I've always wondered why I'm not like a lot of Libra's that I know that tend to be curvy but not 20lbs overweight. I love food and all the rich .. bad for you type food :( I was talking to someone yesterday that mentioned her daughter was a Capricorn and just looking at food makes her gain weight. My natal Moon is in Capricorn.

Can someone share some insight on this for me?

Thank You :o

This is really interesting. I knew that astrology could be used for a lot of different things but I never knew that it could be used for this. Wow!

Hi Jagetoile, So my Moon in Cap squaring Saturn, this could be the cause of over-eating? It's not that I'm 300lbs  but I've always suffered with over-eating and weight gain. I've never been at my "normal" weight for long and only with extreme dieting.

When a friend mentioned about her daughter being a Capricorn and gaining weight easily it made me take a look at my own chart. Do you see anything else in my chart that could be causing an eating disorder?

Hi Double Libra,
This is interesting.
I would have thought that your venus/Jupiter conjunction would give you the desire to overeat or at the very least enjoy your food. Also possibly Mars in Sagittarius would contribute to your wanting to 'live the good life' so to speak.Librans do often tend to have a sweet tooth and like rich food.
Do you think this is an eating disorder which you have or are you like so many people who just gain weight easily but find it hard to lose it.
In my opinion planets in Capricorn dont normally contribute towards weight gain unless possibly, as Jagetoile pointed out, it is in an aspect pattern which can be linked to an eating disorder.

Hi Cossie, it's bordered on the verge of being an out of control over-eating disorder at times. Especially in the winter, it seems like I binge more. The weight drops off of me even just cutting back a little, but I've never have had the motivation to stay on a diet for more than a couple weeks. Interesting about the Venus/Jupiter conjunct. I didn't realize that could contribute to overeating. So it sounds like that and a combo of my Libra and Mars (Sag)

DoubleLibra

What about Saturn natally in the 6th House .. this placement alone would this contribute possibly?

Jag, Thank you for your insight ...

"Do you think that you drink or eat a lot when you sense insecure inside? emtions while eating are very important to you, you should eat in a nice, cozy and pleasant atmosphere. once again i think to solve the eating puzzles you should look into your psychological aspect. beside, avoid eating too fast when you have disharmonic Uranus in virgo."

Yes most definitely it's psychological. I eat for comfort but then end up feeling worse afterwards :( I've always ate way too fast! I've tried to mentally stop myself but I've found it's something I struggle with almost like shoveling it in .. hence over-eating.

CharmVirgo ... Interesting also on Neptune aspect. Yes it is an "escape" for me most definitely.

Yeah I would probably go with the Venus/Jupiter aspect because Venus rules your ascendant of the physical body and so may contribute to you overeating and putting on a few pounds.

I have Venus opposed Jupiter I love to eat, But I have more controlling factors around my body like Saturn Conjunct Asc in Virgo, I am very self conscious about my body more so in my teenage years. I also have Venus square Pluto which caused me at one time to control my food/control also with my Saturn in Virgo/1st I had a very controlled diet.

Although now I have put on more weight and this may be due to my transiting Saturn in the 12th, when I have my Saturn return hopefully I will lose it all again.

But yes Venus/Jupiter makes me overeat but it may be stronger for you having Venus the ruler of your 1st house/physical body. But you also have some controlling factors too Saturn/Moon and Saturn in 6th.

Just been thinking Cameron Diaz has Jupiter in the 1st house in Sagitarius and she isn't heavy. Maybe she has other strong control placements. I will have to look at her chart, but I am no expert on medical factors in the birth chart.

Shining Ray

Just looked at Cameron Diaz's Chart and she has mostly Capricorn Ascendant/Saturn in the 6th house. Sun in Virgo/Mars in Virgo and the Jupiter Conjunct her Ascendant is squared by Pluto. So she has a lot of controlling factors which may offset the Jupiter in 1st for weight gain.

Hi Shining Ray, I sure wish I had more of those controlling factors in my chart Lol I do like to indulge in all areas of my life not just eating

As you can probably tell from my posts I'm still learning aspects. Thanks for your insight :)

And P.S. I like your pic :D

Double Libra :I sure wish I had more of those controlling factors in my chart

You do! It's Saturn in the 6th house of physical complaints opposing natal Sun;). The problem is that both Jupiter and Saturn are fighting it out through square and sesquiquadrate aspect with Neptune, modern ruler of Pisces on your 6th house cusp. Jupiter is also the traditional ruler of Pisces. You could just as easily have a tendancy to whither away, depending upon which is stronger. Jupiter literally knows no bounds, whilst Saturn is saying, 'Hold on a minute; do you really want to give in to every desire that beckons (Aries!)?" But Saturn is retrograde and doesn't make any aspect to Mercury, so you may not hear and listen to your inner voice too well, which then creates the ' inner pain' of Chiron in 6th ( Mercury ssq Chiron), that you aren't....but could be...sylph-like.:)

Power of will is in the Sun. There is no aspect between Jupiter-Venus (ruler Asc.) and Sun, so you don't indulge yourself because you actually want to and enjoy doing so. The aspect is between Sun and Saturn. If there has been no controlling authority factor (Saturn) in one's life, it's difficult to learn self (Sun)- control. The power of will to do so has its job cut out for it. OR, if you are one who has never taken to authority(Saturn), being bossed about (Aries), having your freedom of expression (Sun rules 11th house) controlled, this could work 'psychologically' against you. "Hah! No one is going to control what I do/eat....not even myself." With natal Moon at the apex of the T-square Sun-Saturn-Moon, I agree with the comments that the eating pattern has emotional roots. the circumstances/events pertaining to the 4th/10th and 11th houses may be the reason for it.
Harsh Jupiter-Saturn aspects have correlations with mania/depression.

Incidentally,as a Capricorn Moon and a Sun-Jupiter square in the fixed signs, I have had a tendancy to put on weight over the years, mainly due to a lack of power of will. As a Taurean Sun and Venus in 9th, I LOVE the good life.:D My recent physical setback has made me think about the extra lbs. I am carrying around. I need to walk briskly daily (half-hour) and have changed my eating pattern; less bread, potatoes, and more veg. and fruit, yet not going without the now small piece of cake with tea, one biscuit with evening coffee and I still have the less-than-half-teaspoonful of sugar in hot drinks as I have an absolute apathy for saccharine/sweeteners resulting from sugar rationing after WW2. I've never liked sweet fizzy drinks, so sparkling water is fine. If the scales are true, I have lost 3lbs within a week! And THAT is the best incentive to carry on. I can reccommend it.:)

I looked in my Astrology health book for Venus-Jupiter ruler of Ascendant and here is the description - The biggest problem we have with Venus and Jupiter is one of excess and overindulgence. Even the hard aspects between these two planets do little to disturb the psychological or emotional well being of the person, other than to create a love of the good life and excessive feelings of entitlement that can result in greed and unrestrained behavior. A love of sweet and rich foods can be the biggest problem here, which can put tremendous strain on the liver. There may also be excessive glandular secretions and a reluctance to exercise. Obviously a sugary or high fat diet combined with a lack of exercise and a lazy approach will not do wonders for the body, and therefore anyone with these aspects needs to make a serious effort towards discipline and self restraint.

Lately I have been addicted to chocolate and this sounds terrible but I can't get through the morning without needing some chocolate to eat. And Tea I am addicted to having tea and I feel my body craving it if I don't have it, I can't rest or relax. I have Venus Opposed Jupiter and Venus Square Pluto so maybe I am prone to be addicted and overindulge in sweet foods. I have a lot of Pisces/Neptune too so I can get into addictive patterns - like relationships too. Addicted to the wrong type of unhealthy men.

Possibly with your Saturn in the 6th Double Libra you are learning how to manage your health and devise a healthy lifestlye.

Wow I never knew how alike Me and Cameron Diaz were!!! LOL
I am also Capricorn ascendant, saturn in 6th,sun in virgo and jupiter in first house.
I feel that my 1st house jupiter does occassionally give rise to overeating and indulgence, especially on sweet things eg chocolate (I have venus in libra too). But my Capricorn/saturn influence soon comes into play and 'keeps me in check' so I dont go too far.I also have a fast metabolism so I find that I can eat more than most people without gaining much weight and therefore lose weight quickly when I want to, and I put this down to saturn too.

Very good point you make Jag because my Venus is in the 5th house of children and when I was pregnant I had my sugar level looked at and it was higher than it should have been. So for a week before I had to go back to the doctors I reduced my sugar intake and I was eating healthier. I went back the doctor's and I was back to normal.

I thought I had a blood sugar level problem once because I went through a phase of lack of energy and so on. I even bought a diabetes book convinced I had it. It all turned out fine. But I do believe I am prone to high sugar levels in my body. I have sweeteners in my tea, so I don't put sugar in. My weakness is Chocolate.

Hi Frisiangal, Thanks so much for the insight!

Poor Willpower  yes definitely not strong in that area.

4th House - Mother has always been real "strict" with her eating habits, and I feel has always watched what "I" eat. I told her once that I feel she has contributed to me having an over-eating problem.

And - Jupiter-Saturn aspects have correlations with mania/depression - I suffer with depression, which I also read can also be associated with Moon in Capricorn.

look at where is your Venus, if it is in Scorpio or Virgo or in 6nd/8th, be careful with sugar. Jag:)

I've got Venus in Virgo in the 6th and I'm really sensitive to sugar. I don't eat refined sugar, anymore. But when I did, if I had it on an empty stomach, it would upset my stomach. When I was little, I used to give away my Halloween candy.

"Use your controlling factor of Saturn in 6th, because Venus in Virgo is willing to comply. Mars in Sagittarius gives a positive drive to your Jupiter, also Saturn is placed in Aries, so again you can find that positive drive."

It's funny how "controlling" I can be in other ways, say for instance love relationships  Gotta work with my Saturn and Mars it sounds like :)

I'm also sensitive to alcohol along with sugar ... Could this also possibly be Saturn in the 6th? I've finally given up drinking except for once in a blue moon. I hated feeling like c*%^# the next day :(

Now, if I could just do the same with sugar I'd feel 100% better I know! Good for you Libra20 :)

Chocolates, Ice Cream, anything sweet is my downfall. And fatty-rich foods like Mac N Cheese so yummy but so bad for you! :) But you're right there are a lot of healthy alternatives. I bought a bag of banana chips the other day and they were great. I had remembered that I ate them once before when I was trying to lose weight and loved them. I also like nuts and seeds, which are also good alternatives.

Luckily, I don't drive since I live here in New York City. Sheesh if I wasn't walking and taking stairs all the time, I'd probably weigh 300lbs! lol I think all the walking I do here helps me at least maintain.

Libra20

I actually did have sugar cravings in my late 20's. I went through quite a fresh baked chocolate chip cookie faze! When I quit, I found it easier to go cold turkey. When I had it sometimes, I'd always think about the next time I was going to allow myself to have the cookie. When I totally cut out sugar and it was no longer an option, it was no big deal. Fresh cookies on the table were just like flowers on the table, another object and that was all.

Be careful with things like Banana Chips. Read the ingredients. They often are fried and have saturated fats. Start reading lots of labels and try to avoid ingredients that sound processed. Just be careful about things that portray themselves as natural, but aren't really. Most people don't bother to read the ingredients. You are in NY, so if you go to a place like Whole Foods, you can find desserts that are made without sugar. I know WF carries Fabe's which is fruit juice sweetened.

What about instead of eating 2-3 big meals a day, you switched to 5+ small ones. You can keep lots of nuts, fruit, veggies (like baby carrots, celery) things that you can just snack on. Whole grains are good too. Do you ever eat things like quinoa. It's got lots of protein and is considered one of the more complete foods. It is also very inexpensive if you buy it in the bulk bins. I usually make it with vegetables or toss in some beans.

What about eating more vegetarian foods and seafood. The one thing I will tell you is that if you can hang in there for a while with the diet, that the really fatty, bad for you foods will stop tasting so good. If you eat really natural, healthy for a while, you start to tell when stuff isn't good for you and stop craving it as much. At least that has been my experience. Also, talk to your body and let it know what you are doing and what you want it to do. It might sound silly, but it works.

I'm sensitive to alcohol, too. I finally stopped drinking all together a couple years ago. It just upset my stomach, too much. Even just a drink or two would upset my stomach.

Good luck with it all. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me, also :)

Libra20,

Thanks for all the great suggestions. I'm going to check out Whole Foods, even though it's a little pricey for my budget I'm going to see what I can find. Also, I think going "cold turkey" would be best for me. Allowing myself to have something sugary once in awhile for me is like giving an alcoholic a drink when he/she knows they can't have it period.

Thanks Again :)

"What about Saturn natally in the 6th House .. this placement alone would this contribute possibly?"

Natally, I have 5Pisces on my Ascendant, and have Saturn, Pluto, and the Moon all conjunct Leo in the 6th house, and for many years I have been pretty disciplined about my diet. Jupiter Rx in Scorpio(8th house) squares that Moon and Pluto. I was force-fed for a bit as an infant, as I didn't care to eat. To this day I have a horror of feeling overly full, so I only eat until feeling somewhat satisfied - there is a difference! Only one time in my life was I overweight, and that was in my mid-20's(after moving to NYC and having a stressful sedentary job and no exercise). I got onto a good exercise program, and shed excess weight easily. I have continued to exercise regularly over the last 33 years(general exercise, adult ballet training, yoga, recreational bodybuilding, distance walking), and I'm back at a good gym since I returned to San Francisco recently. Over the years I have refined my knowledge of what does and doesn't work for in the way of food. But early on, even as a kid, I disliked(and still do)things that are excessively sweet and would become ill if I indulged much at all. So to this day, I don't eat most sweet things(as most of those have even more awful forms of sweetener than formerly) - my only form of treat is some good quality very dark chocolate, which is very satisfying eaten in small amounts, the way that Europeans eat it. I have also found that what other people eat with impunity can easily make me ill, or just feel out of sorts. The typical Standard American Diet is totally contra-indicated for me, with its high amount of processed foods, dairy, fast foods, junk meats, etc. What DOES work for me is a largely unrprocessed diet that features a significant amount of raw produce(fruits and vegs - LOVE these), nuts, seeds, some whole grains, legumes, and small amounts of the lighter animal proteins(like seafood, lean poultry, and eggs), and water as my primary beverage. Not a big fan of dairy products either other than small amounts of a good cheese occasionally. This has paid off, as I am in good health now, and aim to be in even BETTER health as I get older(now 59).

Wow this thread is amazing! I have the opposite problem: I don't like eating. I also have Libra rising, Uranus conjunct the asc, and Pisces ruling my 6th. Chiron is in the 6th. Whenever I have a problem, I feel the solution is depriving myself of food. It's weird. I know I have a problem. If I'm confused about something, I will fast on nothing but hot water with lemon. I feel like it's the right thing to do spiritually. It's almost like I need to be thin, in order to lead a richer spiritual life...I know this sounds crazy.:o

Pisceskitty, Can you rub some of that off on me?? :D I understand what you're saying about feeling more spiritual when eating less. If anything Capricorn and Saturn tend to limit and lack. They do not represent weight gain as such. Your Jupiter conjunct your chart Ruler Venus is the culprit. I imagine you have sugar cravings which belong to Libra. You must watch your kidneys and pancreas especially. As a double Libra you are more prone to gain weight in midlife. With Saturn in the 6th you may fear not getting enough food due to unemployment at some time??? Was that ever an issue? Also childhood influences around food gave you some sense of lack or shortage or that you needed to grab what you could or food was used as a tool or a ploy....... However Moon in Capricorn is rather disciplined or your upbringing was. Your mother may have been hardworking but rather strict and frugal.......This leads to your guilt feelings about your eating patterns. Venus in Virgo also highlights a love of food especially of the everyday kind or junk food. The ruler of your 6th house is Neptune which is in 2nd house of material appetites including sensuality and food. This is square Jupiter the planet of excess.

Moon relates to nurturance issues and stomach but not just food. In your case it is your Venus and Jupiter as main indicators..

Hi Claire, That's an interesting point about "Fear of not getting enough food due to lack of unemployment" I can identify with that as when I'm short on money that's when I have a tendency to "stock up" on food  I hate "empty" cupboards. My mother was also very disciplined and strict. I remember hiding food under my bed from her. I'm more of a "junk-food" addict than anything (Venus in Virgo)

I love rich foods - chocolate, pasta etc. Probably caused more by venus in Sag and Jup conj Asc. However, I do have a libran moon (opp jup), also a lover of refined (...food...) luxury

Claire19

Okay, so you say that you always were into food but have gained weight as you are heading for mid life. I started to gain weight at 40 or so as did my mother.......no more intake of food, just the metabolism slowed down. I was in an office job and did very little exercise. I have four planets in Libra and a Taurus Moon. My mother got heavy at the same age as did one of my sisters.

Do you eat with your friends a lot?? I think the only answer to exercise more, I dont believe in depriving oneself of food, that never works. I also love chocolate and have some every day.

Cheers

Hi DL -

I've got Jupiter in Libra, in addition to my sun and my Descendant is Libra. And I've got lots of planets in Virgo, so I do enjoy my food a lot. And I am a bit too excessive about healthy diet.

I started losing weight when I switched to a vegetarian diet that includes seafood. (In my case, this isn't a good thing since I was already thin.) I have a friend that dropped a ton of weight switching to a raw diet, but that is too tough for most people, me included, but she feels the best that she has ever felt.

Look out for those hidden fats, like salad dressings that are high in calories or foods with hydrogenated fats etc. I think if you do lots of small healthy snacks of veggies, fruits and nuts, then you will eat less at your main meals.

Have you ever checked to see if you have a gluten intolerance? What happens if you cut out wheat unless it is sprouted? That might be an experiment that you could do. Just read the labels. I've found that many brands of sprouted wheat bread add wheat gluten so it tastes softer/moister, but that negates the advantages of having sprouted in the first place.
