I was meditating on the deadly blow
the copernican revolution did on astrology.
Although it's true that geocentric astrology
is as valid as ever, astrology as a field of
study is old fashioned due to it's geocentric
worldview. I found this:
http://www.heliocentric-astrology.com/

I think the only way astrology can evolve is
making the jump to heliocentrism. A major
change would be needed to make it appealing
to a new generation of individuals and astrologers.
The only problem is that all books would have to be
rewritten and astrologers would have to study
the new model. All this seems difficult to happen
in the near term.

And what if besides doing this change, we also
go from the tropical zodiac to the sideral one.
That would make traditional astrologer crazy!!!
However I think it's the only way astrology
can evolve as a field of study. I forgot to mention
Opiuchus, the only zodiac constellation not included
in astrology, should be included as well.

Deadly blow?

Although it's true that geocentric astrology is as valid as ever, astrology as a field of study is old fashioned due to it's geocentric worldview.

So...? I'll take old fashioned and valid anyday.

I think the only way astrology can evolve is making the jump to heliocentrism.

As I understand it, astrology 'evolves' everytime a new planet is discovered. Also, do we live on the Sun?

And what if besides doing this change, we also go from the tropical zodiac to the sideral one.

Why? I don't see a need. I'm much more the Leo than the Super Cancer the Sidereal side would make me out to be. *stuffs Jupiter in a box* :D

I forgot to mention Opiuchus, the only zodiac constellation not included in astrology, should be included as well.

Except you'd have to take a basic tenet of astrology, rip it to pieces, then sew it back together with extra pieces. 12 Signs hold equally the entirety of the 360 sky, not 13 Signs, and not 16 Signs as I've seen several sites pushing for. As for sidereal and the inclusion of Serpentarius; where is the equality in Scopio being home to Sol for a week?

yes i agree with kai
I think my objective is to atleast get to know what we have and what other people have researched.
Going on to a new system just for the heck of it is just wasting the effort put in by our fore-fathers.
And if we are getting "results" in the traditional method, why switch on to Helio-centric.

Also, do we live on the Sun?

This argument is a very strong one!Astrology is supposed to reflect the experiences and life of us,human beings,so it doesn't make sense to use the Sun's position as a reference for our planetary placements;also, particularly in the Modern field of Astrology, individuals are regarded as keepers of their own destiny and as the most important part of the astrological experience,so it only makes sense to use the Geocentrical positions of the planets, taking the Earth,us,as the center of our experience.

Maybe one day we'll find creatures living on the Sun and so then we could heliocentrical astrology for them;).

There are actually various astrology programs where you can do astrology from various planets. :) Of course, astrology from different planets is more complicated than just finding the placements of the other planet. :S Astronomical stuff has to be taken in account for and then you have the silly little thing we call the Moon that has to be moved around. -.-' Complicated.
