After reading Shiningrays thread on conception I thought of something which Ive wondered about doing myself.
I would like to plan a second child sometime in the near future.I often look forward to see what the planets will be doing in 9 months time to see if I can figure out the best time to have a baby and what kind of person it will be.
Often after doing this I feel guilty because I feel like I shouldnt be meddling in this way ,and its like Im using astrology in the wrong way and taking on the responsibilty of giving my baby a good or bad chart.
Of course you cant really plan time of birth or even the birth to the day so planning like this is never going to really work.
However I would be interested in knowing if any one else tried this and generally what peoples opinions are about it.
Many Thanks
I can't help but think that you can't reallly expect to conceive for a child to turn exactly as you want. I mean pregnancies vary in length, some are premature, some are overdue. I was one month overdue. I often joke about having a child and wanting it to be this sign and have these qualities or those qualities. Maybe its just better to leave it the heavens above and live with what comes up.
My two cents: I think most people with at least a basic knowledge of astrology feel tempted to do that. However, unless the mother is going to deliver the baby by caesarian section one cannot choose the exact chart, but one can place most of the planets in signs as the normal interval is +/- 2 weeks around the exact date.
So one could set the baby to have strong planets in their own sign, such Jupiter in Sagittarius sextile Venus in Libra (1 Dec 2007), for a harmonious love life, but how fair is it?! Just as you said.
When planning my first baby I didn't consider at all any astrological elements about his chart, I only looked for the conception day (both biologically and astrologically fertile day - dr.Jonas theory) so that it might take place easily, disregarding the resulting baby chart. And it went easily did, at the first attempt. The resulting baby chart is quite ok, in many ways. His chart reflects the parents' charts in many points, there're some patterns in his chart we recognize in our charts. It's like he's what we deserve, or like he came in the right place.
If one conceives a child and then meddles with the birth chart, this is wrong because the soul who is already almost fully incarnated in the baby has its own life program and purpose, of which one cannot know. Changing the birth moment (by having c-section or even provoked or delayed vaginal birth at a certain astrological moment) will interfere with its program.
The same theory seems less valid if one meddles only with the conception moment, as another soul may come according to the conception moment.
But isn't there a specific soul that has to come as the baby and changing the conception moment will disable it to do so?! I don't know about that... but if it's true that electing the conception moment is wrong also.
The best thing to do seems to do spiritual work on ourselves and trust that the Universe will deliver the best baby we deserve, the best we can handle...

Yeah I think your right 23 it is not really possible to plan a baby for a particular day or week! Even if it was possible we would probably feel guilty about any issues on the chart that the child may have to deal with.
Im still interested in what people think though.
Thanks for your reply.

Wow! Thanks Radu,I totally agree with what you said.
Whenever Ive set out to attempt to find a good time for a baby to be born Ive always given up and decided the best way is to trust in the universe.
Thanks for your comments and interesting that you used astrology to help you choose a conception date.I definately believe that the conditions of the planets and the parents on the day of conception are influential on the resulting child.I can definately see in my daughters chart how the environment at the time of her conception is reflected in her planets and houses. Really pleased this worked for you and food for thought for anyone planning a baby in the future.
Many thanks for your response .

This is an interesting discussion it is a bit like the film Gattaca where the baby is genetically engineered to be as perfect as possible but in the end it didn't prove these children were any stronger or capable, they engineered the children so they wouldn't be prone genetically to certain diseases. Or something like that.
But it is quite controversial to think you could time the birth of your child for better placed planets and aspects you are deciding their purpose for them. Just because a person has difficult aspects does not mean they will not achieve, they usually achieve more because of the challenging energy in the birth chart. We all want the best for our children and they need to face challenges for their spiritual growth. You have seen my previous posts on being afraid to look at my son's placements but I love him and realise he has his challenges too so I have got over my worries about his chart.

Of course even if we could give our child an easy trouble free chart it might mean that life is too easy for them and they would never feel motivated or challenged and would never achieve anything!
Often those people whose charts show many challenges achieve far more and are more interesting people as a result.
So dont worry about your son Shiningray,as with such an understanding mother he will surely overcome his obstacles with your help and lead an interesting and eventful life as a result!

This is a tough issue because I think well why do we all have to make everything so perfect why can't we love what is imperfect. But if I was in a situation where I could help my child have a better life by say Astrologically choosing a different time he could be born and maybe delay the birth so he could be born without a certain affliction which could affect him health wise not too sure what decision I would make. I do feel though that we could be meddling with nature. But I would meddle with nature to help my own child.

Del, there are so-called karmic implications. This is not about us, remember, this is about our children, changing their birth chart means to modify their destiny without their consent.
Health and illnesses, destiny itself are irrelevant values when it comes to soul issues of spirituality, soul evolution and karma, which are much more important. There are spiritual beings that take care that the newborn will have the proper life and destiny for his current level of evolution. Changing the baby's destiny as we find convenient shows us believing that we know better what's best for the child than these highly evolved spiritual beings, which is demonic by definition.
Right, totally personal, subjective beliefs, there is no way or desire of proving them. I choose to believe them, though, because I *feel* this is right.
