My father has had one thing after another lately- health problems and accidents. Im wondering what I should look for in his chart to signify accidents? I've looked at his transits-solar return and progressed but decided maybe i wasn't looking for the right thing. Uranus has made squares to some of his natal planets and transiting saturn as well....those were the main things i was looking at....any suggestions?

Mars I think rules accidents and I would so a Mars return to see what might be going on. Uranus , Jupiter and the health houses are worth looking at.

I would also post his birth data.

I hope that this comment doesn't derail the thread to much, but I had been anticipating an accident or some other physical injury when transiting Mars conjoined my Ascendant, and thus far, nothing has happened--not even an argument! Perhaps I will jinx myself with this post, but I almost want something to happen so I can determine the degree of my Ascendant

Is transiting Mars--or even Uranus, for that matter--making any contacts to your father's natal Mars or Uranus? I've heard that this is a particularly accident-prone combination...

Arian, Transits have very little effect unless they have more support from other predictive charts. Lets say with your Solar return we find Mars in Aries in the first, and Mars just happens to be transiting your Ascendant as well, you can expect definately some accident or occurance to happen to your face (Ascendant and Aries both over the head and face). However we have transits that pass us everyday and nothing comes of them because they dont have the support of other predictive charts.

DNA, what part of his body is most afflicted? Look at that House and his Lord.

Here is something I found on the web for accidents. Traditional Astrology :) .

ACCIDENTS:

DISPOSITION to accidents is shown by the affliction of the Ascendant or the Moon by the adverse aspects of the violent planets Uranus, Saturn and Mars . If both the Sun and Moon are so afflicted and the afflicting planet be elevated above the luminaries, there is liability of a fatal termination, which only the intervening good aspect of or can prevent.
Note that a planet intervenes only when its aspect is formed be/ore that of the afflicting body.

Mars when so afflicting the Ascendant or luminaries disposes to accidents by fire; also cuts, bleeding, wounds and abrasions. In human signs Gemini, Aquarius, and Libra it may bring operations or hurts by human hands. In watery signs, scalds; in fiery signs, burns; in earthy signs, abrasions.

Saturn thus afflicting denotes falls, fractures, bruises, blows from falling objects, etc. In earthy signs by falls, earthquakes, explosions of mines, etc.; in watery signs, drowning; in airy signs, by falls from a height; in fiery signs, by explosive missiles, etc.

Uranus similarly afflicting denotes ruptures, broken bones, compound fractures, accidents by machinery, and all extraordinary casualties. Neptune shows danger of poisoning by drugs, noxious gases, etc.

The source from which danger emanates is to be seen from the position of the afflicting planet, as if Mars be in the 6th House, the hurt will come from physicians (surgeons) or servants; in the 3rd, on short journeys; in the 9th, in foreign lands; in the 5th, by sport or play, etc. The affliction being from the 8th House is especially sinister, as it threatens a fatality.

It may perhaps be well to note in these days of extended means of locomotion, that Uranus has special reference to hurts proceeding from defective machinery, break-downs, etc. Saturn denotes collisions, Mars firing or ignition, and when these planets afflict the Ascendant or luminaries from aerial signs, the danger of aviation is increased; in watery signs, aquatics should be avoided; and in earthy signs motoring will add to the peculiar dangers to which the subject will be liable.

The only accident I have had which needed minor surgery, was when I cut my hand on glass washing the dishes. The nerves in my hand were damaged. I needed surgury and then I had to wear a cast on my arm for 6 weeks. I have Mars in the 6th opposed my Virgo Ascendant (assuming my Asc is at the right degree) Mars is in a loose square to Uranus in the 3rd house. I do also have Saturn Conjunct my Asc.

I wonder if the 6th house represents doing the dishes Mars cuts and in Aquarius sudden surgury, nerves Uranus again to the hands possibly the 3rd house. Not sure.
