and annurism and swelling
Interesting question though 4leafclover. I agree that for some achieving long term working goals or perhaps some intense moments in therapy which change a persons thinking-feeeling etc are much better value than a passing lotto win.
Got to look under jupiter and evaluate the planets involved. Solar arc sun trine my natal jupiter near killed me. Jupiter rules 8th in my case and Prog sun was on Algol. Lucky me.

I have found that Jupiter transits, especially conjunctions, to Sun or Moon can bring little breaks, though so far, no actual jackpots. (Astrocartography suggests you should play the lottery at a place in the world where your Jupiter-Pluto lines cross, in case that question is in anyone's mind. I have no wish to claim its possible infallibility, though. The root meaning of the word word 'Pluto' is 'wealth.' Actually, my Jupiter-Pluto lines cross at San Fran Cisco. Well, I did met Jupiter-Pluto there virtually, over the internet. It is the sense that there are many extreme believers there that made the biggest impression on me, each planet magnifying the excesses of the other to undue proportions. At least, that is how it came across to me.)
Transit Jupiter to Sun: found a flat, when I needed a new place to live urgently. That happened once. Jupiter to Moon: I got a cut-price trip to Venice at the last minute. The travel agents spluttered a little bit to begin wth when I asked them if they had any cheap flights for me that day, but they did deliver. Transit sextils and trines do seem to give a sense of 'flow' and well-being and it does seemto be easier for opportunities to happen here.
A welcome break also became manifest on my most recent Jupiter return, though this by no means was not the case on the previous two occasions. This had been in he pipeline for som months before, but when this transit was more or less exact, a limited edition of some Tarot cards did come out, along with some royalties.
So I do think it it worth paying attention to Jupiter transits, though Uranus is also a planet I could associate with breaks. For me, Saturn very firmly squares my Midheaven, so it is good to remember that it does not always have to be about what can and often does manifest with the former in terms of rejection and more rejection of various ouvres.

OMG, after the past year and a half I need some luck.I dont care what form of luck it is just as long as I can be reasonably content for awhile. I feel that I have TOTALLY paid off my karmic debts(well, at least I think so:D )
Watch, I'll probably get an envelope stuffed with faux cash telling me how much Jesus loves me.

is Jupiter in rulership in your natal Clovah? What is the condition of Jupiter? Mine is in virgo, retrograde and angular (4th) so there is not much that Jupiter delivers except that is, when not so good things happen to me, Jupiter's benevolence allows a "lucky" outcome in something that could have been much worse. Thats the luck that my debelitated Jupiter tends to bring.

Kingsley, my Jupiter is in Pisces/8th house, so that should be good for me. Tax refunds are pretty much inevitable:rolleyes: I have managed to dodge some dangerous situations,so that could also be where my luck comes in. I am also thinking a shift in perspective-a transformation-could also bring luck. I don't think an inheritance is in the cards though.

I am a Sag rising with exalted Jupiter in Cancer in the 8th house-
--but fall Aries in Saturn in the 4th house.
Good Luck/Bad Luck?
The only luck I have comes from a positive attitude. That is the energy that determines luck I believe.
I feel lucky everyday that I get out of bed knowing it won't take me an hour to get dressed because I am not in a wheelchair.
I get excited about good things happening even though they have not happened yet.
The possibilities are endless and that’s why we have to stick around for the show folks - anything is possible.

My Jupiter's in the 12th in Scorpio, the 'get out of jail free position' according to Sasportas. It is supposed to be in a moderately high Gauquelin zone too - in which case, I do not know where it keeps vanishing. Not sure I am politician material though, kissing babies and telling people what they want to hear and all that. Yuck!
It opposes Mars, though with quite a wide orb and did get a somewhat dispiritng reading from someone when first getting interested in charts: he told me I had ideas, but that they would often be stifled by the great They, linking it to deep, dark family traumas involving lack of validatation, etc, etc.
Maybe the 12th House is not quitethe best kind of Jupiter to have for PR, especially with Saturn square the Midheaven. Maybe 12th House Jupiters and Suns work so well for heads of state because then, such people have that great sense of working for something so much greater than themselves, as they keep on kissing babies and grandly declaring l'état, c'est moi.' Jupiter sextiles the MC for me, but widely.
I have heard that state of mind does influence luck, networking a lot, communicating a lot, are all supposed to allow Jupiter's influence to be felt a little more. Maybe Jupiter does not get as much attention as it should, compared to Saturn.

I have Jupiter on the asc in leo, its also my ruler being a sag, sun in 5th house.(16.12.66 18:47 gmt london) - Its interesting what you're all saying here.
I think Jupiter can be seen as lucky, however as someone once told me 100 years ago, luck is when preparation meets opportunity...and that has certainly been my experience.
Now, having had Jupiter on my sun last year, and previously, I would say yes had some lucky things happen in terms of money ( funding for projects and had a baby in September 06, very lucky as was unlucky first time round). However, Jupiter expands everything including all the stressful aspects of your chart and your life...its seemed to exaggerate all the small problems too in my experience.
Love Jupiter though and it was better in Sagittarius! now going into Capricorn with Pluto I was thinking today oh no its it all going to be so serious in the world! We do have a lot to be serious about on this planet of course, its in a mess as you all know, however, Capricorn countries ( I live in one the UK) I wonder how they will do? does anyone have a good grasp of country transits???
On another note: Jupiter in Capricorn is on my venus, ( 6th house) well was in January (venus in cap 3) but haven't noticed a single thing actually!!!, having split up with my double gemini partner last year ( his moon being hit by Pluto opposition most of the time) ....I think mars being retrograde and now mercury retrograde they somehow take over the full benefit of Jupiter who is trying to find a way probably, to deal with the 'not every day is a party day', Capricorn!!!
Anybody early Capricorn notice a difference with Jupiter transiting their sun, moon or venus?

I should think that luck of course depends on meeting it half way, actually doing the labour and so on. There is the Jupiterian who hopes to keep hitting the jackpot, but never does and in fact if you must be a gambler, then probably, Saturn would be your planet of luck, because then there would be the ability to know when to stop.
I once watched a programme about Las Vegas in Whicker's world, which also featured an individual who described himself as a 'professional poker player.' He appeared to be successful at it, but in that case, maybe a strong Mercury or Pluto was responsible for his luck. Being able to read the body language of others, whilst remaining inscrutable yourself.
I did once know someone who did gamble a lot and I do happen to know that he had a Jupiter/Saturn opposition, something Liz Greene noticed with gamblers. He tended to lose more often than win, too.
I have also come across no end of sad tales of individuals who did get the Big One with the lottery and so on, but in fact this has actually been disastrous for these people. They could not cope with the huge changes this made to their lives.
Maybe luck can depend on assertivenss skills too, who would ever want to be the industrious little mouse nobody ever notices because he or she never speaks up and asks for a rise. Exploitation is what the hard-working little mouse might just get there as a reward, otherwise.
It probably depends on meeting what the Great Masses want halfway too, no good slaving away making exquisite green shoes, when the Big Powers that Be have already decided in advance that pink shoes are to be In. That is where certain kinds of creativity really are a gamble, because then the risk of it all falling on stony ground is huge.
A couple of people have also suggested to me recently that getting lucky does tend to depend on 'who you know,' and that this can involve a lot of, well, being nice to people in settings that you might otherwise might have little time for. Put that way, maybe getting 'lucky' there might be going to more trouble than it is worth......

I have Jupiter in Taurus in House 7. I also have a 2nd house stellium of Mars, Merc, and SUn in Cap. Every time Taurus season comes, I usually get a large sum of money. It is definitely true. Only thing with Jup in Taurus squaring my moon is I emotionally eat! So that has been a struggle. I am a wonderful singer and love poetry, which is also supposed to be a jupiter in taurus phenom. Anyways, I'm not married, but I am definitely attracted to foreigners and will more than likely marry one (Jup in 7 house). Anyways!! Hope this helps. Jupiter is lucky with me. i can give some experiences. In Jan 2006 , when Jupiter transits my H2 in Scorpio , i receive a job offer and in May 8th 2006 , i went to work. In summer 2007 , when Jupiter is about to make a conjunction with Sag Mars , the job changed from 8 to 5 , to a shift system , increasing $500 biweekly. In Oct. 2008 , when Capricorn Jupiter conjoins natal Mercury , i receive a bonification of $1750.00 and in November and December last year , when transiting Aquarius Jupiter conjunct natal Venus , i began to work double shifts increasing my paycheck.

I don't understand. When you progress your chart, even the ascendant changes. Now how to intrepret that. Suppose jupiter in natal is in 7th house at 22 degrees. After progression, it becomes 26 degrees, and in the same house. So now are we supposed to match the progressed jupiter with the current transits? and define the progressed jupiter comparing with other planets who are also progressed.
Some enlightment would be appreciated
Basically i would like to know how to intrepret the progressed chart.
And thanks

Jupiter has caused chaos for me lately. Overabundance of everything that is possible.
My chart is pretty much Pisces, I have Mars/Sun/Mercury in Pisces, with aspects going everywhere.
When T Jup hit Mars I had energy - started swimming! On the lead up to my Sun a week ago I have many many bills show up all at once. T Jupiter is currently transiting my Sun and I think... I will be offered a job in the next week after going for 4 interviews yesterday (not the same company), I was exhausted. The day before I have the police turn up to my house 3 times, I was exhausted then too. All this hardly happens once let alone this many times in one day. My life is out of control at the moment, lol.
T Mars is currently turning on my N Jupiter at 29Can so maybe all of these bang bang bangs are going off. :surprised:
I was thinking of working with this overabundance of energy and directing it into something that is useful for me... like money I really need some and am waiting on the huge amount of money I should be receiving. What else can life throw at me until Jupiter moves out of Pisces.
As my bday is today, I have Jupiter conjunct Sun and Mars conjunct Jupiter for the next year, I am exhausted thinking about it. It will be interesting to see what this year brings, hopefully some money to buy myself some pavlova .

I just wanted to add that when my jupiter transitted my second house, I underwent a lot of pressure, and I saw losses everywhere around me.

Hello!
I'm not sure if this applys to thread-starters post, but I would like to contribute with my tiny piece of Jupiter-experience...
I have Jupiter nataly sextiling Sun, Mercury and Pluto.
I have expirienced a lot of difficult things in my life, my life has not at all been easy, but I feel that I always carry with me some form of optimism and hope. A knowledge deep inside that I'm going to overcome all the obstacles. And it seems to me that no matter how bad it gets for me (and it has gotten BAD) something saves me in the last second. Or something changes so I'm able to see things in a diffrent, more positive light...
I'm not sure, but maybe this is Jupiters influence?
I also had Jupiter transitting my saturn/mars conjunction when I was extremly isolated do to social anxiety, a couple of years ago, and it pushed me into action.
I got myself a dog and started challenging myself to get out beeing around people. Extremly difficult, but still a distinctiv change from beeing inside all the time, afraid of stepping outside the door...

I can totally relate to this, but I don't know why because I have a badly aspected Jupiter in Gemini and in the 11th house. It squares my moon in Virgo and POF is Sag.

i've been extremely lucky when jupiter was starting to conjunct with my descendant. it was sooo fortunate time in my life. circumstances were so lucky. i was in a lot of trouble cause of the slacking of and almost flunking in high school .. then, with zero work, it sorted itself out. almost unbelievable. the luckiest circumstances.
that was july 2005. after that .. lets just say i drained my luck .
now jupiter is about to pass my mc. i wonder what will that bring... any insight?
With schooling it has to be connected to the 3rd house and possibly Mercury.
Jupiter on the MC if it has a natal aspect too, can bring opportunities with profession, travelling in connection with it or studying to further career.
It also deals with legal matters and foreign affairs.
Again a chart is needed.

Remember that Jupiter enlarges whatever it touches and brings opportunities even with squares etc. Moon in Virgo I think you may need to watch your diet perhaps. There can be allergies but then again depending on where in the chart. THis can be a nervous influence also with a lot of worry.

My Jupiter is in Virgo, which is considered the sign of its detriment. Mine is 10 degrees precisely. It's in my 7th whole house or 6th house placidius. And my Sun is also Virgo 2 degrees. So I attribute my positive outlook and sunny disposition to Sun conjunct Jupiter.
I know hellenistically speaking that Jupiter was the significator for my 2nd marriage which did last 25 years and gave me two lovely daughters.
I am now watching transiting Jupiter because it is currently in Pisces 16 degrees and my rising is Pisces 18. I am trying NOT to let it expand my waistline! lol.
I also have transiting South Node conjunct my Venus today. I can't yet see what that will produce.

That it is interesting!
Jupiter isn't the strongest in my chart either, so I feel that I have a hard time grasping it's energy so to speak...
It is placed in capricorn, but it makes good aspects to a lot of planets actually, sextiles to Sun, Mercury, and Pluto, Trines ASC and conjunct Neptune. (Which I think saves me, because i have a lot of other difficult aspects).
BUT, maybe something other from your chart gives you the same experience that even though you meet obstacles, you overcome in the end? 11th house seems like a good placement for Jupiter? And maybe Jupiter in Gemini can provide an optimistic nature?

Hello amy
check your first house. I think you will lose the battle of not gaining weight after the middle of this year.
You have saturn in the eight house?. It is also making a square (house wise) with venus in your 5th. As it also squares your 5th so it may as well indicate your daughters ? what's the situation tell me. Saturn in the eight does not really bode well for children and the same goes for inheritances too. What do you think that saturn in the eight has done for you? It is also opposite your second house too.
both jupiter and sun in virgo. tell me was / is your husband in the communication business? marketing? and intelligent or talkative. pls let me know.
with moon not exactly in the first house, but in the first house, it would show that you are really interested in material gains. Later on this year there could be a chance of a lottery of some kind but brought about by your own efforts. Pls keep your hand closed till then as T jupiter is also opposite your natal jupiter too.
Do your children find you talkative? let me know.
Let me know your details if you are interested to know more.
oh and what is your date of birth. I could not see the same with the chart that you have posted.
bye for now

I've always heard about Jupiter and luck and expansion, but I was looking at my chart the last time Jupiter traveled through my sun sign (1998) and it was a year of overabundance for sure, but not so much associated with luck.
Around the time Jupiter conjunct my Pisces sun in '98, I was diagnosed with hyperthyroid (overproduction of thyroid hormones) and was put on medication. But my doctor gave me too big a dose of the medicine and I became hypothyroid (again, TOO MUCH of something is not a good thing!) a symptom of hypothyroid is (you guessed it) lots of weight gain! It took over a year for me to balance out to normal... All of the above can apply to Jupiter's energies of expansion, overabundance... etc.
So 2010, Jupiter is back in Pisces and I'm actually kind of scared! I'm currently looking for a job, so hopefully Jupiter will help me out in that area instead of makin' me chubby again!

hello picolet
Your mars and saturn are both in libra and transiting saturn is also in libra.
Pluto there shows major transformation in the partnership area of your life.
Do you like older partners?
your horoscope shows you unsuitable for any long term partnership. The same goes for your marriage partner.
Bye for now

I find this interesting, the issue about jupiter and luck. Sometimes a stroke of luck and sometimes like a saturn transit is my experience.
Some years ago Jupiter was on my asc and then first house. A lonely and sad time, I was recovering from a year of illness. Of course I felt a little better every day, but had a loooong way ahead....
The time Jupiter was on my Asc in first house before I met a man with whom I had a very troubled, yet lasting relationship. I did not like him in the beginning so during the jupiter transit I definately did not feel lucky or great.
Six years later jupiter was on my desc/seventh house. I became suddenly extremely preoccupied with myself (the opposite sector of the horoscope)! I lost weight, changed my dressing, wanted to change the people I hang out with etc etc. I neglected my partner and wanted him to disappear somehow. He got hurt. I felt overly eager to start a new life. As the transit was over I had a setback but my partner and I never went back to being good together again. Our separation process began.
Right now I have jupiter in my 4th house. I´ve been planning to move into a bigger house for half a year and now is the time. Feels like stress and not luck. On the other hand I´ve had sudden success at work now. Bosses and colleagues run into my office telling me how great I am, how I solved problems. I was asked to talk in front of people and my shyness was all gone and my boss said I really did great. :surprised: This was a stroke of luck, nothing I planned, nothing I could see coming.
I felt I´ve just done my job and worked good a long time. So when jup was opp the MC I had unexpected success at work. Interesting indeed....
Jupiter means expansion, and expansion can hurt. Luck can come easily and then go away as easily as it came. And sometimes we don´t notice the transit at all, maybe because jup moves too fast then or there are other things going on. Last time I had jupiter at the IC it also meant I was shining in my professional life, and home matters were not on the list. Looking back I see I had no big transits going on. But I remember extreme stress in my studies and getting loads of stuff done, praise from professors and me learning a lot (an expansion of my professional mind). Luck is not the right word, but I succeded in what I did only it required work.
Remember that Jupiter enlarges whatever it touches and brings opportunities even with squares etc. Moon in Virgo I think you may need to watch your diet perhaps. There can be allergies but then again depending on where in the chart. THis can be a nervous influence also with a lot of worry.
That's very interesting.
I do worry sometimes, but thank god I don't have allergies. But my mother has a lot of health issues. I always thought this square indicated her health problems.
I have jupiter (gemini, 11th house) square north node (pisces, 8th house). Do you know what this could indicate?
That it is interesting!
Jupiter isn't the strongest in my chart either, so I feel that I have a hard time grasping it's energy so to speak...

That's possible. I'm a Aries sun 26 degrees; the Saggitarius/Jupiter decan. Maybe this is a reason as well?

Anti-Murphy’s Law: If something can go RIGHT, it will. What most books don’t tell you is that Jupiter has its downside. Sure you can feel good when Jupiter comes around. Too good. You can become overconfident, lazy, sloppy, and neglectful of details... read more about jupiter in transit if you want at bobmarksastrologer:smile:
I find this weight-gaining a little confusing. With t. jupiter in my seventh I began the weight losing of my life so far. Lost 20k in the end. But as it started under a jupiter transit, slowly the weight came creeping back.
But as I look back, last year jupiter was square my sun for some months, and here I sit now, the fattest me this century

I have an uncle, he is the nicest person I know. He's just genuinly friendly and nice to everybody without ever wanting or demanding anything for himself.
I was reading one of my astrologybooks, about Jupiter, and noticed that my uncle has Jupiter in Aquarius. The book I was reading said that this could indicate a person that would be friendly and helpfull towards mostly everybody. Good friendships, and a desire to come to agreement and to understand other people. Compassionate and with a social consiousness.
Is this recognisable to anybody? I know it's not possible to determend by just this one aspect, but I wonder if this Jupiter-placement has something to do with his tremendous friendlyness?
That's possible. I'm a Aries sun 26 degrees; the Saggitarius/Jupiter decan. Maybe this is a reason as well?
Maybe? I'm not so familiar with the decanats...

I think of Jupiter transiting the 5th as good luck and could be triggered when it makes aspect to a personal planet whilst in the 5th
Long term positive outcome often comes after a Saturn transit if we 'do the hard work' during the transit Saturn will bring the rewards.
Yes if Jupiter has the same contact with a planet from the 5th natally I would be buying lottery tickets:smile: Yes Saturn is the taskmaster but also of recognition.
