I've been experiencing Pluto cj Moon for a while and have gone through a couple of really rough years. I'd love to see things settle down, but have this looming :( How can I best use the energy of Pluto cj ASC which dominates the next solar return? What do I need to be careful of?

Pluto wants to transform where ever he travels for the better. A positive use of his energy is deep cleaning, recycling what we no longer need or use, remodeling. In this case it is your persona, at least for the Solar year. Pamper yourself, maybe a new look that is more you. What is hiding beneath the surface that would be better coming to the surface to be a transforming process? Pluto has double rulership because of the interception so the 11th and 12th will play in (friends or goals and their value) but the house he rules in the natal is key.

Dear Alice, First of all, I dont think you have to be afraid of your health, even though the Moon is found in the 6th. Moon trines the Sun, very positive. Ruler 6 sextiles Venus and trines Mars. Have a look in your birthchart. Where does the Solar Ascendant fall? That is the house that will be affected during this year. If the Solar Ascendant falls within 5° orb. of a next house cusp, then take that house. Pluto in the Solar Return chart is ruler of the 10th and 11th, career and friends, social circumstances and hopes and ideals. There is an indication here of course that you could go through a deep psychological change with regard to romance, relationships, or a special relationship. Pluto is making a nice trine to Venus, ruler of your 4th and 5th solar houses. Pluto makes an opposition to Mars, ruler of the 3rd and co-ruler of the 10th in the solar return. There could be a relationship with someone at work, a collegue which could turn out to be confrontational and where there could .be a necessity to balance things out. In a Solar chart you should actually only look at the difficult aspects and now we come to the heart of this chart which is Uranus in tight T-square with the Moon and Jupiter. Uranus is ruler of the 2nd house of income. You could get sudden unexected expenses this coming year. Jupiter always expands things, the Moon also shows tendencies to make things bigger, so be careful with your finances I would say. Because the 2nd house is the Taurus house, combined with Jupiter and Moon, that could point to a tendency to gain weight or an extreme way of trying to loose weight. Moon is in the 6th house of health, diets etc. Jupiter is also ruler of the Ascendant, your body. The 12th also ruled by Jupiter shows subconscious motives which could lead to either excessive eating or dieting. Also Pluto on the Ascendant could show a total "renovation" in the way your body looks. I personally dont see anything "dangerous" apart from a possible confrontation with a friend or friends, or a partner which should be dealt with. You must look at this chart in the light of your birthchart, always and see where the Moon and other important planets fall in your birthchart. The houses into which they fall play also important parts in this years occurences. Good luck!

Hello Alice, the Solar Ascendant is the Ascendant of your Solar Chart.Every year you can make a new Solar Chart which will just give you an indication for 1 year. You then calculate a new chart, with a new Ascendant.
So, when in your natal chart, you have an Ascendant in a certain sign, then in the Solar chart, you will get another Ascendant. Now look where this solar Ascendant falls in your Natal chart, in which house. That house will be important for that particular year. Sometimes the Solar Ascendant is going to be the same as your natal Ascendant, just on a different degree. When that happens, then you can count on a very (often dramatic)year!. Should your natal Descendant sign appear on the Solar Ascendant, then you could have a pretty difficult year ahead of you. So you see, you must ALWAYS use the natal Ascendant and compare it with the Solar Chart. Look where important planets from the Solar chart fall in your Natal chart and vice versa.

Hi Starlink - I'm still a little unsure of how to calculate the solar chart using IO. It seems to me that the options I have are: Natal Chart, Sunrise Chart, Lunar Return, Solar Return, Quotidian Q2 (no idea what this is), Naibod Secondary, Solar Arc Direction, Tertiary Progression, Minor Progression, Secondary Progression, Tertiary SA Progression. I don't understand what some of these are - could the terminology be different? Or maybe I simply don't have the right package for calculating the solar chart :(
It certainly sounds extremely interesting!

Alice,
Io can calculate the chart starlink describes:
- Type in the data for your birth chart in the "data box"
- Save the data
- Press control D (this creates an exact copy of your data in a new box)
- Select "Solar Return"
- Save the data
- Click on your birth chart data box so it is above the Solar Return databox
- Select a two chart format from the drop down lists
Make sure your birth chart is in the center ring. If it is not, close the chart, click on your birth chart data box again and recreate the chart. If you have a problem following these instructions, take a look through your manual for Io. It explains how to create charts in there.
Charting in Io,
Tim

Well I was certainly right to be scared of this Solar Return. But what has really made me dig up this thread is the observations of starlink and what was said about the extreme weight gain or extreme weight loss. I've lost 12kg's since I posted this about a year ago - all very weird since I've not changed my diet that much.
Still no wiser on the Solar Ascendant. It's probably something really simple but use a different phrase for or something.
But five months into this Solar Return and it feels as though life is coming apart at the seams from all directions. I'm not talking to my parents, we've just expanded our work into a new space but there's something in me that seems to want to destroy it, my husband and I are always arguing and I'm worried for our future. Problem is that I'm not sure next year's looks any better:

Hi Alice, sorry to hear all the things you went through the last couple of years and with the first 5 month of your SReturn, and the year is not over yet by far! The fact that your life feels like it is coming apart can indeed be attributed to Pluto in the Solar Return chart (2007-2008), because he squares your Natal MC. (1°orb difference) Solar Asc. squares your natal MC exactly. This shows that your social status , career if you have one, could undergo a deep total change or you feel that things must drastically change in your life and your home.
Because transiting Pluto is also conjunct your natal Moon (or has been) it is no wonder that you have felt the effect of this transit. Because the SR Ascendant falls in your natal 2nd house, this could have affected your finances as I mentioned and/or your self confidence quite dramatically, more so because you natal Moon also falls in your natal 2nd house. There is natally already a tendency for you to feel insecure and being financially secure and knowing that you have financial and personal support from a partner is essential to your emotional welbeing. So with this Pluto hovering around your Moon, you must indeed feel very insecure and scared basically of losing ground. This "something" in you to want to destroy whatever it is, is very Plutonic indeed. I have the feeling (also because you mention that you dont talk to your parents, very clearly seen by the square from the Moon to Uranus) that this Pluto transit is bringing a lot of childhood trauma's to the surface. Things that are happening at the moment in your life must somehow remind you of a time where you were wanting to do away with all the bad things in your life. Now that you are facing problems with your husband, you want to do the same thing. It is very twisted in a way, because you do want to get things straightened out with him, you want peace and no more fighting and you try to get rid of the problems between you both by destroying the existing establishment, in fact steering towards a total ending (Pluto) of everything. Somehow, you dont want to go on working with him (I have the feeling) and the new space you are talking about probably just seems like patching up something that in fact is not working anymore.
You could be desillusioned by your partner as progr. Neptune is nearing your Venus (1° orb), ruler of your 7th.
Progressed Moon just entered into his own sign shortly after your birthday and about 4.5 month before that opposed your natal Moon. Progressed Moon is situated in your 8th house again accentuating the the fact that you are being faced with big emotional turmoil, affecting your self confidence as the progr. Moon also went over your Jupiter, ruler of the 2nd and makes an inconjunct to Juno and widely to Mars, forming a YOD. You could be faced with a choice at this point. Problems can be associated with finances.
Transiting Saturn just crossed your MC, and believe it or not, is now also forming a temporary YOD with Jupiter and Juno. Juno is strongly connected with marriage relationships.
I will post this part and continue afterwards .

Yikes. That's very insightful.
No, I do want to work with him. I just want to stop being a drama queen. (Moon and Jupiter of course).

Your Solar Return shows Mars in the 7th. Mars rules your natal Asc. and this shows that this year, you are (pre)occupied with your marriage. Mars opposes Pluto and you could go through moments of wanting to finish it all and start all over again or just feel the need for a total reorganisation of your future and marriage.
Venus is ruler of your Sun and in the SR chart conjuncts the 11th house cusp of wishes and ideals. I think you have come to a point where you would like to fulfill your own wishes, maybe expressing yourself in some creative endeavor of your own. You would maybe like more freedom within your marriage to do your own things. Your natal Moon is exactly at 25°, conjunct your SR Ascendant and trining your SR Venus in the 8th house.
In the SR chart, Moon co-rules the 7th house and is placed in the 6th of work (working with the partner), but Moon squares Uranus, ruler of the 2nd, again a sign that maybe there are financial problems causing the trouble you are having. Moon square Uranus as an aspect does also show upsetting situations in the home.
You write that you lost a lot of weight. This often happens with Pluto on the Asc. The SR chart does not show illness as Moon trines Sun, so I think it has to do with worries and unhappiness over the situation. When my marriage broke up, I had transiting Pluto on my Asc. and I lost 14 kilo's in 3 month, but I exercised 2 hours a day and was topfit, but emotionally sick.
Your Solar Return for 2008-2009 however shows more difficulties. As I mentioned a while ago, a reversed 7th house (7th house on the Asc. in the Solar Return) often shows a difficult year ahead. Your natal 7th house falls in Taurus and you have the Solar Return Asc. at 22°11 Taurus. It will therefore be a year where the focus will be on your marriage and work/health.
All personal planets fall in the 6th house of work and health. This can show that this area will be extremely important next year. Mercury retrograde rules that 6th house and Sun, Moon, Mercury and Mars are all intercepted in Libra. This can mean that you could feel very confined and probably a bit stuck. But Mercury trines the MC and Venus, ruler of the SR Asc. is not intercepted and in Scorpio in term of Jupiter. It is not a sign where she is very happy though. Venus rules all those planets and in Scorpio could show health problems with bowels, kidneys and the reproductive system and bladder. So should you feel unwell, have yourself checked . All planets are weak in Libra, so take good care of yourself.
Algol is conjunct the SR Ascendant which is also unpleasant and Neptune is squaring the SR Asc. As you have lost so much weight, I would suggest you have yourself checked earlier, just to be on the safe side. It can be stress, it also can be an illness you are not aware of. Better to be safe than sorry.
But like I said, worries and stress can make you lose weight easily as well.
However, it can just as well be a year where work will be very much on your mind as the 6th house has to do with that as well. Ruler of the 10th house is situated in the 5th house and forms a Grand Trine with the MC and the ASC. of the Solar Return. This is very nice indeed. The opposition from Saturn to Uranus makes this into a KITE formation which is always a sign of creativity. There can be intens focusing on one thing in particular.
In your natal chart tr. Saturn has entered your 10th house and will eventually sextile your Asc. and conjunct the tight Uranus/Pluto conjuction there and opposing Saturn in the 4th house. After that he will square your Moon. This can also show a difficult time, but Saturn sextiling your Ascendant will give you the opportunity to put things on track as will the progressed Sun, conjuncting your Venus end of this year.
All in all I think that things will work out for you in the end, but not without a lot of changes and effort put into it. Whatever will happen, with Regulus conjunct your natal MC, I think, you will always end up OK.
Best wishes, Starlink

Just to complete the picture, here's my husband's natal and two Solar Returns. I don't know about you, but I think that there seems to be a mirror of the whole situation going on with him. As you'll immediately see, his Sun is conjunct my Moon, and so hopefully we have enough of a spiritual bond to get through it, although because it is conjunct, he is having nonsense from Pluto too. Natal first - and apologies about having to multipost (not sure how to put loads of images up)

Here you have the chart ruler conjunct Pluto in the seventh, and also in its detriment in Sagittarius. When I saw these two Solar Returns together a year ago, I thought to myself that this year could see the end to my marriage. But that is so unthinkably upsetting. I went to see a pro in June about it all, but he didn't get as far as to look at my husband's charts, which was a pity.
What you say about wanting to break out on my own workwise has some truth in it. My husband and I have spent eleven ears building up a business (we write music). We both love what we do, and we earn enough money from it, but there isn't enough work to take up enough time. He has a part time office job, but I have nothing more than the music, leaving me hours of time alone and bored at home. I'd love to do something else too, but because I've always been self employed, I have no experience. Recently, we've tried to expand by taking over a studio that's lovely really, but I find it difficult to work there. When we were talking about the music last night, he said 'perhaps we've killed it (the music) for each other' which I thought was very Plutonian.
Here's his 2007

And here's 2008, with Algol right on his MC. My pro Astrologer in June said (of my own initial chart) that this should be a year of expansion (Jupiter in H12) but for some reason I can't get to it. He is right.

Alice, I had the moon-pluto conjunction thing going on about twenty years ago, and the best thing I can say is that it passed. I was lucky enough to have my chart done around that time, and the astrologer helped me a lot with the transit, by pointing out that it mostly had to do with feelings of being unloved, isolated, etc., and less to do with reality. Looking back, I was projecting a lot of my inner feelings on events and people in my life. I also found it difficult during that time to avoid indulging in self pity. But on the plus side, I think I got a lot of that "poor me" out of my system. Either that or I learned to move past it. I still had difficulties after the transit, but my attitude about my troubles changed.

Hi Alice, I could not respond straight away, loads of other things on my mind and 5 clients waiting for responses. I only printed the 2007 Solar Return from your husband as it will take almost a year before we get to his birthday this year.
His Solar Ascendant falls at 25° Gemini which shows by itself a very communicative and busy year, everything a bit "in the air" as it were.
This Solar Asc. falls in his natal chart in the last degrees of Gemini in his 7th house, and because it falls within 5°, I will count it as falling in his 8th house. This shows that 8th house things will be the focus for December 2007 till Dec. 2008. things related to deep personal transformation, life & death situations, facing crisis, worries, you name it are all part of this house.
This is interesting because his Natal Mars falls in his natal 8th house and now also , by Solar Return, again in his 8th, but at 3° Cancer.
Because Mars rules his 5th of creative expression, these things will therefore be accentuated and it is there where he has to get a grip and probably make a "spring cleaning" , chucking out what does not function anymore, introducing new ideas that will function.
The Sun (of course, always same place), Mercury, Pluto and Jupiter all are transiting through his natal 1st house and his Solar Return's 7th.
Jupiter rules his 2nd house, so money issues are talked about with the partner. Mercury rulses his 10th, 7th and 8th house natally and now falls in the SR 7th, so issues about career, partnership and other people's finances (loans maybe) are discussed with the partner.(you).
Sun rules his natal 9th house, so he will now express with you his ideas, his philosophies about the things he goes through at the moment.
Pluto rules his 12th house and 12th house issues like sadness, self-undoing etc. are placed in the 7th house for this year. He probably also thinks of reform in the marriage through solving his unsolved personal problems.
The Focus is on relationship and solving problems together with you this year.
The Natal Moon falls now also in the Solar 7th house, and SR Moon falls in his Natal 5th house and recently trined Uranus exactly and with transiting Pluto conjunct (outgoing)his Sun and ingoing his Moon, yes, he will go through the same thing as you, only, he is hit both ways (Sun and Moon!). This is very heavy on him and could change the way he behaves and expresses his feelings towards you. You just have to go along with that, accept it as something he HAS to go through with all the outbursts and what not, whilst you have to see what you can do for yourself, how to fill up those hours otherwise wasted.
I must go now Alice. Think about it and keep talking with your husband. Tell him that you understand what he is going through and ask him to open up so you can both work on a solution.
Cheers, Starlink

I'm noticing a turnaround after months and months of feeling terrible. Exactly half way through the Solar Return I can begin to feel the healing power of Pluto. Which is interesting after all the fear.
Now all I have to worry about is Algol on the ASC next year:(

Hi Alice, glad to hear that something is changing for you. I do hope it has to do with better communication in your partnership. Worrying about Algol does not help you. Maybe trying to understand what that could mean and then preparing yourself accordingly would be better. See if you can see some good stars like Spica, Betelgeuse, Regulus somewhere else in the chart. Look at his Venus conjunct the north node in his 6th of work. Things like that.
Be positive! Cheers, Star.

I've had to take extremely drastic and seemingly cruel action for the healing to begin though Starlink, and it has been a good time to have a little therapy - as suggested by the repetition of the Moon and/or Pluto in H. 8 and H. 6 in this years' Lunar Returns. Reading Liz Greene has also helped transform the idea of Pluto into a recognition of opportunity.
Algol is a strange one tho' because I'm seeing it in all sorts of Solar Return charts. Two people I know have it right on their MC this year, and so I'm watching how it pans out for them. One of them is the father of the baby they nearly lost (and still might). His career hasn't been 'cut off' but if they do lose the child I'd be tempted to start thinking that perhaps Algol manifests itself as a sudden unpleasant event. That it's on his MC - mothering/parenting?
