In the Astrology Vs Christianity thread, Elianah mentioned this,

Now, I've heard this about Nancy Reagan a lot, but I never knew what the rumours are based on. I'm not American so I'm not familiar with anything related to President Reagan other than that he started out as an actor and that there was an attempt to assasinate him when he was in office.

First elected U.S. President on November 1980, during the last seven years Ronald Reagan served as President - after a failed assassination attempt - First Lady Nancy Reagan allegedly consulted on a regular basis with astrologer Joan Quigley.

In Donald Regan’s “tell all” memoirs, For The Record, he dropped the following bomb: "Virtually every major move and decision the Reagans made during my time [1985-1987] as White House Chief of Staff was cleared in advance with a woman in San Francisco who drew up horoscopes to make certain that the planets were in a favorable alignment for the enterprise." In her later published book, What Does Joan Say? 1990, Ms. Quigley came rather close to crediting astrology (and her astrological skills) with the downfall of the Soviet Union and Communism. Based on her consultations, Reagan was allegedly persuaded to tone down his rhetoric about the “Evil Empire,” and his apprehensions about dealing with Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev were diminished. Through the selection of favorable times, the way was paved for an affable Geneva Summit.

It later came to light that in years previous to his presidency, Nancy Reagan allegedly had contact - of one sort or another - with several astrologers, including Carroll Righter, Joyce Jillson, and even Jeanne Dixon. Even way back then, Nancy Reagan appeared to be using astrology to forecast times of favorable planetary alignments for her husband. By way of small example, when elected the Republican Governor of California on November 8, 1966, he was sworn in at the rather unusual time of January 2, 1967, 00:02 a.m.
