I have met two or three of this 'phenomenon' because i do not know what else to call it. when you first meet these types of couples, you first consider them siblings and then find out they are a couple. I kind of get weirded out by it, but also want to try to get a better understanding of it.
the first two couples are meer acquaintances whom i do not keep in touch with. the third is a relationship that is just taking off. the woman is a neighbor friend of mine, a Christian woman who thinks this type of relationship is extra 'special', Mr Right/Ms Right, and is typically very long term.
i wonder if these couples have had previous incarnation(s) of inbreeding marriage.
your opinion? you think? you know?....

LOL. I don't know, but I have certainly met enough lesbian couples who dress alike, style their hair alike, do everythibg together. Then after a few years they suffer the dreaded "Lesbian Bed Death". I'm for couple diversity, of whatever persuasion! It keeps things poppin'.

Hi 2rainbows and welcome aboard!

In case of couples with successful longer-term relationships, I think that the time spent together, the feelings shared, the exchange of personal energies, all these contribute to them getting even closer, having couple habits, sharing most things, from money or objects to feelings and ideas and ultimately looking alike.
It's a natural process.

Yes Radu, this also has a tendency to happen between human and dog companions! However, I am talking about extremely similar looks right from the start and not over time.

People are attracted to people who look like them or their parent of the opposite sex. L.

Yes I have often seen in social pages with weddings of couples looking alike (attraction to the familiar/self), and if not, they have characteristics of the opposite parents. My partner often remarks how similar I am to his mother and step-mother in personality. If not, then blame it on immunoglobins, where people look for different immunoglobins when searching mates.
