Indeed the things you mention are very much in keeping with the Saturn return...as you know it is a life changing event where very often we have to get rid of stuff that no longer serves our best interests.
You have a very polarized chart with the main affliction being Uranus oppose the Moon; an implication that one of your primary challenges is to get free of your emotional baggage. It also has to do with your beliefs about monetary resources and security. Saturn with Venus is about problems with females in general and relates to one's personal self-esteem. Venus is also about the expectations we place on others which can oftentimes be unrealistic. Did these women leave you, or did you in fact turn them away by your subconscious judgments? This combination is also attributed to low spirits or depression or feelings of isolation, which is already a factor with the Sun/Mercury in the 12th house.

Venus in Scorpio can be rather secretive and reclusive at times and when she comes across too strong in the chart, the personality can appear rather overpowering or threatening to others, often as the result of jealousy and possessiveness, or hidden anger. Pluto dignified at the Ascendant can also project a very in-depth personality, who often encounters many power struggles in life, whether apparent or repressed.

'I do not really mind on the whole, as I suspect this is some unrevealed energy in me':If you don't mind it shouldn't really matter...still I believe you are beginning to respond to the New Awakening that we are all heading towards, with the upcoming Galactic Alignment at the end of the year. This is a warning call for the collective consciousness to wake up to the stirrings of the heart, rather than merely responding to the pounding of the footprints in the concrete jungle.

You make another interesting statement
I feel like for the first time in my life I am just nudging the iceberg of "getting out of my own way" also "getting over myself"
Herein are the answers you are looking for...You know this on the soul level, but have perhaps not yet owned it on the conscious level. The coming evolution will demand that we all start living more creatively and with deeper meaning, in the pursuit of greater compassion and heartfelt caring. It will be a time when we have to become more conservative in the sharing of the earth's resources; we must become less wasteful and destructive and we must learn to work together in co-operation rather than self-centered competition. And of equal importance, we must learn how to gain more balance in our relationships.

You must know that there is more to your being than just your mind and your body...the onslaught affecting many people is all about remembering our divinity and feeding our spirit as well. This part of us has been lost, and this is what needs to be reborn for the world to survive.

Should I just shut up and not try to figure the whole thing out in advance, and just let it hit me when it hits me?
I do believe that we have the choice in life whether to be a victim or a victor and much of the teaching of the Scorpio energy focuses on that primary issue. Perhaps it is not so much about getting over yourself as it is about standing BESIDE your self. Learn to see how others might see you, and allow yourself to see things from a greater perspective: Life is not about weathering the storm, it is about learning to dance in the rain.

For you the obvious key is solving the mystery of your Saturn/Venus implications during this time: this implies some sort of karmic or destined energy blockage that must be healed through the heart.

Sun Libra, Moon in Gemini and Scorpio Rising. The essence of your Solar Mission in life is about attaining appropriate balance in all your relationships, and this is not so easy to do, especially when we don't even realize we are dealing with an inner imbalance. Unfortunately with Libra, individuals often find themselves playing the middle man which can alter one's sense of fairness and justice. Sometimes it can represent an implanted energy of competition rather than co-operation. Moon in Gemini has an inner need for companionship and an urging to unify and communicate with others, although this can sometimes render a person who is a 'talkaholic' and is generally superficial.

With Scorpio rising, the mask of personality worn in public can either be overwhelming for others, or signaling to others that you can be easily manipulated. Your Saturn return then is about removing the outer mask and realizing the true inner self that lies within.

Some new tools for exploring planetary transits have become available within the last year. One of them is very useful for getting the exact dates of Saturn returns, namely, Your Planetary Transits (http://www.planetary-aspects.com/your-planetary-transits/ypt.htm). Here is an example of how to use it. Set a birth date, say, January 1, 1984. Birth time is not important (we'll use 12:00 GMT). Select 'Personal transit', 'Tropical zodiac', and Saturn as both the transiting planet and the natal planet. Results are given for three user-selected orbs, let's say 5°, 3° and 1°. Since the Saturn return takes about 29 years, specify the start and end dates as 28 years and 31 years after the birth date, in this example, January 1, 2012, and January 1, 2015. Then click on the button labelled 'Show all transits from start to end dates for selected planets'. The resulting transit table (http://www.planetary-aspects.com/your-planetary-transits/how_to_read_transit_tables.htm) is shown in the screenshot below.

This shows that, due to Saturn's retrogression, there are three 5° conjunctions of transiting Saturn with natal Saturn during the period December 2012 to September 2014. Within these are three 3° conjunctions, January-March 2013, October-November 2013, and June-August 2014. There is only one 1° conjunction, which runs from October 27, 2013, to November 12, 2013. and this conjunction becomes exact at 08:58 GMT on November 4, 2013.

This transit table also tells us that during the other two 3° conjunctions transiting Saturn reaches a minimum separation from natal Saturn of between 2° and 3° in February 2013 and in July 2014.

A second tool gives a graphical display of this Saturn return. This is Planetary Aspects and Transits (http://www.planetary-aspects.com/pat/pat.htm), by which we can create the following 'transit graphic':
