Sun Conj Moon V Sun square Sun/moon midpoint synastry

I know that Sun conjunct moon is a "classic" compatibility factor in Synastry.
But I,m now reading that also a hard aspect between the sun or moon of one person and the sun/moon midpoint of the other is equally important.

Which one would have more weight or are they really equal?

The reason I ask might seem rather crass. But I have begun a lovely relationship with a man who used to date my sister when they were teens. It was only for a few months and it WAS 20 years ago. But it worries me all the same, that I might be second best or a sub. He did end it, but he said to me before we began our romance that he regreted it later.

I checked into their astrology and found my sisters moon is in EXACT conjunction to his sun. She also has her ascendant in his 7th house. They have no Mars/Venus contacts however and not as many interaspects as we do.

Between Us (He and I) my moon is exact square his sun/moon midpoint and his sun is exact square MY sun/moon midpoint. Our ascendants are conjunct and we have the Venus sextile Mars which is EXACT. Lots of two way interaspects too.

I,m I just being paraniod? I do have some "issues" to deal with here, as my sister was always overtly my mothers favourite.

I am going to take the liberty to putting my 2 cents in order to answer your question. I have heavily relied on astrology over the past 5 years to orient me in life and in my contacts with others. However (I don't know if this is due to my natal planetary placements) I have learned a hard lesson around deep relationship fears. It seems that the fears usually overide planetary possibilities as you hold on to them (specially when comparing oneself to someone else)...and then we wonder, why didn't so and so aspect play out as indicated in the chart. I have found for myself that fear is the only thing to fear about, because chances are that you will manifest the fear itself. So, I would focus your energies in enjoying the relationship rather than wasting your time dwelling on something you fear (the strong connection between your sister's aspects and his)....you know the whole truth behind; thought creates...the law of attraction. Have you watched the movie/documentary "The Secret"? That might be worth while checking out since it addresses what I am clumsily trying to say here.

Funnily enough I did the tarot this morning as I saw the guy last night. We had a lovely evening, but this morning I woke paraniod about some little comment he made.
The Tarot card was 7 swords which meant my fears had nothing to do with reality. It so answered my question, as you have too.
Previously had been in a relationship which was VERY easy and full of trines (which stagnated) so compared to that, this one really keeps me on my toes. Its quite something to adjust to. But I know it is stretching me spiritually, growth wise. I guess that,s the main thing.

Wow, those placements are powerful, the Sun/Moon interaction with midpoints and all!

Typically it's considered conjunctions are the most powerful aspect, yet they do cause a sort of blending and fusing which often isn't as notable as the tensional nature of the square. In terms of obvious effects and real-life scenarios, often the squares are more notable. It's usually impossible to miss the powerful energy-buildup and "voltage amplification" of a square. But the power of conjunctions really depends on the objects involved, and obviously the Sun/Moon have a very strong interaction, highly magnetic to eachother.

I wouldn't be worried about the squares, especially given the nature of the placements. It seems such a rare happening, and so powerful, that it would be the sort of thing I'd consider karmic: there's an important reason you two are in contact.

As squares are all about action, resolving differences, and growth promotion, and you are aware there are issue(s) to handle, and already see the growth, consider it a major growth opportunity and an experience which will certainly be of major significance. Those are true gifts!

I'm curious, is there significant interaction between the charts involving the nodes? Tight aspects involving a node and another's powerful point? Nodes falling on powerful midpoints? I wouldn't be surprised if the nodes helped to reveal why you have such powerful connections.

Given the powerful square aspects involved, you might also try doing synastry, including midpoint analysis, in the 4th harmonic. Often I look at the dominant aspect numerology as a harmonic, and investigate that harmonic for further connections, mainly focusing on midpoints. Sometimes this technique can pull out some interesting stuff :D

Thank you so much for your insight. Very helpfull in this very stressfull life changing time.
I won,t go into the details of this story. But it definately feels fated. It came out of the blue and has changed the destinies for everyone involved even tho at the moment it is tears and joy and catyclismic transformation.
We are both idealistic Artist/Musicians. I do see us working together somehow.

I looked at the midpoints which I have never looked at before, interesting:

His South node conjunct my Neptune/Pluto Midpoint 4 deg orb
Neptune/Uranus Midpoint 4 deg orb
His North node conjunct my Sun/Asc Midpoint 8 deg orb
Moon /Asc Midpoint 4 deg orb

Also My moon square his Mars/Venus midpoint 3 deg orb
His moon square my Mars/Venus midpoint exact
My venus square his Mars/Venus midpoint exact

We complete 2 kites,a mystic square,a grand cross,2 yods between our charts. There is such alot to analyse I am quite overwhelmed.

Yet I will ask you. What would synastry using the 4th Harmonic entail? Dont know this area.

Does the fact its his Nodes aspecting my midpoints mean that it is his destiny is help me fuse the two planets in the midpoint together?
