Someone suggested we moved our discussion in a thread about Tarot Cards to a new thread of its own. I didnt see anyone else had done it, so here it is now.
One thing I find kind of interesting about myself is I am a double goat. (Maybe triple but I cant remember how to do the third right off hand so Ill skip it for now)
My sun sign is Capricorn - goat 1
The numerology for my birth date translates into the Tarot card "The Emperor" - goat 2

And Ive always had to struggle to come to grips with both of those energies. Still am. But as I get older I find more resonance with them and looking back on the past I see more places I have made use of the goat emperor.

Great!!! Yes, that someone was me. Now let's see how many people are interested in Tarot around here.;)

I am a double Scorpio, but numerologically I am a number six, so I would be The Lovers.

The Emperor, uh? You must be a person who likes structure and organisation, then!

Hi there Isis

I'm glad you started the thread (I guess Moulin will be on her way to it)

Well numerologically I am an 8 and I don't know whether to pick Strength or Justice.

Do you think that there is something hidden under this ambiguity of card no 8 ?

Cheers

I guess not Carole...
I have been lurking, waiting to see, but ...nothing.
What if we provided an optical stimulus to the people...?

just add all the digits of your birthday to a number. There are 22 major arcana cards. your number corresponds to one(or two)of them

Hi!
I like tarot!
the rider waite my fave deck, got rid of all the others.

Numerologically i'm number 3, the Empress. I am creative, play the flute, used to draw and paint with more time on my hands, sensual and adore nature.. I love creating things.

My boyfriend is 9, the Hermit. Describes him very well, he is a very private person, very wise (maybe im biased), keeps himself to himself but he does bring enlightenment.

Hi, Athan!

My Mars in Pisces loved the video. Thank you!! And it's interesting how at the end everyone has the same devilish face, isn't it? It looks like living in Hollywood can make you become a fool who will lose their soul. No, no, no...I better don't go to live there!:D

Hi Carole

Thats funny!

I do like a party every now and then, more so when I was younger, too tired now with less time but I'm working on improving that, to get the characteristics of the Fool again!:D

I have used various Tarot Decks for many years. But I always prefer Astrology as a method of "divination".

After experimenting with various Decks I use the standard Rider Waite most often. There are well over 100 different Decks in existence. I've even met a few people who created their own, with their own art.

My favorite experience was using Tarot Cards to diagnose electrical problems with a water heater. After replacing an upper heating element that was clearly burned out, the heater still would not work. The Tarot Cards illustrated to me that the lower heating element was also burned out. Sure enough, the lower element was dead too! After changing it out the water heater was good as new! I now recommend Tarot Cards to all trained electronics technicians. They're as handy as wire cutters and a multi-meter!

depends on which numerology your following.....I am a 27/9 or a 13 according to linda goodman.....the devil card suits me....with that goaty feel ( i am a cap)...9or is the 13th death?)
so whats the 9th card........only ever looked at Osho's deck, for insight into chakra alignment and then crystal helaing.......never owned a traditional tarot deck............in osho its the aloneness card.....which still suits me particularly with cap ruling sun or moon 12th

Hi, Neptune Rising!

When I read you are a number 3, the first thing that came to my mind was that.:) I have two friends who are number 3 also and they are usually so fond of pleasure and social interaction, very often the "life of the party", that I keep making this connection with The Empress card. Your Neptune must temper all the bubbling and sparkling for sure, but you keep being a good exponent of the number 3 with your artistic inclinations and creativity.

Do you read the Tarot regularly?

That's a very interesting use that I had never thought about, Derestanne. I have to try it!:D

Hi Carole!
Come to think of it, I'm the life and soul of the office, when the bosses are out! Collegaues don't get bored. I must admit, I do like a nice gathering though.

Ive been reading regularly lately since Ive been looking for a job, Im looking for the ace of pentacles! :D

I used to collect loads of different decks, but only really used one regularly, the Waite. I relate to the symbolism the most, though I used to find things like the Tower and 10 swords a bit too stark. I liked the old style reinessance decks lovely, kind of delicate symbolism. I also love the Osho deck, its beauty and its meanings. I use them more to see the inner workings of myself. I still held onto my Thoth deck though I hardly use it. The times I do I find it really 'speaks' to me. The pictures are lovely.

neptune, find it interesting that you also use the osho deck for insight into the inner workings of yourself.....thats why i have used it in chakra alignment......that deck really talks to me.

so the ninth card is the hermit?......very strange.....thats me to a tea.

What i do want to say though, is that in numerology the numbers all get broken down to a single number, leaving the cards only to be correlated to the first nine cards.....as useless as looking at just sun signs really......!

what would you guys say about using the minor acarna too?

what would you guys suggest as a traditional deck for use for a beginner.....

I would love to move on from the Osho deck. I also owned a thoth deck in the past(great pictures), but gave them away to a friend. I bought them myself and felt that i actually needed to be given the deck...........bit young at the time, and suppose was a bit superstitious. What do you guys think about buying your own decks?

Hi Liquid

Thats an interesting observation, using the minor arcana. They are similar to the major but more like mundane meanings. So if you are number 9, you could also look at 9 of pentacles, cups, swords and wands. Hmm, if you look at all those energies and combine them together, I wonder if the major arcana card contains all those energies combined..

I do love the osho deck, I used it also in a very stressful time of my life, it really helped calm and rationalise me. Does the deck show you if you have any imbalances in your chakras?

Neptune Rising:

If you like the Raider-Waite better and feel comfortable with it, then that is the right deck for you.:)

Liquid Green:

The best deck that I can think of when you are a beginner is precisely the Raider-Waite deck. The Thoth Tarot deck is more magickal-astrological oriented.

I have known for years (don't ask me how) that you must be given your first Tarot deck (without asking for it, of course). Then you can buy your next deck yourself. I guess this is because it's said that when you are on the right track to do what you must do in this life, the universe puts the tools in front of you. It gives you what you exactly need at the right moment, whether for the fulfillment of your personal mission in life, or to tell you about something you should take notice of.

Neptune.....i do a seven card spread for the chakra alignment, to see where they are at.....i concentrate on the chakra that seem to have cards that represent inbalance....(most of the cloud cards linking with the chakras i tend to clean up with crystals, cos i think those cards usually express imbalance) after the clearing with crystals i do the spread again.......believe it or not, i usually get a really clean spread of cards showing high qulaity emotions.......(usually major acarna and rianbow cards.....!) (the patience card comes up alot for me in relation to pregnancy.......my own and others.
but being a mum now, i havent done chakra stuff in a bout 4 years....should do though

carole,
good thing i got rid of the deck then.......i took them home and never felt right............stupid and nieve at the time.

oo I love tarot but never understood how I find out what my card is.. I am a 39/3 .. can someone explain how to find my card? :) ty :o

Liquid Green

your card would be the third card..........so you like a party huh!
I am not sure what the 3rd card is, cos i dont have a traditional deck....and in my deck the fool is numbered 0........but in the osho deck its the card of creativity....does that resonate at all?

Carole

This is an example:

Someone's birth date is 09/11/2001

Reduce these numbers to one, noticing that master numbers (11, 22, 33) are never reduced.

9+11+2+1 = 23

2+3 = 5

Then the corresponding card would be The Hierophant (V).

How curious!! This date corresponds to number 5. Numerologically, 5 stands for chaos and disruption in its negative side. Interesting. Especially if I relate it to The Hierophant's symbology.

Ty Liquid - yah my venus in aries and mars in sag like a good rukus party from time to time - or my libra rising and taurus sun likes to have some nice food and wine and music and "entertain" friends ..which card is that -

What number is the Hermit?

The other flip of the coin for me is that uranus jupiter pluto and south node of 29 virgo in the 12th likes to hermit away from time to time as well

Glad someone started this thread

Carole

I would like to know a bit more on that Carole.
The first deck I ''played'' with was a Rider Waite I accidentally found in a kitchen's drawer. I asked Mother whose was it and she said that she knew nothing of it....I thought it was strange but said nothing and so the journey begun...
Since then, about 10 years ago, I have bought enough but I still use the Rider Waite. My Thoth deck is always in a black box.... I feel the energy from that deck is quite different from all the others but I am not really sure I can read it. I know that it attracts me in a very peculiar way....

Carole

Athan:

Maybe you were meant to have that deck and read the cards. I don't really remember where I read or heard about this notion, that is for some just an old wive's tale. I tend to think that if some ideas are still alive, there must be something about them. Besides, I have the strong conviction that everything happens for a good reason.

I was given my first tarot deck as a gift. Not a birthday gift, not a christmas gift...only a gift out of the blue. But if it hadn't been given to me, I would have bought one eventually. It just happened that way.

That sounds like a fascinating system Liquid, thanks for sharing that. Im inspired to take up my Osho deck again now, if only to just get lost in its beauty! I love to meditate on the card's message.

Wow, this thread grew big while Ive been gone. (only have a puter at work) The boss is coming in town today though so pretty soon Ill have to pack it up and let the boring hit me! Hehe. So how about them court cards? Is there a certain one you feel is drawn to represent you most often? I used to feel the most resonance with the Queen of Swords. But my life has changed TONS in the last 5 years and now I relate to both the Queen of Pentacles and the Queen of Wands. Only the Queen of Wands I have struggles with. Sometimes I have trouble seeing her as myself. Alot of time I get stuck on the idea of her being some outside influence.

Number 11 corresponds to Justice. Balance, equilibrium, taking responsibility for your acts, etc.
