What in her chart shows that she would devote her life to "the hungry, the naked, the homeless, the crippled, the blind, the lepers, all those people who feel unwanted, unloved, uncared for throughout society, people that have become a burden to the society and are shunned by everyone" as well as receive much public recognition for her efforts?

What would indicate that "she went to confession almost every day... and was constantly seeking to grow in her relationship with God" or her attitude towards other religions as shown in her statement

"There is only one God and He is God to all; therefore it is important that everyone is seen as equal before God.
I've always said we should help a Hindu become a better Hindu, a Muslim become a better Muslim, a Catholic become a
better Catholic."

And what about her reoccurring heart problems, especially later in her life. How is this shown in her birth chart?

*Note 1:
Regarding the conflicting information about her birthdate, I found the following:

"Mother Theresa, whose original name was Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu, was born on August 26, 1910 in what is now Skopje, Macedonia. She always wrote her birthday as the 27th of August because that was the day of her baptism, which was always more important to her than her birth."

*Note 2:
Regardless of any criticism you may have of her politics or the effectiveness of her efforts, there's no question that her life's work was in fact devoted to caring for the disadvantaged.

I think she gets her compassion from her religious beliefs which are shown by the Sag asc and jupiter which is conj her MC from the 9th. This obviously shows her career, a need for also harmony and peace.

Also what she values is shown by the second house. She values things of an Aqu nature - humankind and humanitarianism. She has chiron in the 2nd/pisces - which again shows that she is a healer and spiritual so as well as a teacher. They say chiron operates as a lower octave jupiter. Ura, ruler of 2nd sits in the 1st house/cap and is retrograde - this shows that she is an innovator and different too and looks inward to herself in regard to this to change structures, again probably her faith.

I also note her DC is Cancer and its ruler is exalted in Tau (moon in 5th) showing she is creative too. Nep also sits in the 7th, so she is compassionate in the personal relationships she has with others. Also note that she has a squ between jup and nep which probably adds an almost fanatical quality to her religiousness.

PLus 11th, related to comunity is sco; so she has a deep need to correct issues maybe. Its ruler pluto again sits in the 7th making her very deep and intense in her relations. Combine this also with her sun, mars and POF in th 8th - deeper side of life and probably giving her the ability to deal with the "scary" stuff.

Iteresting to see a 12th house interception as well. Again ruled by Sag.

Also ceres is in 4th and 4th is ruled by aries - shows that she had quite a bit of direct passion and nourishment from inside her.

Also note NN conj moon which is trine ura from the 1st. Need to develop nourishing skills and for her to make the personal change.

The amount of squs in her chart indicates that she had a tough life - a lot of squs between things like jup, nep, ura and ceres. Planets that would describe her.

Also a lot of trines, positive qualities she undoubtedly used in her vocation.

Heart probs, interesting. Heart is ruled by leo but I note that lib rules her 6th house (health) and its significator, venus, is in leo and the 8th and squ saturn.

Also look at her Neptune in the 7th "relationship with god" and also her connection she felt with the whole of humanity with Neptune in the 7th she gives more to others than she receives. She sacrifices herself to rescuing others. Neptune squares the M.C so her relationship with god and her rescuing is brought into her career. The public recognition for this must be Neptune in the 7th square M.C brings her selfless helping others and humanity Neptune/Uranus in to the public eye.

Possibly the 3rd/9th axis on Pisces/Virgo - spiritual communications (Neptune)and Virgo 9th daily religious activities.

Also for daily activities/work she has Gemini on the cusp of the 6th house and Mercury in Virgo in the 9th. Daily work involving travel and religion for her.

Look at the t.square with Neptune oppose Uranus and the focal point is Jupiter in the 9th/M.C. - Her spirituality/Sacrifice (Neptune) and Humanity (Uranus) is pointed towards her religion/Faith and career.

Relationship with God and the whole of humanity Neptune/Uranus/Jupiter .

wow, cool interpretations.

Regarding Ceres I found the following http://www.bobmarksastrologer.com/Ceres21.1.html

Ceres in the horoscope shows the early nurturing we received and how we nurture others. It also directly rules food and clothing. I have seen two cases of professional designers who had Ceres aspecting Pallas (which rules the ability to see patterns).

Ceres in the Signs shows our nurturing style and the types of things that make us feel nurtured. Ceres in the Houses shows where we are most likely to express our nurturing side and also where we can best receive nurturing. To find out more about Ceres and the other asteroids, the best book available is Asteroid Goddesses by Demetra George (http://www.bobmarksastrologer.com/recommendbooks.htm).

Ceres in Aries: is nurtured by action and physical activity. What kind of action? Any kind. Aries isn't that particular as long as it's moving. If you have this placement, you are less likely to nurture others by being cuddly. More likely, you will take them on some strenuous activity. If you have children with this placement, they may require fewer hugs and more mutual activities with you.

Ceres in the Fourth House: Being home nurtures you, and there is a tendency to nurture anyone and everyone in your home. It's as simple as that. But you could also feel nurtured by the homes in general, so this is a good placement for dealing in domestic real estate.

Quickly scanning wikkipedia I found this regarding her work:

[Her missionaries] began as a small order with 12 members in Calcutta; today it has more than 4,000 nuns running orphanages, AIDS hospices, and charity centres worldwide, and caring for refugees, the blind, disabled, aged, alcoholics, the poor and homeless and victims of floods, epidemics and famine on all six continents

At the time of her death, Mother Teresa's Missionaries of Charity had over 4,000 sisters, an associated brotherhood of 300 members, and over 100,000 lay volunteers, operating 610 missions in 123 countries. These included hospices and homes for people with HIV/AIDS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AIDS), leprosy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leprosy) and tuberculosis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tuberculosis), soup kitchens (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soup_kitchen), children's and family counseling programs, orphanages (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orphanage), and schools.

From my view, I'd perceive this in Neptune( devotion) in Cancer (caring) trine 11th house (humanity) MEAN Black Moon Lilith (the unacceptable of society) in Scorpio (hidden from view).

It is an interesting comparison that author Charles Dickens has Black Moon
Lilith in Virgo in the 11th house, and most of his novels were concerned with the shunned through poverty....never sufficient for their daily bread.

Recognition is part of the Sagittarius/9th house scenario, so I'd go along with 23 regarding Jupiter's position.

It's Gemini that is on the 6th house cusp, 23, not Libra, so Venus may not apply in the manner you considered. Mother Theresa did live to a ripe old age, so maybe her heart 'problems' were not such to have figured as a chart signature? Possibly Uranus, rhythmic problems that were activated through Jupiter's (ruler Asc.) progression to exact square?

Jupiter refers to religion and spiritual growth and Neptune to faith. I agree with Shining Ray. However the confessional is a form of 'ritual' for the release from 'earthly sins', which would seem to imply Saturn; positively Saturn-Sun in Virgo (perfection?). But I also wonder if 'sin' could be felt as an emotional feeling sense, which makes me think of BML-Neptune again.

Doh!

THanks Fris for picking that up, don't know how I read Lib on the 6th!

Great interpretations everyone!

i'm not familiar with BML so i found this really interesting. before i saw mother theresa's chart i was predicting more activity in the 11th house than i saw in her chart. 11th ruler trine MC seemed good but i just expected more connection. BML aspect works superbly!

nice.

i just noticed chart ruler in 8th house is also pretty revealing in that her life was about putting other people's resources to use and that part of her identity as a nun was defined by (lack of) sexuality. combined with all the symbolism of her 2nd house including chiron (wounded healer) conjunct pallas (pattern recognition, arranging), we have someone who rejects money but is able to successfully use other's resources to help those who don't have much themselves.

Something interesting and relevant regarding her Nobel prize money:

In 1979, Mother Teresa was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, "for work undertaken in the struggle to overcome poverty and distress, which also constitute a threat to peace." She refused the conventional ceremonial banquet given to laureates, and asked that the $6,000 funds be diverted to the poor in Calcutta, claiming the money would permit her to feed hundreds of needy for a year. She is stated to have said that earthly rewards were important only if they helped her help the world’s needy.

This being so, then it would possibly be more appropriate to use this date in analysing who she became in the world, particularly as her role was so defined by religious principles.

If i don't find it, is it still worth looking at her chart with time unkown, without context for the energies? (houses)
Or are there techniques to get around that?

Hi Onelove,

If the time is unknown, then I would use on of four pivotal moments of the day, midnight, dawn, noon and dusk, and see which best symbolises the event.

I would say dawn, because a baptism is a purification, a rebirth of sorts, and it might be seen as being brought from the darkness of the mundane realm into the light of the spiritual.

In fact, for a baptism or christening, then I think that dawn charts should be analysed anyway as a secondary chart.

In a chart for an execution for example, the dusk chart is worth analysing, as sunset represents death. Even if the time of execution is known, then the sunset chart is worth looking at as a secondary, for it's symbolic qualities.

I often like to look at midnight, dawn, noon and dusk charts in this way.

For example, in natal charts, even when the birth time is known, I think it is always worth a look at the chart for the sunrise prior to birth (which may be the day before), because it represents birth, and can tell us a lot about the qualities of the batch of souls that became incarnate into the world between that dawn to dawn period.
