Hi,

would anyone please shed some liight on this puzzling darkness of mine?

For example, If person A (Jupiter) at 10 degrees Sag, is in person B (Mercury's) detriment according to Ptolemy's table, then does person A (Jupiter) dislike or have bad feeling towards person B (Mercury)? Or is the other way around.

Thank you!

Hi Neptune, Good question . Mercury is in detriment so he is not very attractive to Jupiter I think. Jupiter, being in own sign looks much better to Mercury, so I think Jupiter is the one who does not like Mercury. (logically speaking). That's why Mercury receives Jupiter, he likes her or him, because Jupiter looks good.

I've never thought of it as 'disliking' someone when one planet detriments another. In this scenario, I would have thought of it as Jupiter is doing something that hurts or upsets Mercury. However, the disliking idea does sound interesting and is probably more accurate in some cases.

Hey thanks very much Starlink and Kaiousei!!

I think I understand! So Mercury is from the house that is opposite Jupiter. So Mercury and Jupiter don't like each other. And even though Mercury isn't currently in his own house, Jupiter will damage Mercury in some way because Jupiter is in his own house...?

Jupiter is upsetting Mercury by being in Mercury's Sign of Detriment, Sagittarius.

I've never really brought into any of that non traditional astrology, to me it does not make sense, since Mercury has no essential dignity in either Sag or Pis. A planet in its own domicile signifies something or someone that is either very strong, or primarily focused on their own needs and wants, or someone whos very afraid to step out of their comfort zone, and comprimise.

No, but Mercury has essential debility in Sagittarius and Pisces...thus why Jupiter's presence there upsets it. It shows a relationship between the two.

Jupiter does not like Mercury because he is weak and Mercury does not like Jupiter because he is either jealous of him or because he is afraid of his strength, but another possibility is that he needs Jupiter to back him up or pep him up a bit, so he receives him reluctantly or with an alterior motive in mind.

And why if both are in fall by house?

example:

Scorp Asc
Taurus Desc

Venus in Cancer in the 8th (in the sign of the moon)
Mars in Gemini in the 7th (sign of the sun)--> Mercury in LEO
Moon in Aries in the 5th (in the sign of mars)

Venus 8th conjunct Sun 9th applying

North Node in the asc... but SN falls in the 7th very near to Mars

BOTH DISLIKE EACH OTHER?

Planet in their own homes means that someone or something, or is very strong, or you want to focus their own needs, or someone WHO is afraid of their own comfort zone, and compromise...
