This isn't a very long explanation but it does give a few pointers of what to look for when studying the chart to determine the type of Vocation a person may be interested in. It is good for beginners to learn.

Vocation and Finance

Generally we determine vocation and finance by the 2nd, 6th, 8th, and 10th houses.

Vocation: Is specifically judged by the 10th house sign, the ruler thereof, planets therein, and the ruler of the horoscope. Also consider the house which contains the majority of planets, and the 6th house the house of service.

Finance: Determined by the 2nd house, the ruler of the sign on its cusp, planets therein, the sign Taurus and the planets Jupiter and Saturn.

This is really good, Shining, Thank you!

It`s the most informative, but also most concise & straightforward bit of information about this that i`ve ever come across. This is actually right on point, too! I remember Mary used some of these things when doing my vocational report.

Thanks again! ♥
take care

I've been wondering about this as I study my own chart. It seems like I can't find the right career path for myself. Now this will definitely be helpful for me. Thanks!

Keys to the Interpretation of the Part of Fortune:

As noted above, the Part of Fortune points to innate talents that set us on a path to worldly success.

First look to any planets or points that are tightly conjunct or opposite the Part of Fortune as significators of vocation, career, and natural talents--keys to success.
Second, determine the ruling planet of the sign of the Part of Fortune, and consider that planet as another significator.
Consider the sign and house placement of the Part of Fortune as qualities and areas of life where we possess natural and innate talents or abilities, and that can be considered keys to worldly success and prosperity.
Look to any planets or points posited in the same sign as the Part of Fortune, whether or not they are conjunct the point. These will also play a role in our profession.

I have my Part of Fortune on the Ascendant Conjunct my NN so hopefully once I move towards my North Node goal I will access my part of fortune my Saturn Conjuncts my North Node too so it seems my success and fortune lies in accessing my career through the NN Virgo. My ruler of the North Node Virgo/Mercury is placed in Pisces my 7th house.

Analysing, health matters, talking in one-one relationships could be a possible career for me. I do have an interest in people's mental well being. But I haven't got the brains to be a psychologist but helping people feel better about themselves and giving them support through hard times does appeal to me. I am getting nearer to the career I possibly want for myself, I still need more time to think exactly what area I want to go into.

An Astrologer has told me I have the ability to make a lot of money, so hopefully I will find my place in the world and find a career for myself.

[quote](1)My Part of Fortune is in Pisces, exactly conjunct "the Beast" (as, I believe, Starnoud taught me in chat) It is also loosely conjunct Saturn in PIsces, which is also exactly conjunct Eros.

(2)The ruling planet of POF would be Neptune. My Neptune is in Scorpio in the 10th house. (Transiting Jupiter is separating from an exact conjunct at this time)

(3) Part of Fortune is in Pisces in the 2nd house, with Aquarius on the cusp.

(4) Other planets in Pisces: Chiron is conjunct Ceres by 2*. This almost exactly opposes my Uranus/Pluto conjunction in Virgo in the 8th house.

Transiting Mercury, Venus, Sun, and Mars are all loosely conjunct my Neptune in 10th house. Transiting Uranus is exactly conjunct my natal Saturn in Pisces, and loosely conjunct POF. It is also opposing my natal Uranus/Pluto conjunction, but by a 8 or 9* orb.

So what could all of this mean? In the very core of my being, I "feel" a change happening. I'm just not sure how to read it in my chart. I'm kinda new to reading transits, too.

My Part of Fortune is in 21º 21' Leo, in the 2nd house.

I have no planets nor important points in the sign of Leo or in the 2nd house, except for Eros. It is conjunct Fixed Star "Ras Eleased Borealis" from the constellation fo the "Head of the Lion". It means an appreciation for language and a power of expression. Conveys higher spiritual gifts of the Logos to those men who are able to conceive them.

My Sun is in Taurus in the 10th house. (opposed Jupiter in the 4th house in Scorpio)

Taurus and 2nd house are analogical, Fortunate in practical things. Hability for resources, tradition, values, memory. May have artistic appreciation.
10th is associated with career, and it is also an earthy, practical house.
Leo and the Sun would apply for expression, leadership, creative occupations, being in the spotlight but also education.

I guess I will be fortunate in those areas

By the way saturn has been conjunct my part of fortune for a while, it is conjunct it now.

Hello Shining Ray,
I used the Arabic Parts calculator link Onelove gave, and got 25 degrees 55 minutes Pisces for fortune. It is an interesting point for it is near and inside the Cusp of my second house and just 21 minutes shy of perfect conjunction to my natal Chiron. Saturn is at 28 degrees 50 minutes Pisces. I wonder what all this could indicate vocationally. Hmmm.
Thanks. Also does anyone know what these calculations mean like for example out of curiousity I used the table to calculate a divorce. Something I am able to test it against. It showed 26 degrees 46 minutes Capricorn what does that mean? I had a divorce last September 17 it can not indicate the Sun's position LOL. But that day was the day transiting Saturn conjuncted my Natal Sun exactly though.
Appreciate any input. Thanks!
Take care
Franklin

I too have my POF conjunct my North Node in Gemini. It is in the 4th house conjunct Uranus. I have studied and taught astrology at home. I now work from home in other areas and have been drawn away from the South Node in 10th and the public arena and being denied positions of authority I realised I needed to head for the 4th house activities. I am now caring for both my elderly parents and have a real home for the first time in my life. 4th house also denotes end of life conditions and where we finally are laid to rest. All of the above happened in middle age for me and in my youth was rebellious and moved around a lot. (Uranus Gemini)

SO really my vocation is to keep the home fires burning, acquire a home of my own and take care of family...........

Our finances relate to the 2nd house of personal assets and income and the talents and means of gaining them. Also on what we tend to spend our money. Our values. (Taurus house and Venus ruler). MY ASSETS

The 8th house is sharing with others assets. Gifts, loans and bequests, inheritance etc. Scorpio (Pluto/Mars) YOUR ASSETS

10th house is career ambitions and where we wish to be an authority and where we deal with authorities. Capricorn ( Saturn Ruler). MY ASPIRATIONS

6th house is our everyday labour and meeting needs such as clothing, housing and food and the techniques employed to gain these and conditions under which we work. (Virgo's house and ruler Mercury) EVERYDAY NEEDS FOR EVERYONE.

Intersting subject, I am always concerning career matters, specially because I'm getting near to take a decision. If considering the Part of Fortune, it's in Aries in my 12th house. I always take charge in active and risk taking activities, individual sports and things like, specially with Mars in Aries. About 12th house, maybe I would excell in activities from the underworld, behind the scenes or secret organizations (ruler of the 12th in 11th house). I also have the abillity to do things withouth being noted.

That's it, if consider the MC and the whole chart, it's a long story.

my POF is in the second house, 11 degrees virgo conjunct my mercury which is in 13 degrees virgo. I think that thats a clear indication that I like to write. As of recent, however, my communication skills have detoriated. I seem to have a hard time finding the right words to convey even the simplest of thoughts. Anyway, I think this is an interesting topic =)

I don't know what you mean by "the Beast" - what is it? Please excuse me. I'd say that your POF would involve "work" that involves spirituality and compassion. Your spirituality (pisces) and humanitarianism (aqu, 2nd h) is what you value. Its loose conj with sat indicates that maybe you might be an authority in the field or maybe provide structure to it. Eros means that maybe that this is a passion of yours (I'm not really interpreting eros here as more like erotic love). Nep in 10th/sco means that again, it directs you to a career; maybe this time with more investigation (of spirituality).

I'm presuming that ceres/chiron is in 2nd - this indicates that you value and have the ability to nourish people and heal them in either a spiritual way (pisc) or intiutive humane way (aqu). This might require you to challenge their deepest fears or challenge their structure, you might have to go against the grain (ura/plu conj and opp others) and in a very penetrative way (8th).

The transiting planets will move over in due course. You are thinking about issues re career - 10th house.

My POF sits in cap in the 9th house. The significator of my POF is saturn in cancer in 4th house. My POF is unaspected!

I guess my POF is hard work in a 9th house field - universities, places of philosophy or overseas. It also involves links to do with authority and maybe my past or do with domestic scenes. I am not able to integrate this with other parts of my chart (or energies). I know that I have to engage in such activities to try to assist the unaspected POF.

23!
I haven't heard from you in a while! Where ya' been hidin'?

Thanks so much for helping me make sense out of all of that. You outlined everything very clearly, and it really did help me understand the whole thing much better.

It kinda sounds like you're describing Gandhi though. :D

As to "the Beast", these are the notes I took from Starnoud in chat:

"The Dragon" - is 90 degrees exactly from your North Node. This is where you meet yourself, and where you have been fighting yourself for nothing. The North Node is the path to the Dragon.

"The Beast" - is opposite "The Dragon". This is where you live your heart's desires. Feed the beast so you will get energy.

(That is all I have on it. Perhaps Starnoud or someone else more familiar with this can add to it.)

So... to outline this in my example: My North Node is at 4* Gemini/South Node 4* Sagittarius. My Dragon is at 4* Virgo, and My Beast is at 4* Pisces, exactly conjunct my Part of Fortune.

Hi FL,
Some technological disasters left me computerless for a month and then I was just slowly getting back in :)

Thanks for your explanation, thats interesting, but dont you technically have two squs to any point/planet? I'd understand why you'd choose "the beast" as conj with NN as it involves your future and what you should strive for

hmmmm, its as simple as a squ between NN and POF. Basically, if you are able to overcome this "clash", then the energy that you can harness from it is enormous ---> hence the description for the beast.

23,

I dunno.... I'd never heard of it before Starnoud told me about it in chat. I saw a huge relevancy to it in chart interpretation, however, and took a few notes. I've just been so busy with other things that I haven't had time to study it in any more depth.

Yes, they are all at exact 90* squares from each other. This is where each can be found in every chart, not just mine. I just posted my points for an example. The way Starnoud taught me is to first look for "The Dragon" at exactly 90* from your NN. Then "The Beast" is directly opposite "The Dragon".

It is really hard to be in your position Claire. I am somewhat the same way and I am currently fine tuning everything so that I can actually feel balanced for the first time in my life. I'm sure that it'll be a great feeling when I do get there eventually.

I have always found it an interesting subject to discuss how astrology can tell us what kind of job that we should be in. I know for sure that I'm starting to find my right line but I definitely should sit down and look at my chart instead of just "guessing."

Hi CharmVirgo,

I really liked your interpretation for my possible vocation. I am beginning to think I am just a wannabe counsellor :D Once I get my own life sorted I hope some career options open for me. I do feel a strong need to help people so who knows what the future holds for me. I never really thought about my POF opposing my Moon/Mercury in 7th and possibly offering help for free.

Thanks CharmVirgo

Hi Charm,
I thought my POF was there at 20 degrees Sagittarius also, Even though I have calculated it using Robert Hand's method and it was at 1 degree Scorpio it's not that hard to calculate I do not understand such deviations. What I was looking at on the thread here was the Arabic Part of Fortune calculator Link that Onelove had given on here. Yeah the military made a small fortune for me, but at what cost (only my vitality or life you might say in my opinion) Oh well, that's where the POF squaring Saturn comes in LOL, or conjuncting Saturn in Pisces by a small orb maybe whatever. I have read all three Sagittarius, Scorpio, and Pisces POFs, I'd like to think my POF was in Sagittarius anyway LOL Thanks.

Hey 23,
Hadn't talked to you in a while I read on here for the reason why. Good to see you back. Probably "Sag Like" being that POF is the only thing that vaguely touches that upper east quadrant of my chart. Since these are imaginary points and there are no real bodies there, there is not tons upon tons of concern with it to me anyhow. Not saying they don't have their influences. I do like to see some body near a power point. Especially when I read differing sources on how its measured thus differing points. In astrology, liken to life, we do not always receive things how we want them though do we? POF may be out there "all by it's lonesome". LOL.
Take care

North node in Gemini conjunct POF, is impressive

North n Gemini is in exaltation and POF as well. Node in Direct is easier than in retro for the natal chart as well. Glad you found home to be where you are supposed to work.

My POF is 24 Aries, third house trine moon in eleventh trine Pluto oppose Par of Spirit, Mars, and LOL, my MC is Scorpio. Pluto is conjunct Vertex

Seems at times, a lot of the natal chart has patterns.

Noel Tyl seems to focus on other techniques for career. midpoints, Aries points, quintiles and the like. LOL, I have mars and mercury in quintile
Mars again and Mercury. Focus on communications with Scorpio, do not know about that one. regeneration, death, transformation, research

Now, to make this complete, sun in second, Jupiter in sixth trine MC and Saturn in 10th. Rulers, Neptune, Moon, and Pluto and mars.

Lets round this out, Neptune and mercury trine, merc and moon almost sextile and Mars is sextile to ruler of eleventh house, Jupiter, where the moon is.
Group therapy or hierarchy and structure, Saturn

Mars in fourth house, the home
And to make this complete, the lucky planet Jupiter is in Cancer, home. however will continually balancing home and career together, Home with one huge room for study and lectures, teaching transformation techniques
