‎"With the latest and greatest about the US SENATE VOTING AGAINST GMO LABELING, it has become blatantly clear that our government is no longer a Government of the People, by the People, for the People. It looks more like this lady says-- except the animals she mentions are more decent than our reps doing stupid things like voting against GMO labeling. There can be no other reason they would do something like this other than to protect the interests of companies like Monsanto. If your rep is listed here as voting against labeling GMOs, give them a call or ask publicly on their FB site for a rational explanation as to why they chose to vote that way. You want to know the following: How is voting AGAINST LABELING GMOs in the best interest of the citizens they are supposed to be representing??? http://movetoamend.org/ "

I will proudly point out that my Senators from the state of Oregon do not appear in this list.

Way cool Oregon.
Nor are the Senators from Calif on that list ...and thanks to your post Kannon, it caused me to look for Washington and I notice that Senator Murray from Washington is the only Senator listed that voted 'Yea' for some strange reason [unless because it may be the only State with a split vote. I'll go all through the states and see what's up about that.]
I am particularly disturbed by Senator Franken of Minnesota voting against this...but upon checking the internet to confirm that this is the one and same Al Franken that I've known of from SNL tvI find that He is a member of the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party, which affiliates with the national Democratic Party... I never heard of this 'offshoot', affiliate Democratic party and wonder if the inclusion of the word 'Farmer' in the party name has anything bearing on this?
As 75 out of 100 Senators voted 'Nay' [and upon checking other reliable references on the internet [ http://www.grass-roots-press.com/2012/06/21/udall-votes-for-bingaman-against-gmo-labeling/ ] I find that both Senators from the State of Washington voted for GMO labeling...so the listing of Senator Murray must have been a slip that got overlooked in the editing process.

Not a single Republican voted 'Yea' and the lone independent , Bernie Sanders voted 'Yea'.
the States of Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Maryland, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington and West Virginia are the only States that voted unanimously 'Yea' for GMO labeling.

The States of Colorado, Massachusetts, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico and South Dakota were split votes.

Maybe Calif. Oregon, Washington, Hawaii, should secede and become their own country. It would be one of the top 10 Nations on Earth as far as wealth, resources, etc. maybe as high as #5.
California still has more gold unearthed in it's river beds, abandoned and active mines [not counting the fact that the 'Mother Lode' is reputedly never to have been found.] than the U.S.A has left in Fort Knox. Meaning any currency issued by such a political state would undoubtedly be more valuable and stable than most of the worlds currency, and is probably the source of the majority of gold in Fort Know in the first place... [or was..as rumor is there isn't any gold in Fort Knox any longer..as the USA is allegedly bankrupt] which gives me reason enough to sneer at the claim that every American citizen supposedly owes some $50,500.00 as Calif. put up most of the gold and if the shmucks in D.C. ******* up and blew it or lost it in a gamble then they shouldn't come telling Californians that we owe anything. If we had never joined the Union we'd be a lot better off at the present...inestimably so at that.

Here's the complete list of the 26 Senators that did vote for it.

While Cardin and especially Mikulski are in bed with defense contractors (a huge, huge problem in Maryland), it's good to see that they are not owned by Monsanto, Dow...

But the fact that a common-sense proposal from Sanders shows to what extent the dictatorship of narrow economic interests rules the land and influences politicians.

The economic system can solve any problem that calls for a small technological fix. BUT it is incapable of solving any healthcare problems, social problems and ecological problems that are a by-product of someone's profits.

...and now...

This week the House of Representatives will consider a provision to House Agricultural Appropriations Bill that will fundamentally undermine the concept of judicial review. Hidden under the guise of a “Farmer Assurance Provision” (Section 733), the provision strips the rights of federal courts to halt the sale and planting of genetically engineered crops during the legal appeals process.

In the past, legal advocates have successfully won in court the right to halt the sale and planting of unapproved GMO crops while the approval of those crops is under review by a federal judge. This dangerous new House provision, which were calling the Monsanto Protection Act, would strip judges of their constitutional mandate to protect consumer rights and the environment, while opening up a floodgate of planting of new untested genetically engineered crops.

...and the s hits just keep on coming, folks...

People don't want to eat that GMO cr@p and they know it. So sad that political power and monetary interests STILL end up causing suffering for the human race now in 2012.
