I saw some different communications horaries here and some answers used 3rd h of Querent to 7th H person for a question like: "did she read my email? I saw others use aspects from Quesited to Querent. And even Quesited's 3rd h ruler to Querent's 3rd h ruler.

This is what I think works:

Did she read my email?
Find if Querent's 3rd h aspects Querent.

Will he reply to my email?
Find if Quesited's 3rd h aspects Querent's 3rd h.
or is it
Find if Quesited aspects Querent's 3rd h?

Pls advise.

For example, I have a chart asking: Did she read my email.

Email is Sat Rx - and Quesited is Merc Rx. They are in opposition - so it's a no?

Is this correct? Thanks!

Posting because I heard from the querent. And now I see the situation in the chart.

He messaged her about something unrelated and they've been emailing back and forth since Friday (I believe). I see their signifactors (main) are conjuncting and this is happening in HIS 10th (work.) Interesting.

So - for communications, we can also take Main Sigs only? And the area of communication can stem from the Quesited's turned? This is kind of odd but seems to be the case here.

Here's how I would have looked at this question (remember that I'm coming from an alternative understanding of horary practice, and I am using whole sign)
-querent's email = 3rd house = Aquarius = Saturn
-the person to whom the email was sent is of course the 7th house (Gemini/Mercury)
-but the specific question was "did she READ my email?" (not did she receive it, did it get to her, etc) but did she READ it...
-therefore the READING of the email by the other person is THE question
-for the Ankara tradition this would mean that the quesited house is the 9th from the 7th, as the 9th signifies all forms of "understanding" and "knowledge of" things, and the 9th from the 7th is choses because it represents the "reading" by the other person (the person to whom the email was sent)
-in whole sign the 9th from the 7th is-Aquarius!
-so the querent's email and the reading of that email by the other (indtended) person both fall in the same signifying sign (Aquarius) and have the same significator, Saturn: this joint signifcator is posited in a succedent house (the chart's 11th) which is +, and in its exaltation sign (which is also +); the rx status of this joint significator indicates a back and forth potential reaction, which of course did happen (triggered by the email under question, which the other person READ, a series of exchanges of emails back and forth-like the rx Saturn-occured)
-since Saturn represented both the email and the other person's reading (knowledge) of it, AND since Saturn was posited in a "good place" (succedent sign) and in essential dignity (exalted in Libra), and also in the querent's 11th house of friends and the good spirit, and in the other person's 5th house (pleasures, etc) then the answer to the question (by Primary Ankara) would have been "yes"!

I'd like to make a table to reference. My own "sticky" note. I wanted to organize how to approach communication horaries into steps. ie: Will he reply to my email-questions - Look for Your msg. aspect his signifactor, etc,...

I'll work on this when I get more feedback and if I have time to peruse the communication section a bit more. I think it would help a lot of people since I just now saw this same question posted elsewhere.

One thing regarding communications horary: an expert friend of ours has recently posted that the 3rd house is NEVER to be taken as a communications signifying house. Of course in these matters it depends upon which historical authorities one decides to accept, and which to reject. But for me, regarding this 3rd house matter:
-I originally learned (back in the 1970's) that the "Ankara tradition" regarded the 3rd house as signifying communications
-and later, studying the 11th century Al-Biruni "Book of Instruction in the Elements of the Art of Astrology", on page 61, under the heading "indications relating to horary questions", under the 3rd house we find "...news and commentaries..." given as among the matters connected with that house.
-for me, "news and commentaries" have an intrinsic connection with what I understand as "communications"
...so, I have long been convinced that the 3rd house (or the 3rd from the relevant significator house) is essentially connected with "communications", and I have proceeded upon this basis in delineations, with a good deal of success (correct prognostications)...

That's my pet peeve as a student. So many theories and so little outcomes posted with horary study. I think I'm going to learn horary backwards now, from the outcome, then the method. ie: I'm going to look at the charts in the Communications section to see if anyone posted an outcome and see how it was found. My other frustration is trying to learn horary with so few outcomes posted by the OPs.... :(

THAT is a great way to do it! Find what has worked (relative to prediction of correct outcomes), see what was done-how the prediction was made-and then provisionally take that information as a working model and see whether it continues to work for you, or not; this is a very good way to learn!

I learn much better by having a list (virgo mars issue i guess lol)
Ive been a serial communications follower for some time now and I have had lots of sucess useing the persons 3rd house that iam asking about.

messages and calls are the same ruler arnt they?

I would love to read more on communication horay,s here with known outcomes

I sent you a while ago a known outcome from me asking if id hear from a man
quierant is on the his 3rd house (so 9th)
the ruler of their 3rd house being smack on the asc (quierant)
both 1/7 rulers are inconjunct
which shows the outcome of me not taking the call which i did get the following night.


Here is another one it happened some time ago.

I was seeing someone and one weekend he didnt contact me but i had a gut feeling he had tried to. Early hrs of sunday morn i got a call and they listened to me and then hanged up. I realized i could get calls but not text messages and he only sends text.
the following day I asked if he had tryed to text me and yes he had.

Its a event chart thou, so its read a little differently im sure youve come across this in the communications area here.

The issue of the call is Jupiter & I am mercury and we are at a square. (We weren’t fighting but he would have been very uneasy that I didn’t respond to him)
I think in a event chart the 3rd is used to describe the caller like this:- Venus the ruler is in Aries so it’s an Arian natured person and so the ruler of Aries being mars is in the 5th house shows the house the moons next aspect was to him so it should mean i was going to find out who the caller was.
There are no past aspects from the moon to see who the caller was in that way. 3rd to 3rd don’t work in this instance, 1/7 did thou.

Didi, I did learn a lot from your posts. I've been looking at communication charts more clearly and to be honest, I havnen't seen one solid way - it's a mixture sometimes. So that is good to keep in mind since I made the assumption there was one correct way to decipher everything.

My nature is to analyze, question and probe an issue from different angles. I do really want to know the "final answer" a la Regis Philpin, but this is getting off-topic, lol!

I'm glad you also pointed the Event Chart. I've used them in conjunction with the horary when some cases weren't clear. Very helpful!

Im glad, I think the one i posted was a clear cut way to see a communication. but like you said some are not that clear and im like you lol
I like to see it mathamaticly so once you know the formula is all good, but oh not so easy hey?
