babeldaob: I have looked at your chart. I take the asc to be YOU, ruled by Mercury (in mars's sign, in H10). Your ruler is trine to both Jupiter and Saturn , both in fire signs and both in retrograde motion. I take the ruler of the lost object to be the cusp of H2 (possessions).The moon rules the missing object and its proximity to your asc. tells me the object is near you-cancer suggesting the sentimental attachment to the object. The moon is separating from an opposition to Pluto in H7 ,describing the loss of the object.The moon is also separating from a sextile to Venus in H12, secret sorrows.Venus is the natural ruler of H2 so this does not bode well for recovery despite the moon's strong dignity in cancer.So, what will the moon do next? It will trine mars at 12 deg pisces, trine north node at 16 deg pisces and trine uranus at 17 deg pisc. so far it looks good- but then the moon will square your ruler mercury at 19 deg. and this will be its last (horary) aspect. In addition the part of Fortune, very important in finding lost objects is late in the sign, making no aspects.This does not bode well for recovery of the item- When one looks at the end of the matter -H4 cusp that is ruled by mercury and venus- again no aspect between these two, even though venus is in Mercury's sign. On balance, you may find the object but i think it will be maybe run over by the car...the loss of it is connected with your journey in the car (mercury/Mars). I am sorry, but I don't think you will get it back.Lillyjgc

Hello, this may help.

The Moon as ruler of the 2nd, in the 1st, tells us that it is somewhere nearby, or near your home.

The 1st house rules the direction 'East'.

Cancer: near water, rivers, the sea; in the home: bathrooms or cellars.

Also pale colours: grey, beige, silver, white (bathroom fittings?0.

The Moon: fields, fountains, the bathtub or sink; also highways, rivers, fishponds, and standing pools of water.

I would retrace your steps from when you got out of your car; look in eastern-facing or placed locations, near a source of water or something of pale colour.

I think there *is* a chance you will find it; the Moon's (your duck's) next application is by trine to Mars, in a watery sign. Mars rules your 11th house of hopes.

ALSO: the POF is in your 3rd house. You *might* want to try checking the car again, like between the seats or in the crack between your seat cushion and the back of the seat. I lose things there, all the time.

Good luck!

AG:)

Good morning,

Thanks so much for your replies. If I understand correctly, you're both saying that the item is lost/misplaced, and not in the possession of another person (who found and intends to keep it), right? Is there anything in the chart that indicates how and when I will retrieve it if I will at all? Also, can you tell whether it is in the open or in a closed space/covered by something?

@Lillyjgc
There's just one thing in your "itinerary" (thank for that, too) that I could not follow:

"The moon is also separating from a sextile to Venus in H12, secret sorrows."
Is it? Or did you mean the sextile to Sun in H11?

@Archergirl
I turned the car upside down several times, and I will certainly do it again today. My car's interior is greyish/pale in color, and oftentimes (like last weekend) I use the car to carry drinking water/rain water, so in this case "near water" could apply to my car, too, couldn't it?

Many thanks,
BabelD

I'm going to play this as a textbook case of a missing object.

Since this object is your own, it is ruled by the second house and thus Luna. Luna is in an angle, so we can judge that the duck is within the house, since Luna is in the first house, we can take this further and say that the duck is somewhere where you most frequently are inside the house (try double-checking your bedroom, the living room, or any other part of the house where you are.) Luna is strong in Cancer and the first house, so the object is close to water, bearing the first thoughts in mind, I think of the kitchen, a pool (should you have one in your yard), and the bathroom.

As for direction, the sign ascending (Gemini) denotes West by South, Mercury in Aries denotes the East, Fourth house Virgo denotes South by West, Mercury in Aries, again, denotes the East, three Cancers (Luna in Cancer, second house cusp, lady of second in Cancer) denotes three testaments for North, and PoF in Leo denotes East by North.

It's odd that there are an equal number of Fire and Water and an equal number of Earth and Air. They seem to kind of cancel each other out. The only way I can make sense of this is with the following statement: The duck is on a shelf (or something that's off the ground) near an entrance way to the place you most frequent, the shelf is on, pushed up against, or all around near the wall and next to a watery object. The first thing that this brings to mind is a shelf by the door to the washroom or perhaps the kitchen.

It's going to be very freakin' weird if that's where it is.

Babeldaob, Yes you are right- my mistake, moon sep from a sextile to sun in H11 (hopes and wishes).Sorry about that.Perhaps it will come to light when saturn goes direct...I feel it is OUTSIDE.The moon separates from an opposition to Pluto (which I see as the loss of the object- as pluto is in Sag, which rules outdoors I see it was lost outdoors. sometimes moon opp pluto signifies the end of a chapter, but for your sake I hope not.From my understanding, the moon's last aspect before leaving the sign describes the outcome.The moon will square Merc. (you) as its last aspect which suggests to me that there will not be satisfactory resolution.Your ruler, Mercury is also inconjunct the H4 cusp,house of endings and outcomes....lillyjgc

@lillyjgc

:: Babeldaob, Yes you are right- my mistake, moon sep from a
:: sextile to sun in H11 (hopes and wishes).
Which again describes the sentimental attachment that you mentioned. Also, sometimes I am hopeful that I might get it back -- which is somewhat unusual for me. Wishful thinking, I am afraid.

:: Sag, which rules outdoors I see it was lost outdoors. sometimes
:: moon opp pluto signifies the end of a chapter, but for your sake
:: I hope not.
Whether I'll find it or not, I will have learned a lesson about the dangers of projecting something on material things. Maybe realizing that is some kind of a chapter's end.

@ Kaiousei no Senshi
:: the duck is somewhere where you most frequently are inside the house [...] a pool (should you have one in your yard)
So this could mean the places where I am most frequently 1) inside the house as well as 2) around the house, right?

:: It's odd that there are an equal number of Fire and Water and an equal number of Earth and Air. They seem to kind of cancel each other out.
My first thought was in the car -- fire (engine) and water (the drinking water I mentioned), on the ground (of the car) and above the ground (road) at the same time. But as I said -- couldn't find it.

"The first thing that this brings to mind is a shelf by the door to the washroom or perhaps the kitchen."
Nothing.

One general and very basic technical question, -- the strong emphasis on cancer (water), could that mean that it might be brought to surface by heavy rain, for instance?

Thank you so much. I'll keep searching...

I'm not so sure about this. As I said before, Luna in the first house shows the duck should be inside your house, however, if you have a carport or something, I would still think that it would count as "inside" the house, seeing as how there's a roof over it. I would say, definately check the North/NorthEast part of your house (which is probably the part you most frequent), I would also check immediately outside the house in these directions. Or, you could answer a simple question. Where is there a lot of water in your house?

The significators of the item lost are Venus and/or the Lord 5th House (which is also Venus). Dont be sidetracted into the belief that Sun= EVERYTHING that is gold. While yes, the Sun is a strong gold indicator, the fact you keep it on your body and close by at all times explicitly describes its an ornament. With Venus in Gemini;

In Houses : Hanged or wainscot rooms, the hall, dining room, chests, coffers, and trunks.

Also Libra is an airy Sign and therefore signifies the West. I would also check the upper rooms of your House being the natural significator of airy as whcih is also indicated here;

Particular Places : Store houses, high places, hills and mountains.

Its also worth mentioning that Venus is Squared Mars applying which means that you will have a lot of difficulties finding it but in the end it will turn up. Hope that helps you!

In that case, you would still expect it to be in or around the house, wouldn't you?

I'll go any distance...

Do you see anything concerning the time factor?

Thanks!

Yes, the item is very close to you being that the 12th House rules that which is hidden and close to us (Ascendant). As far as how long it will take to find, Venus being in a common Sign would indicate days, however, as aforementioned, the strong square with Mars will impede this.

Dear all,

I wanted to share the news with you: today I got the duck back. You have no idea how relieved I am. :)

I had placed an ad in the newspaper last week and also put up a notice in my car and at various other places for people to see, just in case someone had found the duck. And miraculously, someone had, a young girl. Apparently I had lost the duck on the road, just a few meters away from my house. The girl found it there, on the road (asphalt, -- pale color, archergirl?), that same day. She took it home; when she saw the “lost item” notice in my car, she came to see me and told me she had found it. After that it took her a couple of days to retrieve it because she had misplaced it somewhere in her house (where it was eventually found in the dirty laundry).
The house, Kaiousei no Senshi, is Northeast from mine.
Yes, lillyjgc, I did lose it outside, and the loss was connected with the journey in my car; and yes, now the duck carries a few scratch marks that might be due to a car running over it.
astro.teacher, you were right in that it took more than a few days to get it back, and it required quite some effort…

Many, many thanks to you all for your help…!

Great news, babeldaob! I love a happy ending! :D

I mentioned the POF in the 3rd house, which I had associated with your car. The third house rules, amongst other things, your neighbours!

Well done to everyone who contributed, methinks. This is a great 'learning' chart!

Best,
AG:)
