I recently applied for an executive position in a medical facility which promises more money and better conditions. Will I be offered the job?

Hi Dooze,

Before starting, please check out this link. It's really helpful if you give us some 'bones' for a chart, even if you don't feel confident that you know what you are doing! :p We all start off as beginners, don't we?

Other astrologers will be very happy to pitch in with pointers, if you'll give it your best shot.

Best wishes,
AG:)

Here's the chart of the question, which I didn't know how to paste in here...

http://mychart.astrologyweekly.com/files/2732007113039-75.gif (http://mychart.astrologyweekly.com)

Here is a link to my natal chart.
http://www.astro.com/cgi/chart.cgi?cid=1tgfileU32Hhp-u1007388981&lang=e&gm=a1&nhor=1&nho2=3&btyp=24&mth=gw&sday=27&smon=3&syr=2007&hsy=0&zod=&orbp=&rs=0&ast=

We've got the sun in the 12th house -- interesting, since I am applying to a hospital. We've got venus in taurus -- a good spot for it, it is strong there, but my ascendent in my natal chart is scorpio (opposite) and my venus is in scorpio conj. sun, so I am not certain if that is a good sign for me. I am interviewing with a woman, so that might be good. Being influential and attracting money is what they hope I will do for them in the job.

Looks like two sextiles, one between the venus in the first and mercury in the eleventh (would be good impression of my professional background-associations?) and a sextile between mars and jupiter in (10?) and (8th?) houses. This chart's 10th house cusp has the opposition between mars/neptune conjunction in aquarius -10th in this chart - (4th in my natal) and saturn in leo (this is 10th in my natal chart), (4th here) which could mean that there are conflicts and challenges between my career ideals and will (what I want) and restrictions because of my home or background?

You see, I am confused between the horary aspects and the natal aspects. I also am not as certain about the rulership of the signs, although I know that mars and pluto are my natal co-rulers of scorpio. The jupiter placement in sag is in my natal 2nd house, and it is conjunct my natal chiron. I take that to mean that I may benefit from improved financial state as I feel better about myself. (Accept my own value.) Here the saturn in leo (which is also right on my natal Pluto in leo) is trining the jupiter in sag (4-8) so maybe that counteracts or mitigates the opposition between mars and saturn. I have natal mars opposite uranus in cancer (my natal 8th) which causes me to sometimes lose my temper, but also helps me to raise $ from unexpected sources. I'm inituitive usually about other people's money.

I just can't fully absorb the horary instructions about looking for the ruler and aspects to it. I appreciate any assistance or direction that you can give me. As for my gut instinct, I think they will want me for the job but the timing might not be as soon as I want it to be. I may have to work through obstacles, but when it comes to me, the offer will be a good one.

That's my guess, but I never did this before, so I really do need help!

Thanks.

Hi Dooze,

Oooh, hang on a sec...

Your original question said '8.30 am' but your chart says, '11.30'. Since you first asked this question at 8.30, it is *very* important that you read the chart for this time, not the later time! It may make a HUGE difference!

I'll have a look on my own program. If you can repost a chart with the original time, that would be great. And no worries about your reading; you made a great effort! My advice would be to take your natal aspects completely out of the picture (and put them out of your mind) while reading a horary chart; it will only confuse you! Horary has its own rules.

For a horary chart, you can answer almost any question by looking at Lilly's 'considerations'; but the first things to check in your chart will be the rulers of the Ascendant (which will be 'you'); the Moon; and the significator for the 10th house, which will represent an executive-level job position. An easy way to figure out what's what is: applying aspects will mean positive or developing movements; separating aspects will mean the opposite.

Best,
AG:)

Aargh... I feel like I am ye olde butterfingers. Let me try this again, with this... the time I said was definitely the time I asked, not 11:30!!

Forgetting the natal stuff, I will look at this and try again to interpret.

O.K., Archer Girl, here is what I see
I don't know what applying or separating aspects are... I mean, going toward would be applying, but what are separating aspects?

but to go on, looking at what I can see

ascendent is Leo, ruler is the sun (me in this) and sun is in aries in exaltation, in 9th house, not applying to the midheaven, I am being assertive about my ideals and taking action

moon is in cancer (in dignity) in the 12th house (my karma, my wishing for a "home" in my worklife? ambivalence about choice?)

saturn (responsibility, duty, limits) in detriment in leo (grand authority) opposite mars (will-drive- hence rebellion) and neptune (idealism or illusion) conj. in the 7th (others, partners, adversaries) in aquarius (innovation, humanitarianism)

but - also trine jupiter in sagitarrius (dignity for jupiter) in 5th (creative expression, fun)
jupiter sextile mars/neptune in aquarius (5th to 7th) good fortune from idealistic others (possible partners, donors, board members?)
10th house is Taurus, with venus in it in dignity (wealth and beauty)
venus aspects - sextile mercury in pisces in 8th (detriment for mercury) -charm and sensitivity in communication
also sextile uranus in pisces in 8th - personal magnetism works well with intuition and social skills

8th house is very important in this for me, because the job is about channeling other people's resources (8th) into humanitarian use (philanthopy - which I think of as being aquarian for its redistribution of resources for higher purposes)

mutual reception between neptune in aquarius (7th) and uranus in pisces (8th) idealism works well with innovative ideas?

the major negatives are the oppositions between saturn and mars-neptune from 1 - 7 (reality of the job-partnership is not as glamorous or ideal as I wish?) also, the possibility that I will be too brash or opinionated for the existing authority structure?

and the square between jupiter in 5th (adventurous, taking a chance on something new? wanting to expand creativity) and uranus in pisces in the 8th (unexpected outcomes in regard to 8th house matters?)

and my question is is this balanced by the sextiles from venus in the 10th to the same planets (uranus and mercury)? Or is this not enough to counterweigh these issues?

Anyway, no doubt it would help to have any of your insights -- once you start drilling down into these houses and rulerships, you can get quite blind to the obvious. This would be the week that the interviewer said she would be making a decision, so it would be great to have some sort of heads up on your impressions.

Thanks anyway -- for steering me in the direction of learning more about horary elements and signals.

Hi Dooze,

I am scratching my head a little, because when I ran your chart I got a Taurus ascendant, (Regiomontanus house system).

Can I confirm the following:

27 March 2007
08:31 hrs (morning)
Camden, Delaware

??

Unless I've REALLY got the wrong end of the stick! :p

Cheers,
AG:)

Yes, March 27, and 8:30 a.m. I used the chart generator on this site, and here's the link
http://www.astrologyweekly.com/chart.php?y=2007&m=3&d=27&h=8&min=30&lat=39.02&long=75.45&zone=16

Not sure what kind of house system this chart generator uses, or yours either. I am confused, too!!

(Between us we should be able to figure it out?!)

Aaack.

I think one niggle with the program you've used is that you have to put in EDT; the chart I get when I click your link has the time as Greenwich Mean Time. If you change the time zone on the chart you are using, you get a 'too late' Virgo rising, which is *still* different from the one I have.

I am using Astrodienst. Out of all the programs out there I find this one to be the most accurate (they're Swiss; what can you expect?:p ).

I am utterly baffled as to why you have gotten a different Ascendant.

This is the chart I have: Sorry for the long hyperlink!!
http://www.astro.com/cgi/chart.cgi?cid=5hgfile786rZC-u1175544581&lang=e&gm=a1&nhor=1&nho2=1&btyp=2&mth=gw&sday=2&smon=4&syr=2007&hsy=5&zod=&orbp=&rs=2&add=18&fix=1&ast=

I hope some other astrologers will try this on their chart programs and let us know what they get!

Perplexedly,
AG:)

I don't know what the difference could be either. Maybe there is a time zone problem in what I entered (I slipped up once already with the 8:30 a.m. time not being correctly entered when I used the program). Or perhaps the lat and longitude is not correct in that chart. I usually believe Astrodienst, too.

Let's pick your chart, and say that Taurus is rising. It changes the houses, of course, so now I need to look at those differently, but the aspects are the same. Maybe even better, I didn't notice the sun trine moon before, just the saturn trine jupiter.

Ommmmmm... back to the drawing board.

(The process is keeping me laughing at myself which is good, because the anxious "wanting to know" but "not wanting the wrong answer"! is taking seriousness to an unhealthy obsessive level.)

What strikes you as obvious in this chart? Maybe we start there...

Okay, perhaps the chart agreed to will work! :p

Sun hour, Taurus Ascendant. The Lord of the Hour and the Lord of the Ascendant do not 'match', so we will proceed with caution.

Three things stand out immediately:

Venus, your significator, is very strong and dignified, in her own sign, sitting smack-dab on the Ascendant.

The Moon is at very late degrees and has completed her last aspect to any planets while in her sign. She is technically 'Void of Course'. This is a second 'caution' about reading your chart. However, Lilly says: Generally consider the state of the Moon, for if she be void of course there’s no great hopes of the Question propounded, that it shall be effected; yet if she be in Cancer, Taurus, Sagittarius or Pisces, your fear may be lesse, for then she is not much impedited by being voyd of course.

And third, what baffles me slightly is that the 10th significator, Saturn, is not posited in a place where he 'ought' to be (in the sense that usually one sees the significator placed in a relevant house, e.g. the 10th (ambition) or 11th (hope) or even 6th (mundane 'work')). Saturn is placed on the cusp of the 5th house, which rules everything *but* hospitals (it rules pubs, theaters, brothels:p and other places of 'fun'). The ruler of that 5th house, the Sun, is placed in the 12th (of hospitals, strangely), and it is to the Sun that your VOC moon applies, when she changes signs. The Sun and Saturn, although they are applying by trine, at this point in time are not 'friendly' and are in a very unbalanced situation by reception (Saturn is in fall in Aries, where the Sun currently sits). I'm wondering whether this job would turn out to be not very pleasant, as nasty Saturn, which is both in detriment and retrograde (job) sits in the house of pleasure. Enjoyment (Leo=Sun) is where Saturn (job) is in detriment. Venus, your significator, applies by square to Saturn. I think you'd hate this job, to be very honest.

If we took the 6th house of 'work' (as opposed to the more exalted state of career), Mercury, the ruler, applies by sextile to Venus, and Mercury is in the sign of Venus' exaltation, Pisces. However, this isn't a good place for Mercury, as Mercury is in fall. So again, an unbalanced state of affairs.

Mercury also rules your 2nd house of money; it is placed in the 11th house of hopes. You mentioned that this position would offer more money, and because Mercury is in the sign where Venus is exalted, this is where you perhaps are pinning your hopes? Mercury isn't in good condition, though!

I am wondering about the situation you currently find yourself in; I recall you've had other work queries, so I assume you are either not currently employed or are looking to better your status and leave your present post? Your position as Venus, right on the angle, is very, very strong. You *know* what you are worth. But both the 'job' significators are in terrible shape, and I do wonder about that placement in the 5th house. This would seem to say that you are looking for a job that you won't 'enjoy': Venus 'joys' in the 5th; it is her home, and you square your own 'career' significator from this house!

I do not think you will be offered this job; the VOC moon and Venus' applying square to Saturn would deny an offer. The Moon is in the 4th house, which rules 'the end of the matter', and if we use the '5-degree rule' for cusps, Saturn *also* sits in the 4th. From what the significators say, you might not want this job in the long run, anyway; there is nothing wrong with having Saturn as significator for the 10th (it is very fitting for an executive position); but this particular Saturn is in detriment and retrograde. NOT a good indicator of a job one would enjoy, perks or not.

[Edit:] I went back this a.m. to examine Jupiter, which is in very close aspect with Saturn. An application to the greater benefic *could* mitigate, if all else in the chart is positive. But Jupiter in this chart rules both the 12th house and the 8th house, and sits in the 8th. The 8th is the darkest of all the houses and rules anxieties and fears. Jupiter magnifies everything it touches; so in this case, it is not helping (it has no aspects to either the moon or Venus), but making your anxiety worse!

The Moon, once she leaves her VOC state and enters Leo (this perhaps indicates a 'waiting' period) next applies to the Sun, which is exalted in Aries. The Sun rules the 5th house, as I said. It is in the 12th. Children's hospital?

I think a better opportunity will come along after a period of waiting. The Sun is very strong in Aries. The Moon will also be in the Sun's own sign, and will apply in that sign to conjunct Saturn. Saturn will turn direct in early May, I believe, and won't be in *quite* such bad a shape then. The Moon will transfer the light from the Sun to Saturn, in a trine aspect. I would look to something better (more enjoyable!) occurring around then.

I hope this helps and makes sense! Please feel free to disagree, comment, ask questions, whatever! I'm still a student as well; this is a learning experience for everyone. And if you *do* get the offer, please let me know, so I can look through the chart to see what I missed (and offer apologies all around...).

Best wishes,
AG:)

Thank you so much!!! I also was very puzzled by the 5th house issue, and the negatives with saturn. It is very possible that I would not "enjoy" this position, and since I am looking for a position that is an improvement for me (represented by allowing me creative expression -- that is definitely 5th house -- along with being valued/having authority -- thinking venus and saturn) this chart is not indicating those positive factors in this scenario.

My situation to date -- yes, I am employed currently, and the job I have does allow me a fair amount of autonomy and creative expression. I am frustrated because I have been de-valued, and had some of my power base eroded due to competitive feelings between my boss and myself. I am not being fairly compensated for the value of my work, and I know it. Once you know such things, you want to move on, if you don't feel you can change things for the better where you are. There is risk in moving right now, and some assets could be left behind. I have no necessity of taking another job right now, but I would be very interested in doing so if it was the right job.

Thank you for your insight and your cautions. I have not heard from these people, and I think I will wait and see how the situation evolves, and look forward to May! I will get back to you on whatever I learn.

Outcome: no, I did not get the job. I heard on April 20, 2:21 pm, Camden, DE 39N1 75W27

http://www.astro.com/cgi/showgif.cgi?lang=e&gif=astro_2gw_06_crhs_hp.38628.24061.gif&res=100&va=&cid=1tgfileU32Hhp-u1007388981

This chart is pretty easy to interpret. (Because of all the squares and oppositions, late ascendent, etc.) But then it would be when you know the answer! LOL

Thanks to you all for your input, good info.

I will take a break from my job searching for now, since I am busy at my current job and have looming family obligations in the next month. I have enjoyed learning some principles of horary interpretation, though.

Hi Dooze,

Thanks very much for updating us on this question! I am sorry you didn't get the job, but I am also glad because it meant my reading of the chart was correct! :p I feel quite sure something better will come along, in its time.

Best wishes,
AG:)
