Hmm, can't say I have very much experience with ascendants (people don't tend to know their birth times) but I have a pisces ascendant.

I like the thick eyelashes, lips and nose. I also have Saturn about seven degrees away from the ascendant (12th house, wide conjunction) which may explain the dark hair, big forehead, and general melancholy disposition >.>.

Libra rising are supposed to be the most attractive, being ruled by venus. But what about taurus rising? Taurus is said to be ruled by venus, shouldn't they be similar to librans in a sense?

libra and taurus are ruled by venus in different ways. libra gets venus' love of beauty, need for harmony and peace, love in general, and need for relationships. libra also gets venus' materialism and sensuality as with taurus, but not as much. taurus is under venus' influence because of their love for material possessions, love for art and good taste.

so a libra ascendant would be more attractive than a taurus ascendant (no offense :D) because libra suns are also known for their beauty and also because its ruling planet, venus, gives them that certain attractiveness.

I have too heard that libra rising has the best looks, however I have noticed that they may not look that great, but they have poise and are able to be charming...regardless of how they look, so looks wise they can be unattractive to you or me, however they have that appeal in the way they carry themselves...They do have this natural femininity, yes men too...they are on the feminine side...soft spoken, graceful, charming....

Well, this goes completely by your own chart. If you are drawn to Leos or fiery signs, then it is obvious that you like that type. I don't have much Air in my chart and I do not think that Libra ASC is anything interesting at all...

I would be interested in what you find. I seldom agree with the opinions of people who make lists of attractive people, which just shows that what is attractive to me is not the same as what is attractive to other people.

I doubt that all of us could come close to agreeing about who is attractive! :)

I would be willing to make that list if we could know for sure who, among all those Hollywood stars, still has their original looks. I mean, the real physical appearance Nature gave them before they went under the knife.

If we wanted to make something of this, we would have a really hard time finding out which part of someone's body is truly reflecting the positive or negative traits that the planetary influences granted them when they were born.

There may be something even more basic going on here. Two things actually.

First, the AC would indicate which people are most likely to enjoy being in the public eye, perhaps even those who would have a deep need for it.

Second, when viewing charts of famous people, we can never be sure that the birth times have not been "adjusted" according to someone's whim.

I have noticed many stars with Leo AC, and certainly those who are stars are likely to be attractive in some way, even if it is not what some of us would call "beauty".

Beyond that, I have to wonder if some of the charts have not be rectified to place Leo on the AC because astrologers simply felt that another AC would be inappropriate.

In short, my suggestion of picking famous people may have been a very bad one. :)

an old boyfriend of mine had scorpio rising, sun/mars/venus in scorpio..god, he was gorgeous..really dark, hair,eyes, skin..sort of an olive color..he was actually English..bit French..tall. atheletic, a marathon runner...his darkness was very scorpio....but that mars/scorpio...bad temper...a very intense person..bit too much for an easy-going leo/aquarius/libra...I always think of him as the perfect 'scorpio speciman'...

I'm fully in agreement with you, by the way. The only reason I suggested talking about famous people, which I now think was a mistake, is that at least there is some agreement (world-wide) about who the "pretty people" are.

For men, Brad Pitt's name came up for years and probably still does.

Julia Roberts is someone whose name I have heard again and again for years. I've seen many women who aren't the least bit famous who I personally think are much more attractive.

Unfortunately, I have no idea their birthdays are, much less their rising signs! :)

I'd make a point with this, if we can trust the data:

Al Pacino and Jack Nicholson were probably both considered very attractive by at least some women when they were younger. If I just look at pictures of either one, I can't see it. But I can understand the magnetism. Both radiate power of some kind, which you can certainly read in their charts. And both (apparently) have Leo rising.

Meryl Streep also has Leo rising. She is another person I don't think is really beautiful. If you just look at her features, she does not have any kind of "classic beauty". Yet she is another lady who has immense magnetism and charm, and she can also transform herself in roles. She again, if the data can be trusted, has Leo rising.

So I think we are picking up the whole person. You can't separate what is inside a person from what is on the outside.

Planetary aspects to the asc. in my experience make a BIG difference in the apearance.
I cant think of one specific asc. as far as looks go.
THen you have venus and how they express their sensuality and wher that is in a chart.
Say we have a libra asc. but that person has that planet, venus, in a hard aspect, or it is aspected by a negative influence, then we may see indications of loss of those looks......it is so hard to speak in generalities when it comes to apearances, and how they may come about, and how they are effected by the zodiac.
Yet its still fun....
I like scorpio asc.......or at least I have noticed that they do have a magnetic apearance, as well as aquarious asc........as far as aquarious people go......THe only woman I have dated, have always been aquarious suns, or woman with aquaroius asc........Of course the relationships never lasted....laugh....I have uranus in the 5thH, it also trines my sun.....I have strange relationships with aquarioan woman....not bad....just strange...havent put my finger on it yet.
Who you are atracted to is going to depend upon your aspects as well.
If beauty is sbjective then there is some argument to some degree so is the whole chart, but isn't it interesting how subjective can effect objective, to an iniduvidual, to such a degree?

Well its hard to decide really about which ascendant is "most" attractive as has been stated and restated through out this thread. I have heard about air signs as ascendants being the more attractive ones. A Gemini rising person I know has remarkable pointedness of the ears, nose and a gleam of the eye they look almost Elvish. (a Mercurial influence...the speeding messenger) a facial look as if they were moving beyond MACH speed at birth with higher G-force pushing their faces back to a point of sorts. But Libra rising doesn't have this as much. Aquarius Rising natives don't generally have it either they have the higher forehead and often somewhat a sharpened chin. My sister is Aquarius rising and has a remarkable sharpened nose. I am Aquarius Rising ..I do not.... so genetics have their play because she looks more like my father's ( mostly european descendant) side of the family. I and yet another Aquarius rising sibling look more like my mother's side who has a considerable Native American influence. This sister and I have almost identical noses... somewhat flatter and broader with flaring nostrils LOL. All three of us have one thing in common... that higher forehead. The Moon's and hence the energy field (sign) that it was placed in at birth time must have some pull on the womb and its water at the time of birth which would influence the appearance especially around the fluid filled organs...our eyes. There is a site that takes the native's Sun, Moon and Ascendant sign all three into consideration for appearance. All that said it still is a personal taste thing for certain. you will see plain looking folks of all rising signs. Most celebrities have had augmentations to their appearances via the influence of Aries...ruler of sharp tools...Look at the new "model" of Kenny Rogers (Gemini Rising) he doesn't even look like a real person anymore LOL. There's a stereotype surrounding the Venus signs,Taurus and Libra.Both my parents have Taurus Ascendants and they're not that much atractive...even when they were young they were quite *normal*(didn't stand out in a crowd),my mom was defintly cute but nothing out of the ordinary...
And I have a Libra rising classmate who lokes like a geek(Venus in Aries may be the one to blame for this).
Plus there are certain things like aspects to the Ascendant.Maybe a Venus/Ascendant trine or even a conjunction would make a Virgo rising girl look drop dead gorgeous,or a Cancer rising guy with Mars in Scorpio trining the Ascendant look very sexy.

Well, this goes completely by your own chart. If you are drawn to Leos or fiery signs, then it is obvious that you like that type. I don't have much Air in my chart and I do not think that Libra ASC is anything interesting at all...

For guys, I like Scorpio and Leo risings, Taurus is also nice. Females...hmm, maybe Sagittarius, Leo or Taurus.

isn't the "Descendant sign" the sign that attracts you? Like if someone has their ascendant as Scorpio, that person's descendant is taurus, meaning that someone is attracted to Taurean traits or taurean physical appearance.

I have to agree with what someone says about aspects to the ascendant. You can have Leo rising, but if Pluto conjuncts it, I can see you being more intense. (My uncle has that, and I'm pretty scared of the guy. By the way, aren't Scorpios supposed to be hairy? Must be why he electrocutes me with his beard.)
Also, some people don't look anything like their ascendant. I've heard numerous stories about men who have Libra rising, but they aren't the least bit attractive. It could be because of the aspects Venus makes in their charts, or because their ascendant is modified in some way. I know a girl with a Gemini ascendant, but Saturn is in close opposition. Saturn is supposed to shorten, right? Well, she's the shortest person in her family.

I agree that having a "Libran influence" can indeed make you attract, perhaps a nicely aspect Venus coupled with perhaps that rising can be good looking as well- but I think that having Virgo rising can give you great cheek bone structures; ie I personally believe I have a great bone structure and a friend, who is also Virgo rising, has a great bone structure in her face as well- almost high cheek bones, well higher than mine and very well defined.

The 27 Nakshatras
may make a difference, but I don't know how to convert them properly to tropical, someone ahs probably done that.
I cast a chart in Vedic(sidereal) and read the Nakshatras on the Asc...sometimes it can show a particular trait not shown normally....it gives some insight maybe into appearance.
I'm just playing with them now.

I generally enjoy the person whose Sun is in my 7th; but they can generally take or leave me...
I have always understood the seventh house (and the ones to follow thereafter) as opposed to the first (where you step alone on the stage), to be one where you are meant/compelled to share and commit, as you 'develop' into a social being. Here you put yourself at the disposal of others, if you so will, while fulfilling your own need to relate to others and seeking relationships. With the seventh being naturally ruled by Libra, we generally look for our equals (balance), but Libra also marks dependency on the partner/others (of some sort). It is like being like an 'open' book for the other(s), which sort of also means that your vulnerability is exposed. Also, in the wheel of astrology, every house has its seventh, so if you look at the second (your own resources), the eight becomes one where you are again partnering - your resources - with the others; and so on. Planetary aspects to the asc. in my experience make a BIG difference in the apearance.
I cant think of one specific asc. as far as looks go.
THen you have venus and how they express their sensuality and wher that is in a chart.
Say we have a libra asc. but that person has that planet, venus, in a hard aspect, or it is aspected by a negative influence, then we may see indications of loss of those looks......it is so hard to speak in generalities when it comes to apearances, and how they may come about, and how they are effected by the zodiac.
Yet its still fun....

I don't think Venus in hard aspect to ASC necessarily frustrates the looks. Brooke shields and Brigitte Bardot have Venus square their Ascendants and look how they turned out.

It really depends on the person, i think, when it comes to the overall attractiveness. I guess in a female you could say that Taurus and Libra are because they are naturally ruled by Venus.

gemini ascendants, i know one, very thin, eats like a fat guy but doesn't gain any weight, i don't see anything prominant with looks here.
cancer ascendants seem to have that baby face in a way. which is attractive.
leo ascendants, i know more of this than any other, i have read there are two types- the ones that are loud to get attention and the quiet ones who get attention in subtle ways, but they both need alot of attention. not sure about looks for these, only know men of it, but they all tend to have a gut, a little beer belly if you will.
virgo ascendants i have seen tend to have a little gut too, not sure about the looks, nothing prominent there to me. nothing special from what i have seen.
libra ascendants have the balenced features and are often broad, i have only seen the men with it, goodlooking but it depends on the sun really, especially for libra risings in my opinion.
scorpio risings are goodlooking, i know one cancer with it and two caps, they're ok, goodlooking but not the best looking of all twelve.
sagittarius risings are nice looking, i find the wild part of them along with the way they look very attractive, but i wouldn't like to be around the wild part all the time. i don't know many but i find the women i do know with it very attractive.
capricorn risings i am not very titillated to fervour or anything, they are ok. they are slim. it has varied.
aquarius risings i must say are beatiful, extremely attractive, titillating to my aquarius moon (:wink:)
pisces rising i know one, a cap sun, this is the funniest person i have ever met, as far as looks are concerned i'm not sure, he has told me himself that he knows he is goodlooking and that many girls have told him, i have noticed he can be manipulative when he is hurt, i can see it when he is hurt but he wouldn't say if he was, he would get moody about it too, but it goes away fleetly.

As I have the same I have to agree and Neptune is conjunct Venus too and in Libra. Seriously it gave me the dark hair and blue eyes which often comes with this combination. Regular features and a shapely figure when young. It also contributed to my weight gain in middle age.
The decan the rising sign is in is also influential.

Aquarius or gemini rising are generally fairly plain or even ugly.

The best looking are taurus and pisces rising
You cannot make generalisations and have to look at what the chart ruler is doing. Gemini rising are often tall and Aquarius is known as a handsome sign.
So you are basing all this on a few people you know, presumably.
A lot has to do with our genetic inheritance too.
I know Pisces rising who are not particularly beautiful and Taurus also.

well i know a few capricorn rising and i find them intensly attractive and so do other woman who know thezse guys but i have alot of capricorn in my chart so maybe i am bias.
but they ARE sexy as hell.
Once again it is our projections that make others attractive to us and where our Mars and Venus hit. Chemistry is something we cant predict or control or even explain and it is just as well or the plain person would never have a love life etc.:happy:

Michael Jackson did not have LIbra rising. His looks had changed dramatically from what he was born with so that doesnt count really.
I agree that Venus in the 1st house is stronger than mere Libra rising.
Cancer rising with a good Moon placement can be rounded and appealing.

Yes especially if the Moon is well aspected. Cancer rising can tend to a roundness and softness and is attractive in females as they can have a generous bosom also.

Remember to look at his early photos showing his true appearance and I would say more likely Pisces. Some say Leo. The Moon may be also in the 1st house. He did marry a whacky Aquarian in Lisa Marie and that can add to the Leo rising theory. This would put his Pisces moon possibly in the 7th of the general public as well.

basing this on the people i know...

gemini ascendants, i know one, very thin, eats like a fat guy but doesn't gain any weight, i don't see anything prominant with looks here.
cancer ascendants seem to have that baby face in a way. which is attractive.
leo ascendants, i know more of this than any other, i have read there are two types- the ones that are loud to get attention and the quiet ones who get attention in subtle ways, but they both need alot of attention. not sure about looks for these, only know men of it, but they all tend to have a gut, a little beer belly if you will.
virgo ascendants i have seen tend to have a little gut too, not sure about the looks, nothing prominent there to me. nothing special from what i have seen.
libra ascendants have the balenced features and are often broad, i have only seen the men with it, goodlooking but it depends on the sun really, especially for libra risings in my opinion.
scorpio risings are goodlooking, i know one cancer with it and two caps, they're ok, goodlooking but not the best looking of all twelve.
sagittarius risings are nice looking, i find the wild part of them along with the way they look very attractive, but i wouldn't like to be around the wild part all the time. i don't know many but i find the women i do know with it very attractive.
capricorn risings i am not very titillated to fervour or anything, they are ok. they are slim. it has varied.
aquarius risings i must say are beatiful, extremely attractive, titillating to my aquarius moon (:wink:)
pisces rising i know one, a cap sun, this is the funniest person i have ever met, as far as looks are concerned i'm not sure, he has told me himself that he knows he is goodlooking and that many girls have told him, i have noticed he can be manipulative when he is hurt, i can see it when he is hurt but he wouldn't say if he was, he would get moody about it too, but it goes away fleetly.

as for the signs i have left out it is because i don't know anyone with them, or at least not well enough to make a substancial noting of them.
The gut comes with most signs unfortunately especially in later years.

I'm Gemini rising forming a grand trine with Venus in Aquarius and Mars in Libra; Mercury (AC ruler) in Capricorn. I guess Gemini rising isn't considered to be the most attractive rising sign, but it IS in the Libra decan and with the grand trine to Venus and Mars in air signs, I guess that helps. Venus is also conjunt the MC and Mars is in Libra in the 5th. I'm not too shabby-looking, I think. I have attached a picture of me as Cleopatra for Halloween, and my natal chart. Here's more me:

Hey! I'm from Argentina so I'm pretty sorry if my English is awful.

I'm a Libra rising.

To be honest, I don't feel the Libra vibe on my personality. Of course, people around me thinks I've got "Angel" because of my charisma.

Anyway, the dispositor (Venus) is in the 2nd house in Sagittarius which is not a seductive position. Also, I don't have any planet in Libra. The planets on my 1st house are Mars and Pluto in Scorpio... they just don't have the cute Libra touch :tongue:

So far, related with my Libra rising:
- Sun in Sagittarius in the 3rd house sextile Ascendant.
- Moon in Aries in the 6th cusp 7th house opposition Ascendant.
- Mercury in Sagittarius in the 2nd house semisquare Ascendant.
- Venus in Sagittarius in the 2nd house sextile Ascendant.
- Mars in Scorpio in the 1sr house conjunct Ascendant.
- Saturn in Sagittarius in the 2nd house novile Ascendant.
- Uranus in Sagittarius in the 2nd house sextile Ascendant.

By dispositor there a few cool aspects...
- Venus conjunct Sun.
- Venus trine Moon (exact).
- Venus conjunct Uranus.
- Venus semisquare Pluto (exact).
- Venus sextile Ascendant.

i have been studying sun and asc s for many years and it all depends what you yourself are attracted to.
for eg, i like tall, dark hair and eyes men, but found could be any sign.
Then once you get to know them, if they have a compatible personality with yourself, the attraction goes deeper.

In my eyes it is not just looks but personality.

I dont think the rising sign alone determines beauty. You should look at venus ofcourse. I heard venus conjunct ascendant gives beauty, or venus conjunct important planets like sun, moon, ruler of ascendent or MC... Maybe other aspecs with venus also maybe? And something with Libra and Taurus ofcourse, the rulers!

I have Venus conjunct my moon. Cant say that Im drop dead gorgeous:P But on the other side Ive never had problems attracting guys (passed the age of 19 or so):sideways:

I am small :) 5.2 do not have big nose AT ALL . Skinny.
Even though I am scorpio raising my scorpio looks "water down" by neptune.
It is interesting how Neptune can alter someone apperance. I do not even know myself if am I beatiful or am I average:cool:
