I was surfing the web and I found this interesting story and chart on Frida Kahlo. I had never heard of her before until I read this biography. I thought it would be a really interesting chart to study. I stole the chart and Biography from Astro-databank. I found a link which shows her art and pictures of her with some more information too. All the info on her is below.:)

Biography

Mexican artist about whom everything was high drama. In pain all of her life, the 5' 3", 98 lb. woman battled drugs and despair, had a tumultuous marriage to her muralist husband and conducted affairs with women and men, including a passionate liaison with Leon Trotsky. Filled with a radiant and explosive fury, her paintings showed a symbolic realism and spoke to contemporary and feminist issues: the pain of love and feminine identity. She was called by Andre Breton, "a ribbon around a bomb." Her work was widely exhibited in Mexico, New York and Paris.

Kahlo was the seventh of eight daughters born to a successful German photographer who had emigrated to Mexico and a Mexican-Indian mother. It was her dad who introduced her to art, photography and archeology. The girl both loved and scorned her uneducated and very religious mother. There were two older half-sisters from her father's first marriage, four more older sisters, then Freda and a younger sister. As a kid, she was a tomboy and a prankster.

At the age of six, she suffered an attack of polio. Left with one leg shorter and thinner, she did a lot of sports to rebuild her strength. At 14, she entered one of Mexico's best schools. In her early teens, she was preparing for a career in medicine, until she suffered a serious auto accident at 16 in Mexico City, 9/17/1925. An electric trolley car crashed into the wooden bus in which she was riding. Freda was pierced by the trolley's metal handrail which entered her lower body on the left side and exited through her vagina. Her spinal column and pelvis were each broken in three places; her collarbone and two ribs broken as well. Her right leg, the one deformed by polio, was shattered, fractured in 11 places and her right foot was dislocated and crushed.

She spent a month in the hospital and two more recuperating at home. A lifelong series of operations followed, and her first prolonged hospitalization led to her learning to paint. After the accident, her life was spent in pain and dying, with at least 32 surgeries. In spite of this, or perhaps because of it, her intensity and appetite for life was voracious. When Freda was 13, she had her first sexual experience with her gym teacher. Two years later she met Diego de Rivera when he painted a mural at her school, and she developed an immediate crush on him. They re-met in 1927, and began their affair. Though her mother objected to his age, 20 years older than she, and his immense weight, some 300 lbs, calling him a "fat and ungodly communist," they married in a civil ceremony on 8/21/1929. It was a lifetime marriage despite periods of melancholy illness, separations, divorce and remarriage. He was always a philanderer and their life together was stormy. They were proud of each other, hated each other and were tender and protective of each other. He never objected to her lesbian relationships but was fiercely jealous of the men in her life, so she concealed those many affairs from him.

Her work was highly successful and continued so after her death. By 1994 there were some 87 publication about her, and her 1942 "Self-Portrait with Monkey and Parrot" sold at Sotheby's for $3.2 million, the highest price ever paid for a Latin-American work of art and the second-highest amount for a woman artist (after Mary Cassatt). In Mexico, Kahlo is known as "la heroina del dolor," (the heroine of pain).
After Frida and Diego finally divorced in 1940, Frida's poor health worsened. Her infirmity was exacerbated by her bottle-a-day brandy habit, chain smoking and steady diet of sweets. She not only had racking pain in her spine but infected kidneys, an atrophic ulcer on her right foot, from where gangrenous toes had been amputated in 1934, and recurrent fungus infections on her right hand. Reconciling with de Rivera, they remarried on his 54th birthday, 12/08/1940, in San Francisco. A woman whose motto was, "Make love, take a bath, make love again," she wrote, "Diego in my urine – Diego in my mouth – in my heart, in my madness, in my sleep."
Following the amputation of her leg in 1953, Frida became deeply depressed, losing her will to live. Several times, she tried to kill herself, by hanging or overdose. All signs point to her death as a suicide by overdose on 7/13/1954 in Mexico City. The last words in her diary are a list of people she thanked, and the lines "I hope the leaving is joyful – and I hope never to return."

Hi Jag,

Glad you like the thread. You can see loads in her chart which match up to her story. Later when I have time I will add my comments on her chart. I like to use these type of charts to help me learn. I didn't know salma had the same degree of Saturn as Frida. I wonder how many other actors and actresses have similar connections in their charts for the role they play on screen.

I am going to look up a bit of medical astrology because I can see her accident in the chart. I can see the possible connections to her losing her leg. I am having trouble seeing where the damage is to her reproductive area. It must be Mars/Uranus 5th.

Also I looked to see if her very overweight partner could be seen in her natal chart. I am thinking the conjunction of the Sun/Jupiter in Cancer. The Sun represents the male in a womans life and Jupiter larger than life in the sign of cancer which can represent food. A male who overeats.

You can see all her creativity too. Really good chart for learning.

Indeed, great chart for learning.

I notice the Sun on Spica, very telling of her success. Also the Moon conjunct the Pleiades - the weeping sisters, telling of her sufferance.
Sun conjunct Neptune - alcohol, nicotine addiction.
Venus conjunct Pluto in Gemini - intense sexuality, lots of one night stands.
Mars conjunct Uranus - prone to accidents
Jupiter, lord of the 5th house, exalted - huge creativity

and many more.

Thanks for the chart and the story!!

Mexican artist about whom everything was high drama.

I think for her artistic talent it is shown by her Leo Ascendant and the ruler of the Asc the Sun is Conjunct Neptune. Mars Conjunct Uranus in the 5th house of creative expression for the explosive fury and shocking paintings. The South Node in the 5th. Saturn in Pisces in the 8th and Moon in Taurus in the 10th house representing her career in the artistic field. Ruler of the 10th Venus is conjunct Pluto Intense-dramatic art. Mercury in Leo in the 12th house. She first learned to paint when she was in hospital and I think this is shown by her Mercury/learning in Leo creative/art in the 12th house of seclusion and hospitals.

In pain all of her life, the 5' 3", 98 lb. woman battled drugs and despair, had a tumultuous marriage to her muralist husband and conducted affairs with women and men, including a passionate liaison with Leon Trotsky.

Her drug addiction as Radu said is indicated by the ruler of her Asc the sun Conjunct Neptune. The Cancer stellium Sun/Jupiter/Neptune and her addiction to food/sweet things this shows her overindulgence. The actual addiction to sweet things may be shown by the Conjunction of Venus/Pluto. Moon in Taurus too like comfort food.

Fridos partner shown in her chart - Aquarius on the descendant a unique partner and Uranus is conjunct Mars in the 5th house which represents the sexual affairs he had.Uranus in Capricorn 5th - older lover. The Sun Conjunct Jupiter/Neptune possibly represents the deceptions of her husband, and he was also an artist. The Sun in Cancer also shows the devotion she had for Diego.

Saturn in the 8th may represent an older intimate partnership. As I said before the Sun/Jupiter in Cancer her partner is very large and an over eater. Venus Conjunct Pluto shows the intense compulsive love she seemed to have for Diego. The Venus/Pluto square Saturn the heavy dissappointent and pain in her love life.

The father also being artistic and into photography is represented by the Sun Conjunct Neptune. Saturn in Pisces and the fathers archeology is shown by Saturn in the 8th - digging below the surface.

With her mother being religious I could only connect this to Neptune and Jupiter in Cancer/Mother. The scorn for her mother may be shown by Scorpio on the I.C.

She suffered a serious auto accident at 16 in Mexico City, 9/17/1925.

The accident as was said before is Sun - oppose Mars/Uranus in Capricorn. Capricorn rules the bones in medical Astrology so the Uranus/Mars conjunction is the fractures and breaks she suffered (Uranus) to the bones (Capricorn). In her 5th house injuries to her reproductive area.

The amputation of her leg - The ruler of the 6th house is Saturn in Pisces in the 8th. Pisces/Loss Saturn/Legs which squares Pluto dead leg. The Mars/Uranus Conjunction in Capricorn shows the surgery and the cutting off the leg, Neptune opposing the conjunction (loss again).

She had gangrene to her feet which is also possibly shown by Saturn in Pisces in 8th square to Pluto - because Pisces rules the feet.

For her to have such heavy health affictions it must be the ruler of the 6th house Saturn in Pisces square to Venus/Pluto in Gemini. The 1st house ruler of the physical body is Sun Conjunct Neptune which weakens the body. The Conjunction of planets in Cancer opposing the Uranus/Mars in Capricorn. All heavy afflictions.

She has had problems with the feet (Pisces) the hands (Gemini) Bones and legs (Saturn/Capricorn). The miscarriages Mars/Uranus 5th house of conception oppose her Cancer stellium involving Sun/Neptune Cancer physical loss in ability to have children. Through the accident the opposing - Mars/Uranus 5th.

Wow Jag I never looked at her transits for the day of her accident. So Pluto triggered the fateful accident.

I have been thinking about the accident involving the local transport. Local travel is ruled by Gemini/Mercury/3rd house. The accident which is Mars/Uranus in Capricorn is disposited by Saturn in Pisces in the 8th house and squares Pluto in Gemini (local transport). Pluto also Conjunct Venus (ruler of 3rd) the transport accident happened when she was travelling with her lover. Maybe this connection describes the accident and the the serious health implications (ruler of 6th Saturn in Pisces 8th, critical serious health trouble leading to hospitalisation -Saturn in Pisces).

I am not saying this is correct, I am trying to put the symbolism together.

Hi Jag,

I thought I would post Fridas chart for the day of the accident, to see the Pluto transit you pointed out which conjuncts her Sun/Neptune and opposes the accident aspect in her chart of Mars/Uranus, and also her Jupiter which Conjuncts the aspect and as you said amplifying the chance of an accident upon that fateful day.

Uranus is also squaring her Pluto/Venus in Gemini, which does show the accident involving transport/Gemini and with a lover Venus. Pluto/Dangerous Uranus accident.

She also has minor aspects of transiting Sun and Mars square her Pluto/Venus in Gemini.

There are a lot of indications in her chart which show such an horrific accident happening.

Also with her Moon in Taurus in the 10th house, and at a critical degree. She did achieve becoming a well known female artist who has been critically acclaimed and recognised by the public for her work.

Taurus can also rule the physical body and the Moon over the health, and her body has been critically ill over the years. The dispositer of her Moon is Venus Conjunct Pluto in Gemini, square her Saturn/Pisces/8th.

Here is her death chart to show the the transits Jag pointed out. Pluto on the Asc square the M.C/I.C. The Ascendant represents the physical body. Jupiter is Conjuncting the Sun/Neptune the Sun is the ruler of her physical 1st house. Neptune rules the 8th house of death. Transiting Uranus is also on her Nodes. Jupiter also opposes Uranus.

Hi Jag,

On the Miscarriages which she had - in the link I gave below the biography it says she had 7 miscarriages. Frida had no problem getting pregnant but unfortunately kept losing the babies. In Fridas case it was through the accident why she couldn't have children. She broke the bones in her lower area and suffered physical damage. Mars/Physical damage Conjunct Uranus/Breaks in Capricorn to the bones. The aspect being in the 5th house indicates the damaging affect the accident had on her ability to have children.

I know not all miscarriages are accident related. My Mother and my sister have had miscarriages. They both have Moon square Mars. But in Fridas case it was accident related. The symbology of the accident and the house placement shows the area the accident affected.

There may be plenty of other factors which may also represent this Like possibly Sun ruler of 1st Conjunct Neptune in Cancer opposing Mars/Uranus in 5th all this relates to loss of children.
