View Full Version : Can someone explain this rudimentary question?

I've joined an astrology group to learn, so that I may be of use here, rather than ask goofy questions. Anyway, as a new member, I had to submit my Sun, Asc and Moon to the moderator of the group. When I went to look at his profile, I see that he's a Pisces Sun in the 11th House, A Leo Moon in the 4th House, with a Gemini Asc. -- these were his words.
So what does Pisces Sun in the 11th House and a Leo Moon in the 4th House mean?
Dazed and confused and grateful for any response! Thanks! :)

johnmike59,
Hi there. To me a pisces sun in H11 points to someone who has compassion at a humanitarian level....very intuitive in groups (Of course without knowing the aspects related this can only be very generalized)...suggests wisdom or *vision* in regard to groups or organisations, such as a forum.
Gemini asc is an indication of the connection with astrology (being ruled by Mercury) and his mercurial nature...Mercury seems to figure prominently in the charts of people connected to both astrology and forums.
A leo moon can be very expansive, playful, generous hearted, but also big ego if aspected badly of course.
The 4th house relates to his home and ancestral roots, not particularly relevant in this context of forums....or astrology.
Without knowing any more of the chart this can be only a wild guess really.
A useful book for *signs in the houses* is called *Your planetary Personality* by Dennis Oakland. On having the sun in house 11, he has this to say (excerpt only):"Your self respect depends on pursuing your ideals through to fulfilment." (and this would be a challenge to a sun-pisces person as the dream is sometimes more alluring than the drive to realise it is strong.
This placement could be described as being a *people....people who need people...are the luckiest people...* (Know the song?)
The moon is strongly placed in the fourth, its natural domicile and quite jolly in Leo if not badly afflicted...
A gemini ascendant describes an intellectual person, capable of handling a lot of information and keeping it organised....if his moon in leo squares his ascendant his moods may sometimes be at odds with his public image, for example...
A lot depends, but there's a few ideas....Best wishes, Lillyjgc

Thank you, Lily (and thanks for the recommendation - Amazon is making a small fortune off of the very many suggestions I receive from so many here. Time and money very well spent!)
But, I suppose my question did not really have to do with HIS specific chart, but to say, what does Pisces in the 11th House mean? In other words, his Sun is in Pisces AND he has Pisces in the 11th house of his Placidus chart. And his Moon is in Leo in his Fourth House in his Placidus chart?
Yes, of course, I can see with a Pisces Sun how Leo would be his 4th house. So, presumably his Moon is in his 4th House. Hmm..
See this is very basic and where I get tripped up .. but thanks very much. I can count upon you to help me out and unmuddy this very muddled mind of mine. Thanks again for your efforts - I will get Mr. Oakland's book as suggested. I apperciate your being so nice.

JohnMike59,
just another idea....find a good site that describes sign and house placements....cafeastrology, skyscript...there are heaps...First read what it says about Sun in Pisces, then moon in leo etc then read what it says about *sun in H11* and put that together with what sun in pisces is like....Its like, the planets, say the sun behaves a certain way when its going through pisces...(ie it gets a bit dreamy, it takes on piscean watery characteristics and the house it is in at the time, in this case house 11 is the place where this energy expresses itself.(so...think, sun behaving a bit like neptune in the place that deals with friends, groups organisations...and where the sun is in a persons chart is where they literally shine (or not, depending on the aspects).
Same with the moon: It likes to be in the fourth house as the moon *rules *this house. When the moon is in Leo it behaves a certain way...it becomes more fiery, more competitive, more assertive than it is when its in cancer, its natural domicile (home)....
i hope this hasn't confused you even more....cheers lillyjgc

Not at all, Lily. I get it now. I just never heard it expressed in that way, that's all.
By the way, next to this site, Cafe Astrolgy is a fabulous site and I would recommend it far and wide -- one can learn so much there alone, but my middle aged eyes get tired very easily these days and I prefer to not read a lot of material on line - though when I am here at this wonderful site, all bets are off!
Thanks again - Mr. Oakland's book is en route. :)
Cheers back at you, my dear!
