I would like feedback about secondary progressions - should I consider aspects between progressed planets and natal planets only or also consider
aspects between progressed planets? For example - my friend has prog. venus and prog. saturn conjunct and that seems significant.
I will soon have prog. Mercury (my natal chart ruler) opposing prog. Saturn
and then later prog. Mercury opposing natal Saturn and am thinking BOTH of those aspects are significant which basically means the Merc-Saturn aspect will last longer. My prog. Sun will do the same later - prog. Sun opposing prog. Saturn then opposing natal Saturn. None of this sounds too pleasant although while opposing prog. Saturn these planets also sextile natal Sun and Jupiter which might help.

HH,

Different astrologers do things differently. Personally, I only use progressions to the birth chart.

I use progression aspects to the birth chart. The Sun and Moon are most important when progressed, but you can also use other planets and the ascendant and Fortuna. Think of the progressed Light or planet as the cause of an event and the planet it is directed to, as what the event itself might be.

A trine progressed aspect of the Sun to Jupiter would indicated a favorable opportunity. However, an aspect of the Sun to Saturn could indicate danger from falling. This just happened to an elderly relative of mine in Manchester UK. Progressed Sun sextile natal Saturn; She fell down stairs and became entangled in her power lift. However, she had a call button on her and was able to summon assistance and has since recovered.

Most astrologers are familiar with the use of progressions to the natal chart.
In her book, 'Predictive Astrology' (a.k.a. Eagle and the Lark), B. Brady, however, mentions that progressed to progressed that make no aspect in the natal chart signifies a period that is of importance for that time but that does not relate to the main themes of the natal chart. I suppose it's a bit like an extended transit.

For example - my friend has prog. venus and prog. saturn conjunct and that seems significant.

This could have a number of meanings, of course, depending upon the house in which the conjunction occurs and whether Venus's influence refers to Taurus or Libra? Your friend could be affected by the current economical state, for instance, that affects the personal finances/ investments/ mortgage/salary, even though the natal chart doesn't give any indication of a tendancy towards throwing money down the drain. Most people look towards Venus as romantic commitment. A relationship could begin or end that doesn't have any lasting significance on the person, which would be the case if Venus-Saturn were linked by aspect in the natal chart. But it IS significant for the time in question. The person could be someone older, ranging from a crush on a teacher to the bank manager who refuses a loan.

I will soon have prog. Mercury (my natal chart ruler) opposing prog. Saturn
and then later prog. Mercury opposing natal Saturn and am thinking BOTH of those aspects are significant which basically means the Merc-Saturn aspect will last longer.

This would infer that your natal Saturn is retrograde. Authority issues?
A period of undergoing some serious (Saturn) thinking/studying (Mercury), a mental (Mercury) Blockage (Saturn), learning (Mercury) and taking exams (Saturn), different sides in a long-term( Saturn) friendship (Mercury) question, deciding whether to move on (Mercury) or stay put (Saturn), etc.etc. As long as it doesn't refer to health issues.;)

My prog. Sun will do the same later - prog. Sun opposing prog. Saturn then opposing natal Saturn. None of this sounds too pleasant although while opposing prog. Saturn these planets also sextile natal Sun and Jupiter which might help.

So, whatever you decide upon during the Mercury-Saturn period will effect your further motivation (Sun) in dealing with the issues that loomed like a wall (Saturn) before you.

.....Or something like that.:)

Frisangel -- Thanks for your insights. This is interesting. My friends venus and saturn are not aspected natally but he does have a sun-saturn conjunction. The prog Venus-Saturn conjunction is in Libra in his progressed 8th house (natal 2nd house). It is also interesting that at the time of the prog venus and prog saturn conjunction he also begins a transit of Saturn to conjunct his natal Venus! The progression is exact in about a month and the transit begins in September I think (natal Venus is 2 Libra). We began our relationship April of this year.
Also -- it sounds like you relate my prog Merc opposite Saturn to a situation that lays the foundation for the later Prog Sun opposite Saturn (8 yrs. later).
You also mention health and I do hope it is not that since I was diagnosed wtih MS last year and Mercury is my ruling planet. The progression does sextile Sun in 10th (rules 3rd house) and Jupiter in 2nd (rules 7th house) which is good. Natally Mercury is in a T-square with Saturn and Pluto so it progresses to the empty part of that T-square (natal 12th house).
