Ryo's Scary-looking Solar Return...

Well, since Radu created this new sub-forum on my birthday, I thought I should grace it with my Solar Return :D which will kick in in just a few hours. So, without further ado.


Frightening, I know! :eek:

The only thing I'm particularly happy about is the Sol/Jupiter Trine. Jupiter has always been my friend, so I'm hoping he helps me out here as the rest of it looks rather unpleasant for me.

First thing new about this year is college. Ninth house ruler is the detrimented Mars. So, does this mean college will be no problem for me (as Sol is obviously much more powerful than Mars) or does it mean that the information I gather from college will be useless to me? Hm... :confused:

Relationships seem to be no good for me this year...what with the horribly placed Saturn ruling the Seventh and Venus being retrograde. Fantastic...Venus kind of smashed my heart already, so her retrogration in my Solar Return worries me some. Hopefully though, since unafflicted Ceres and Juno reside in the two Venus Signs, they may lessen any blows Venus and Saturn throw at me.

Firstly K, Many happy (solar) returns... Hey, This solar return chart isn't all bad..With college being the focus and in H10 rather than house 9 I feel your actions (mars) will take you more into matters of the world...the nitty gritty stuff of earning money, building a persona,. The sun is strongly placed in this chart, approaching a trine to the beneficent Jupiter..and with jupiter square the uranus over the coming year the unexpected may prove to be a blessing...uranus can work like that when attached to benefics.The yod pointing to H5 Pluto is interesting...With all that H5 activity, be careful you don't have a contraceptive accident....Maybe Jupiter's prominence in house 5 is suggesting an emphasis on the recreational side of your life....Sometimes this mix of jupiter and the sun can bring over indulgence into the picture..With the sun applying to an opposition to chiron an old wound may surface to be recognised and healed- something to do with your childhood.Perhaps the large number of retrogrades going on is actually all about revisiting things that have been left unfinished...True venus is retro but it is after all a benefic and thus the return sheds light on "what happened last time"> i am starting to think venus retrograde can even be beneficial- (The retro venus is trining my asc at the moment! so having this for a while longer can't be bad!). The debilitated mars receives a sextile from mercury and the moon- this will help you stay on track with study and learning...having saturn in house one is ok- it puts the emphasis on you becoming a responsible adult (I'm not suggesting you aren't)..The focus becomes your responsibilities in the world- the square to mars might mean that this impedes you in some way (ie "I'd like to do this but I can't because I have to do that" type of idea..this creates a tension that will lead to a change...As the ruler of your H9 college is in H10- also the house of your mother perhaps you will feel restrained in some way in regard to how you want to express yourself. Hi Kai! I agree with Lilly, it does not look terrible at all.If anything, it looks sexually, ha ha! Secret (unsuspected ) sudden (Uranus, ruler 7) affairs (Moon, ruler 12 in the 8th). Venus retro conjuncting the other ruler of your 7th, Saturn in 1 could mean that you get more (or are finally contemplating to become!) more serious about a relationship or that you will encounter a relationship which goes deeper (retro) than usual. Saturn trines exactly Pluto in the 5th of romance, maybe showing a love relationship that will turn you upside down! Jupiter in the 5th trining Sun (from the 12th house side, a bit of secrecy again?) Maybe you should listen to Lilly concerning those contraceptives..... Chiron in 7 conjunct the ruler of the 8th and co-ruler of the 5th, wounds in relation to love and sex which you probably know more about than I do, and that fabulous (now that I have discovered her!!) Juno trine Neptune in the 7th! Hé, if that is not a good sign, I dont know whát is!
I dont know how college things are for you at the moment, how far you still have to go etc. Are you about to finish college and start working? The inconjunct (exact) to Pluto in 5 could mean that your working responsabilities clash with your (compulsive?) romantic pleasures in life.
Actually, I never look at a Solar Return chart just by itself. I always have the natal horoscope next to it and look where solar planets fall in the natal chart or vise versa. (rather, to see where the natal energies are focussing on in this coming year, where you will use them and how.) If the solar aspects is the same or involves the same planets as in the natal, then it gets interesting. Also, many astrologers only look at the square, conjunct and opposition aspects in SR charts, the trines and sextiles are not important. After all we want to see where the dynamics are this year.
One important thing is to look where the Solar Asc. falls in your natal chart. That house will be important and gets main focus for this year. If it happens to fall on or very near (within 5 degrees) the next cusp, take the next house.
Another thing that I found very true is, that if your natal Descendant becomes the Solar Ascendant, your year will be difficult. Is the Natal Ascendant the same as your Solar Ascendant, this year will be very important for personal integration. It always shows extreme happenings.
When I had my natal Ascendant the same as the solar Asc. I left my husband and divorced a couple of years later.

Yeah, I thought this too, but you see, it's really strange. This year is going to be very hectic and busy for me - accursed responsiblitiles - so I think it's weird that'd I'd have this connection to recreation at all. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to watch how the pieces fall into place on this one.

This comment definately sparked an 'ah-ha' moment for me. That calmed my fears of the tyraid of retrograde Venus. Thank you for that. Perhaps Venus is trying to tell me to take the mistakes made in my past relationships and apply them to this new one, that makes a lot of sense considering my past *****-ups have been about identity and whatnot. Another slap in the face a la Venus.

This is exactly what frightens me about the chart. I've never been that kind of person, so it's all kind of strange and foreign to me I've always been more concerned with serious relationships than with the 'no strings attached' sexual whatevers. So, seeing this chart that seems to accentuate that is like a "WHAT!?" reaction.

This has actually already happened, at least on my side of the relationship. That actually seems to be my bane right now, that I feel too serious about it when it's really not what I'm thinking/hoping it is. The 'deeper than usual' thing really surprised me, I didn't think of it like that and this has already happened as well, I don't know how much deeper (for me, personally) it can get.

Hello Kai, I am out for most of the day and will look at this maybe tonight. As You see, Solar Asc. is falling in the 5th and close to the 6th. Both areas get focus this year.
AND LOOK AT THAT SOLAR MOON CONJUNCT YOUR ASC.! MOON being ruler of your 5th of natal chart....

Good Morning Kai! No time yesterday, came back late at night .
OK, next thing, Mars, ruler of 9th (studies) falls in your 2nd house of the Natal chart and sextiles your natal Ascendant, showing that you started your studies (I was a bit puzzled about Mars being in the 10th of your SR., but it could well be that it shows what sort of study you are doing (sextile Merc. in 12 and Moon in 8). Psychology? or something to do with Analysis and other peoples money (banking ?). That's why I thought maybe that a job was involved originally. Solar Return Mercury is the natal ruler of your 7th house and see there, it is in your 5th natal house right now and beautifully trining your Ascendant! Oh wow! indeed, you are in loooovvvvveeee!! Mercury in the Solar chart is ruler of your house of hopes and ideals and found in the 12th, showing your secret thoughts about the relationship. Also Merc. is ruler of your 4th in the natal as well. You probably feel like keeping your thoughts for yourself, sorting yourself out mentally, at home.
I looked at your Mars in the Natal. First of all it is ruler of your intercepted 1st. house, secondly it is at a critical degree, 29°. It has trouble to break out and function the way it should (because of the interception). Mars likes to take action.Your Mars is all the time on the brink of wanting to do something but it is probably slowed down because of the wide trine to Saturn and the fact that it is has progressed in Virgo, since you were around 1 year old, in the 6th. Mars wants to jump before he thinks, and here in Virgo he has to think first which slows him down. This can give you feelings of great frustration at times, especially because Mars is in sextile to your Jupiter, firing it's butt! Mars is also co-ruler of your 8th so this applies also to those areas.But it makes for deliberate action, more focussed which is actually very helpful and in your Solar Return of this year he is in your 10th, which again is a Saturn tinted place of course and it's ruler Venus is in your Solar 1st, conjunct Saturn and also it squares Saturn.
This can indeed show that it could be difficult for you to act on your impulses concerning love relationships which you yourself already somehow felt. You need to study, you cannot act on impuls anymore, this frustrates you of course. Dont forget also that a horary can show things that will happen during this year, but more often than not, it shows what is going on in your head. I know about a case where the 6th house of work was chockeblock full of planets in the horary. The woman was desperate for work and was totally focussed on work. She did not find work that year. It showed clearly that her mind was on work, not that she would get work.
That's where the natal chart and progressions come in. Comparing that with the Solar will tell you what really will happen and what not.
It's a mix of both usually and therefore not easy to interprete. Also look more at the squares and the oppositions, conjuncts, then at the nice trines and sextiles in a Solar Return.
