Hi - your help required

Hi,
I need help from the knowledgable folks of this site. Can anyone tell me of the next date when the 'Sun will be in the 5th house and Saturn in trine'. And any other information
I don't truly understand astrology.

Firstly, welcome to the forums. :)

Without knowing what your birth data is, your question cannot be answered.

The Sun makes one circuit of the zodiac in a 365 day period. This means that in the period of one year, the Sun transits all twelve signs of the zodiac, and will travel through all twelve houses of a native's horoscope.

As people are invariably born with different ascendants, then we all have our houses aligned with different signs, and so the times of year in which the Sun transits the fifth house will be different for all of us.

For example, in Placidus, my fifth house is intercepted in the sign of Gemini, beginning at 07.07 and ending at 23.49, so synchronistically, the Sun happens to right upon the cusp of my fifth house currently, and is so at around this time every year, but this differs for different people according to what sign or signs their houses are aligned with.

This is why we need your data or a horoscope to look at, in order to answer the question.

Ok I understand - Lets just say I'm trying to source when something will happen and I am trying to stop it.
i.e a opening of a gateway that can only happen when the Sun is in the 5th house and saturn in trine. Would I need to know the birth of the summoner or that which is to be summoned

Hobgoblin, When you are the summoner, you must calculate (or have it done) your birthchart. If you are serious about Astrology and not only curious about what you could discover! then you start learning the basics. You find out where your Saturn is placed in your chart, learn what Saturn in that particular sign means, learn what Saturn trine Sun means (apart from learning everything else about all the other planets), then you look at the transits of the Sun and you can find out where he is in your chart at the moment. If your 5th house would fall in the sign of Virgo, then the Sun will enter your 5th house end of August. Then you can see if that Sun will make a trine to your Saturn. But the Sun moves through a sign quite fast (one month) and through a house maybe even faster if the house is small, so it will make a trine (maybe) to your Saturn very briefly.
That which is to be summoned is a bit vague to say the least, but if you know exactly (or think you know) when the "something" will happen, you could make an event horoskope. If you are just a beginner, I dont think you should start doing this as yet. Also I do not think you can "stop" an event by knowing when something is going to happen. In Astrology it is extremely difficult to pinpoint a certain exact moment (usually using the Moon as trigger) and therefore you can only guess more or less when things could possibly happen, like "in the first half of the year" or "around July" or any other month.(using progressions and transits) Astrologers are not clairvoyants and even they often cannot tell you the exact day something will happen (some can). So just start by giving your birthdetails like Draco suggested.
