Hi there people. We've had a question from one of our members regarding her time of birth and whether it's from delivery or first breath. The circumstances around her birth were such that she was delivered approx 45 minutes before the umbilical cord was cut (first breath). So which is her birth time?

The details of her life are listed here - http://www.astrologysociety.org.za/content/view/259/11/ - any of you willing to take a look and have a bash at the rectification?

Looking forward to your feedback.

I'd say the first breath counts, as the baby isn't physically a different being than the mother unless the umbilical cord is cut and the baby breaths independently.
But I'm not sure what happens if the baby starts breathing and the umbilical cord is yet not cut.

Question: Could one honestly say that the birth was finished until the umbilical cord is cut?

I agree with you, Radu. My first instinct when I read the article was that the baby had to be separated from its mother before the birth could be "official". There's really no difference in or out of the womb, if the umbilical cord is still attached.

(Hmmm... Seems like a symbol of much of what's wrong with the world - the cord needs cut.)

Although the jury is still out if the baby would start breathing on its own.
