In 1862-1864 Quaoar was going through conjunct with Uranus (20-21 Gemini).
At the end of 1862/start of 1863 (when the conjunct started) the Emancipation proclamation was signed by Abraham lincoln, it did not abolish all slavery in the USA but was a start toward it. The revolutionary symbolism of Uranus is shown here and I would suggest then that Quaoar symbolises freedom and liberation.
On 10th Nov 1799 Quaoar came in opposition to Uranus. On this very date Napoleon overthrew the executive power of france at the time, the Directoire exécutif, and established himself as First Consul over france. Napolean, with his military career, clearly opposed (as the astrology suggests), the liberation and freedom of others. His revolution (uranus) opposed it.
The next opposition is from 2038-2040. So, watch this time for oppositions to peace and liberation. The next time they are conjunct is in 2099!

I don't know if I have my historical facts right lol, but it's just a hypothesis. Also I noticed that during the some significant wars Quaoar changed sign, i.e. in 1918, at the end of WWI, Quaoar changed signs from Leo to Virgo. Also near the end of WWII also, Quaoar changed between Virgo and Libra, between 1943-1945. Then Quaoar changed to Scorpio in 1968 at the end of the Vietnaam war. Quaoar then moved its way over to Sagittarius in 1993 at the end of the somali civil war......freedom/liberation???

any thoughts?

hi Amoleman thanks for this information. it's truly interesting. i'm not familiar with Quaoar, but the historical facts that you cited are really revealing. could you share some links on the topoic? thanks, Jag

From the articles I have read online people are associating Quaoar as a generational planet for the "indigo children". But, from looking at when Quaoar's major transits were I came to think it meant "freedom/liberation"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quaoar (general information on Quaoar)

Maybe then you could say the indigo children are a generation of freedom-fighters =)

Hello Amoleman!

Pleased to make your acquaintance on this forum! You make some very interesting initial posts.

This afternoon, on a lark, I added "Quaoar" to the Astrodienst chart I was bringing up for myself. When I saw where it fell, I remembered reading this post of yours. Quaoar is at 26'00" Libra, exactly conjunct my MC at 25'31" Libra. This is all disposited by my Venus in Capricorn in the 1st, and further disposited by Saturn in Pisces in the 2nd.

Since I was a little girl, I have had a great desire to see people freed from the prison of poverty- to see that everyone has enough. Would this fit where Quaoar resides in my chart?

Well, I haven't looked at Quaoar in natal charts in depth, I looked at it in regards to historical events. But, it would be an interesting thing to look into how it functions in our natal charts. I am not yet old enough to have experiences "many" Quaoar transits, although it did enter my ninth house in 2001...yet I have yet to figure out how that applies to me :P I mean, I started secondary school in this year, but how does this apply to Quaoar & 9th house?

Well..maybe if more people see how Quaoar affects their natal charts we can find out lol =P

hi Shalom, thanks so much for sharing the links of Quaoar. it's so new that i don't think that much research has been done on the subject. also it requires a rather long time for us to learn and distinguish its specific influenced on our psyche.

the mundan events that you mentioned were truely interesting. so it seems that the archetype of Quaoar has to with the notion of "chaoes and orders". in order to creat a new order, chaoes should arise first. i think it very interesting since no other planets, asteroid etc have really been there for this archetype.

as to your question, whether Quaoar=freedom/liberation, i tend to feel no. because Quaoar does not seem to indicate the confinement which precedes "freedom/liberation", the chaoes are just there, and the chaoes are not the strict limitation like Saturn which has to be broken by Uranus. and that's the difference between Quaoar and Uranus. just my random thoughts at this moment. i think you raise an interesting topic. Jag

I think that your definition of "chaos-->order" is a good one, considering the mundane events connected with Quaoar. But, as I said before, I don't know how this applies to natal charts

Great observations. WWI was the first war of technology and fire (from massed artillery to flamethrowers, tanks, chemical warfare, etc), and this could be well represented by Leo. WWI was also about nationalism and the Sun could well represent that. Virgo represents (to me) detail, organization, but also ruthlessness and sadism. Nothing more sadistic than the Nazis, the commies under Stalin, and the Japanese Empire during WWII. After WWII ended, new democracies and societies were born, returning justice to the land previously ruled over by despotism. 1968 wasn't the end of the Vietnam conflict, it was actually the height of it. Where was Quaoar in 1973 or 1975? However, 1968 was pivotal with the riots during the American political conventions and the assassinations of Martin Luther King and Bobby Kennedy, and the election of Nixon. We would have to see how that fits with the US chart. 1862-1864 was the bloodiest period of the US civil war, and with the conjunction in Gemini, could reflect the intellectual way the war was conducted with new technologies and stupid theories that resulted in horrific casualties on the battlefields. Pluto was in Gemini during WWI and the same horrific casualties resulted. At Chickamauga there were 20,000+ men lost in a day, and at the Somme over 60,000 men were lost in a single day.
