Hello! I have a question about the synastry between my close friend/lover and myself. I've studied astrology quite a bit, but it's always good to get other's opinions... I am still very much an ameatur.

I am involved with a young man who plans to move to Japan in two years. We became friends almost instantly three years ago, and he meant to keep it at that, but the relationship proved to be more, and now I'm wondering what may happen when he does finally leave. We have become very close emotionally, despite his inhibitions and concern for 'leaving' me when he travels to Japan (my Moon falls in his Ninth house, ha).

But the thing that makes me wonder about it is this: Our houses overlay almost exactly ontop of each other, with our outer planets and Mars all in the same place since we were born about two months apart. In both our charts, our Seventh house (partnerships) falls in the sign of Sagittarius (long distance travel), and Uranus (sudden change) also resides there. In our composite chart it is the same, except the Moon also falls into the Seventh house as well. Composite Uranus also positively aspects the composite Sun and Mecury, which sit in the Fourth house (home, endings)...

Initally I thought, "Yeah that makes sense, Uranus, sudden changes, travel: when he leaves the partnership will end, and he'll probably marry over there or some such thing." But it intrigues me that I have the same aspect in my own chart. Maybe I'll go on a seperate path that also deals with long travels and partnerships, or is it possible that I might tag along with him (probably wishful thinking there)? Does anyone else have an idea of what these aspects might suggest, or what other aspects I might want to look at to get a better idea of how this might go? Perhaps I am looking at this from the wrong angle, even... so any input would be appreciated!

Oh, here is our info if anyone would like:

Welcome aboard :)

Since you were born so close to eachother, atleast in terms of the outer planet orbits, and have the same ascendants, all the planets from Jupiter on out are going to be in the same house. Since your ascendants line up, your composite ascendant would also be very similar, carrying over those placements.

Uranus in the 7th can indicate relationships with eccentric individuals, a need for quickly changing relationships, relationships with shocking people, unique and eccentric relationship habits, etc... The downside to this placement is you may be tempted to break off relationships, possibly for little good reason and just for change. The upside being you can add a lot of excitement to a relationship, as long as the other person can handle it and reciprocates.

It can also indicate relationships based on spiritual philosophy, through social collectives, political associations... And an angular (in the 1st, 4th, 7th or 10th) Uranus can also indicate an interest in technology and astrology, among many other Uranian things.

I should also add, that unless I am mistaken, you are actually a Taurus rising. Possibly you had not set the time zone properly or did not specify daylight savings time? One hour earlier of your birth time (which could indicate you chose pacific daylight time (PDT) for the time zone, or had daylight savings time off, mountain standard time) would give you his Gemini ascendant. Yes, with all these time zones plus daylight savings time to factor in, it's really easy to cast a chart wrong. Daylight savings time is an astrologer's nemesis. I generally check and doublecheck daylight time to be sure, it's caught me off guard a number of times; I've seen astro.com and even high-dollar astrology software get it wrong! I've linked in the chart I come up with based on your given natal data, which is agreed upon by several other applications as well.

This also means you likely have an 8th house Uranus, as well as a Scorpio descendant, if the natal data you provide is proper. The 7th and 8th houses are closely related in terms of relationships; the 7th is just plain relating, relating to anybody else, but the 8th deals specifically with intimate relationships. There are other differences, and each does deal with things outside relationships, but that is the basic concept.

or is it possible that I might tag along with him (probably wishful thinking there)?

Astrology doesn't refute free will... If you think you've found real love and want to check out japan, astrology isn't going to stop you from doing so. Considering you have a 9th house Mars, traveling abroad (9th) is something you have the initiate and drive (Mars) to engage in anyways. I'm not saying the chart says you should, or otherwise trying to encourage you to do so, but think about it... Wishful thinking (aka your dreams) is where you should set your goals... The old adage "follow your dreams" is something not to be forgotten.

If you're looking for further astrological findings for the matter, consider asking a horary question about the move, and inquire about your transits during the time you would make the move.

Thank you very much for your reply! :D I checked my birth chart, and I got my time wrong in that post... it is 2:10 am, DST. That's what I get for trying to deal with numbers at one in the morning! I am Gemini rising. Sorry about that... This is the chart with the right time:

I suppose Uranus in the Seventh house of a composite would indicate that the relationship itself is quickly changing and eccentric, and our natal charts suggest that we get into those sorts of relationships. The Seventh house/Descendant area is rather loaded.

Since my essential question is about how the relationship might come to a close, should I look at the 12th house? There is nothing going on there at all. Unfortunately I have no specific dates to do horary, and I haven't really explored horary much yet. Anyway, thanks again for your help!

I think you'd want to look at the 4th house, as it's said the 4th is the "end of all things" in typical horary application -- I'm not sure if this applies to relationship charts, but it is an idea.

Although I do agree the 12th seems like a logical choice as well!

If you know the timeframe he'll be moving, certainly transits for that timeframe might be revealing as well.
