Lost Birth Certificate- please help

hi there... I would completely appreciate help finding my birth certificate. I am such an organized person and have always kept it with my passport in a file cabinet. well, it was Monday September 25th, 2006 at 9pm in Toronto, Ontario Canada. I went to find it for an important application and it is gone! I cant understand it. The deadline for an important grant is approaching, and finding it will be infinitely better than the expensive and draining process of trying to expediate a new copy. any help is greatly appreciated. it may not be needed for horary, but i will add my birth data. i was born january 27th, 1976 at 328pm, toronto ontario canada. Thank you a million times for any insights!

thank you so much for the feedback. i took your advice and looked in all the places you suggested. then i got frustrated and looked everywhere else! no luck, the birth certificate appears gone...poof! i have ordered a replacement for now...and thank you very kindly for your help.
