I was looking at Sun Sign occupations, but I think if you had a planet or placements strong in your chart it would indicate the career.

For example the sign of Gemini on the cusp of the 6th House or 10th house. You could use the list of occupations for Gemini Sun Sign for this career e.g journalism, you may have a stellium of planets in the third house which would also indicate a Gemini type career.

I will make a list of Sun Sign Occupations and if you have these signs on the cusp of the 6th, or 10th or lots of planets in the sign, or one of the houses. I would like to know if you are in this type of career.

I know you should use the sign on the cusp of the house for work indicators and planets within, I would like to see how well this works. Even if your not in employment do these jobs appeal to you.

Shining Ray,

Thank you for posting this list! :)

I have come to the startling realization that my natal chart is clearly indicating some occupation involving fire-type activities--namely, my Aries Sun, my Leo sixth house cusp, and my possible Sagittarius Midheaven.

However, I cannot quite imagine myself joining the circus or driving racecars...

Yes, I was tempted to pose an amendment to Sagittarius; we do plenty more!! This is a good start, but I'm sure we could come up with a broader range of professions associated with each sign...

I have Sun in Taurus in my 10th and I´m a musician. I love the artistic aspect od archtecture, too.

Any way I think considering the Sun sign for possible interest is very limited. And should be taken into account only if placed in a prominet place within the Vocational Profile.

Also, I´m very interested in another aspect that do not include my Sun beign in Taurus.

My mother has Moon, Sun and Asc in Gemini and she does not apply to any of the occupations detailed in your Gemini, Sun sign profile.

Astrology is not that simple.

Mary since you offer vocational advice, it would be helpful if you would offer some information on how you would find a person's best occupation in the Natal Chart. Help us all to learn.

I have been at a loss for some time as to what kind of career I am suited for. I spent much of adult life in work that I didn't really care for and was not truly suited for. I am on the upward end of recovering from a long, draining illness. However, I would like to contribute something in the way of work. I am currently limited, as to being able to get around well physically, but that will change in the near future. My question is: As to gifts, talents, and inclinations, what does my chart say? I'm interested in things I could do right now, and also long-term, overall career-type things. Also, any blockages that I'm allowing to prevent me from doing these. I have the sneaking suspicion that my illness is related to these aforementioned blockages.;)

Much thanks!

P.S. This is an edit: Never mind the thumbnail. It won't enlarge. I had someone help me, but we keep hitting deadends, as to getting my chart to appear. I was hoping to have it up, as it seems posts that have charts get more responses. Alas...... Well, my natal data is: Born 11-28-65 9:32am in Charleston, WV USA I also used asteroids, black moon lilith (h13) and eros (433). Sorry!

EDIT: Howl, I fixed your chart--you simply needed to add a bracket! ;)

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Yes, it is accurate, although minus the "extras" (asteroids, etc) that I always add, but accurate! .... and Useable!

Thank you, thank you, thank you............

Now, is there a way I can get this to come up in future posts? or saved to my profile for future reference?

I am not sure if Mary read my post clearly or not, but I have listed the Sun Sign occupations as guides. If you have Taurus on the cusp of the 6th or 10th house, look at the list of occupations for the Sun Sign Taurus for ideas.

You might have lots of planets in the 7th house for example the Libra house so in the Libra list of occupations, Counseling or being a lawyer might appeal to you. Venus may be in your 6th house, does a career in beauty attract you. I am trying to learn how to find a person's best talents or daily job in the Natal Chart.

If anyone has more knowledge on the subject, please share it. Or just explain your occupation and where you think it shows up in your birth chart. I am no expert on the subject but would love to learn.

Freedomlover I myself am at a loss in what work I would like to do. I want to find my direction and I was hoping to find more clues in my Natal Chart. As Astrology students, whether we learn the subject for fun or not, I think it would be useful to be able to point to indicators of work in the Natal Chart.

Thank you very much for your help, A.M. I tried to go back and edit my last post and copied it into it. I then clicked on the post and it did the same thing that it's been doing - it took me to the imageshack link - no chart. Have you tried clicking on it and seeing what you got? I got this when me and my friend tried, when Howl tried, and when you tried. Could it possibly have a wrong code in it or something? This is typical of my life - communication snafus every way I turn. :(

Thanks for the info Ray. However I must add as you would know that it is a bit more complex than that and as we know things like MC, 6th and 2nd house, their rulers and aspects, nodes, maybe even P Fortune might have an impact.

I notice also that teaching is not in Aqu and that I think in some ways is one of the signature professions for Aqu (but also with Sag). Even a human rights lawyer for Aqu.

I was on a path to being a scientist with my Aqu sun; something happened when I was a young teenager and I developed a real love for science; but it was even there before I was a teen. Now due to a whim, I'm heading in another direction. Must be that ura/nep conj my natal sun in '97. But I have Jup conj asc, my ruler of 2nd (venus) in 9th and sag etc; ruler of 6th - virgo with merc in 10 conj my sun plus 3rd ruled by Gem and with mars in it. Libran moon etc

Hey 23 feel free to add to the list. I am trying to gather as much information on Career indications as I can. Learn a technique to bring it all together. To be able to find the best Career to suit a person. Career indications in chart. I know you can never be specific, but to have a general idea of the career would be good.

Freedom - Again like others I get law and teaching for you, both Sag professions.

Law - sag sun, MC - Libra, plus all that stuff in 1st house, which you could display when advocating. 6th house cusp Gem with jupiter.
plus researching - 8th house pluto/ura, merc in 12th - thinking through secrets.

Teaching - sag sun, plus all the 6th house stuff and 1st house would make you a great communicator and relay concepts to others.

All the squares to your mercury would in some ways make you an even more passionate communicator.

Thanks Ray :)
I'll add:

Aries - anything to do with strategy and fighting, developing - army and other defence forces, business, advocate for a cause. I think even engineering.

Tau - sensual professions, even things like fashion, artist, beauty professions. I can see them making things like body creams!

Gem - maybe even comedian, even though you have entertainer down. More of a witty comedian rather than humourous comedian (that is sag).

Cancer - how about an interior decorator. Anything to do with the home and water as you have there.

Leo - entertainer, anything dramatic/bold/loud, any position to do with power and royalty as well.

Virgo - accountant, lawyer, anything that requires detail and is mundane

Sco - any type of scientist really that requires research, researcher, medicine, pharmacy, water related professions

Sag - teaching, student, lawyer, funny comedian, sportsperson, archer! stunt person and any other daredevil stuff, traveller and travel industries

Cap - I wouldn't say Cap is judge, that is more of a sag/libra thing or law either (thats more libra, gem, sag); any of the earth sciences (eg physics, chemistry), engineering, business (own and corporate), govt

Aqu - teaching, but not psychiatry (thats more pisces/sco), any science for the sake of science, electrician, human rights and anything fighting for a cause related to the collective consciousness, anything to with airports and air travel. Hence my obsession with airports and birds :). Actor as Aqu are the best mimics in the chart.

Pisces - arts, pharm (for the drugs but sco for the science), sea-related professions, prisons, hospitals, dealing with the downtrodden/underdog in society

Oh and don't forget

Astrologer - Aquarius
and anything to do with animals - Sag.
Analyser - Virgo
Spiritual matter, eg priesthood - Pisces or Sag (take note Freedomlover ;)

Mucho gracias, 23! (Did I spell that right;))

That's funny that you should say that! I have been told all my life that I missed my calling, that I should have been a lawyer! Actually, I grew up in and around the county courthouse, surrounded by judges and lawyers. My mother was the court reporter for 31 years. However, I have had zero desire to ever get into law. Hmmm.... Although I was a court advocate at a domestic violence shelter for a few months, and I sort of enjoyed that. I do have a strong desire to see justice done.

As to teaching, I have had a desire to teach, but definitely not in the traditional sense, as in the school system. I have been told I would be a good Sunday school teacher, preacher type of thing.... but again, not in the traditional sense. (Is this my Aquarius moon talking;))

I have heard it said that what you truly desire will be incorporated into your calling somehow. Hmmm..... Well, if that is the case, these are the things I have a desire to do.......(in no particular order)

(1) Teach spiritual truth, especially those in prison, literally or figuratively
(2) Holistic healing
(3) Travel (PASSIONATE about this, but never been out of the country.:()
(4) Stand-up/sketch comedy
(5) Writing
(6) interest in the film industry
(7) songwriter/musician
(8) one of those psychics that family members of missing person and murder victims go to for help in solving the crime
(9) I absolutely love astrology, tarot cards, numerology,Kabbalah, etc.
(10) I absolutely love animals, concerned about animal rights, am a vegetarian, etc.
(11) When I was a child, I saw myself in a "peace corp" type thing feeding the multitudes of hungry children in Africa, etc.

SO! Where would you find all THAT in my chart. LOL :D

The only problem is that most of what I WANT to do involves underdeveloped talents. I can be very funny, I have some musical talent, and can be pretty psychic at times. I know that I am a good communicator, but I have a TERRIBLE time getting it out, more so in speaking than writing, but still a problem. (All of those mercury squares?)

Well there you go! Undeveloped talents can still be devloped though or maybe are they latent talents (not used)?

(1)/(2) Holistic teaching - as a I said up there, anything to do with spirituality is a Sag trait + your sun is in the 11th house. (and can be Pisces) and you Pisces planet (saturn + asteroid chiron) in your chart and they are sitting in the 3rd - communications. Chiron is also little Jupiter and Saturn is the fatherfigure, so you get that passion from there as well. Saturn might be pushing you in such a field. Teaching in general is also probably dictated too by your Aq moon, which is also trining your North Node. Jup trine MC too. Plus pretty much unaspected Jupiter.

(3) Travel - straight out Sag stuff. Plus also short trips - Gem this rules your 6th and contains Jup, Sag's ruler. So maybe short trips and even long trips when it comes to esp your place of service. Travel to secret places too - 12th house cusp is sag. Plus pretty much unaspected Jupiter.

(4) Comedy - again Sag thing. Humour is ruled by Sag. Plus again 6th house cusp Gem with Jupiter - operates in your place of service. Wittiness will come from your 6th house as Gem rules it. North Node in Gem/5th - love of being witty and in an entertaining way. Plus pretty much unaspected Jupiter.

(5) Writing - ruled by 3rd house which its cusp sits on pisces - maybe you are a keen romantic/emotional/emotive writer than straight out writer. Also having Mercury retro is very good. In the 12th means you can cut through or see secrets. With it in Sag, might not be the best place but again, could point to writing about larger concepts and law etc. Might be an MC in libra too, could point to beauty. Plus also merc aspects must have an impact.

(6) Film - thats a good one. I'm not sure what film would be ruled by, technology itself of film - prob Aqu but otherwise something like leo as it about performance. I can only say it must have something to do with 8th house cusp on leo - your desire to get to know it deeper/penetration and know everything about it. Something you might get obsessive about. Again all the arts stuff in Pisces and Libra MC would have an impact re artistic side of film.

(7) Songwriting/musician - same as writing, same qualities, maybe chiron in pisces + libra MC. Tau also rules your 5th house, so your creativity has a musical lean to it.

(8) mercury in 12th/retro - able to unlock secrets, plus I'm sure the piscean stuff could have an impact. 3rd house, house of communication on pisces - so communicating with the other worldly. 12th house cusp ruled by Sag- some level of spirituality. Again, I'm sure those sqaures to Merc must have some sort of impact.

(9) Astrology- prob Aqu moon; 12th house ruled by Sag which is interested in philosophy and indirectly links in. Anything do with the 8th house, but I can't see how it links with you. Maybe 3rd house as well - other worldly stuff.

(10) Animals - Sag

(11) Peace corp - Aqu moon - collective emotions, Libra MC -peace

WOW!!!!!!,23!!!!!

That's amazing that you were able to tie all that together! Maybe it's not so far-fetched, although I don't see how they all would fit together. But you left out the psychic/crime solver. (winks) I'm supposing that would be 8th/12th house stuff? Also, you frequently mentioned the "pretty much unaspected Jupiter". Why is it significant that it is unaspected?

Thanks bushels!

Sorry, stuff under no. 8 was the psychic

Plus for psychic abilities, I imagine looking at nep might reveal something. It being in 10th house and in sco indicates a professional penetration of accessing information. Plus nep is trine chiron that is in your third, so you are communicating with others and dealing with their hurts. You can dissolve through hurt.

Jupiter unaspected makes it an all the more powerful and acts on its own in purity. You try maybe over-philosophise or engage too much in Jovial/Sag type activities. To remedy this, look at where your jupiter is, it is in the 6th and Gem - maybe you should start committing these jovial powers to work and looking at "smaller" things, ie in a Gem way. Kind of says to me comedy :)

Taurus

farmer, landscape gardener, construction worker, carpenter, forest ranger, home help, domestic worker, cook, stockbroker, accountant, financial adviser, architect, hotelier, bank manager, musician, singer.

Virgo

secretary, filing clerk, nurse, welfare officer, cartographer, architect, estimator, banker, accountant, domestic help, writer, draughtsman or draughtswoman, computer operator, alternative therapist, nutritionist.

Libra

florist, librarian, fashion model, fashion designer, publisher, journalist, artist, air steward, musician, receptionist, beauty consultant, hair dresser, judge, lawyer, arbitrator, counselor, media representative, presenter.

I have Sun in Libra and Midheaven in Taurus, I wish to become a musician/songwriter. Basically everything that has something to do with arts interests me, and I also wish to become a writer some day. I have lots of Virgo on my chart (Ascendant, Venus, Mars) which apparently explains my interest in writing, besides the obvious Sun and Mercury in Libra. I also wanted to become lawyer when I was younger, even though I'm not that interested in it anymore it's still interesting to notice that several "libran professions" appeal to me.

Your list is quite good, but I would add "writer" to Libra, as many Libra's enjoy literature and writing and it's a common profession among us. I would consider removing "librarian" from Libra and adding it to Virgo, the job is perhaps a bit too boring for Libra, but perfect for the more detail-oriented Virgo who doesn't mind routines. Also a diplomat and politician are common occupations for Libras.

I haven't figured out what job will suit me, but I think it'll be something with research. Being a Virgo with an 8th house Sun and Mercury, cusp 6 in Gemini and Midheaven in Scorpio, I'm very good at research and I love to get to the bottom of things.

I disagree with hairdresser for Libra. I'm Libra, and I hate the hairdressers. I can't even spend an hour there without getting irritated, and I almost died when I stayed for 6 hours in there!
I think it's basically the noise of the blower machines, and the hairdresser having to make small talk!

I agree with what Missa wrote about Libras and writers.
But I tend towards scorpionic occupations I think, due to 8th house moon and scorpio Jupiter.

I think saturn might be an even more telling message than signs on the cusp. I have saturn in leo in the 12th. I'm going into community development. This has a lot to do with politics. Evolutionary astrologers say that if you have saturn in the 12th you will be drawn towards politics. It's all relevant though. Some people might do work that is similar to their 6th 12th house cusp. I worked in the field of cosmetology for a while which you could tie to my moon, pluto and north node being in libra in the 2nd house. I also teach yoga which I think I tied to my second house, though I can't explain why I see a connection there. Lilllybelle

Thanks Arien,

I will still have to work out how to do it. I am not really good with computers. I suppose I will have to learn sometime. I have saved the codes to my computer.

I am going to put mine up as a link, but I don't know how to get it up on the page as such.

I have had three distinct professions and have studied. I think I would be a great example of what you can see with a chart. No cheating though as I have written on other pages what my interests are!

Arian Maverick

Virgo 2nd house with pluto - possibly some in-depth analysis, forensic business analysis
merc in 7th/pisces - throwing me off - kind of sounds like some sort of counsellor

6th house aqu with mars - can't help to think it is something advocating/passion (protests etc) and something about the community
Ura - 3rd/sco - again something penetrating and communicating and innovative - scientific research?

MC taurus - the arts, practical professions
Saturn - 1st/virgo - again sustained detail and reseach maybe

Venus - cap/5th - love of the sensual arts - maybe something like pottery - something earthy and physical.

You have quite a jumble of things there, I can't help but think that you are some sort of counsellor with investigating powers that advocates for groups.

O.K. 23 I am going to take a stab at trying to guess one of your previous professions. Do you think you could hold off on telling us what you actually have done in the past career wise for 24-48hrs, that way other people can take a shot at trying to figure out your previous careers also. Perhaps you did some type of social work in the past involving children or familys. I say that because of saturn in the 4th in cancer. I also combined that in with the sun and mercury in acquarius in the 10th to get the social part. You might deal in antiques with your satun placement and having pluto( maybe refurnishing antiques) in libra in the 6th. Mercury pops up into your work lfe a couple of times with it being in the 10th and ruling the 6th. Maybe a job that deals with craftsman ship and eye towards detail or something to do with words and communication. Lilllybelle

lillybelle, interesting! I will hold off completely until you write back to say it is ok to release info. I'll give a few clues though which might indicate what I have done: 1st and 2nd house and from there too.

O.K. 23 I went back and looked at your 1st and 2nd house. I'm going to put travel work into the mix also because of jupiter in the first and because of mercury coming up twice in your work theme. I'm not sure how to tie taurus on the second into it all. I would take a stab at something artistic. Your earth houses all have earth signs on them. That might indicate a level of groundness in your work affairs. Lilllybelle.

Arian,

For your career I think you will be pioneering in a career involving healing using alternative new advanced methods perhaps. You also have a need to probe deep below the surface and this is linked back to your career.

Changes and advancement through technology or alternative disciplines.
Career could involve Science, mass media, aeronautics (I don't even know what aeronautics is but I bet you do Arian :p ). Anything innovative or future orientated. Freedom and rights may well be a professional issue. The occult may also figure in your career pointing the way with Astrology, magic, or psychology.

With Neptune your Spirituality has to manifest itself in your public or professional life. You need to find away to express your ideals and visions. You might also excel in the arts music or painting. Or in some role that caters for the welfare of the public.

You like to lead. Give you title of presidency of anything and you will be happy. You lead by climbing the ladder, getting to the top. You need status, position and respect. You can eventually become president of most organizations to which you belong. You express yourself by being a pioneer a trendsetter with incredible energy. Your most comfortable working on your own and being independent.

You must amount to something in this world for that is the test-bed of your life. Worldly success is supposed to be yours.

Hi 23,

You read my chart instead of Arian's. But you didn't do too badly if you change all the science part indicated by Uranus and change it to Astrology, it pretty much sums up what I am interested in.

Counselling has lately had an appeal I even looked up a few sites on information for different fields of Counselling to see if anything really stood out for me.

I always get stuck with my M.C Taurus I wouldn't say I am really into the arts. My Venus in Capricorn too. I really cannot work out which creative type of work I would be in to. Maybe it does indicate a practical profession involving a career in relating. So maybe Venus in Capricorn is more about a Career in relating to others. This would make more sense to me. Thanks for helping me work that out 23.

Possibly more in the future when I have built my confidence up advocating for groups could possibly be involved.

P.S I have done other work involving my Mars in the 6th if anyone would like to guess what it could have involved, focus more on the Mars and what type of environment I have worked in. Who was I mostly working with.

Well 23, I was hoping a few more people would try to figure your career path out, that way it wouldn't be so glaringly obvious when my guesses were all wrong. Well it's been 24 hours, are you ready to share your career info? Lilllybelle

I am, like Arian Maverick, a vocational virgin. I'm still figuring out what my career path will be. Here is my chart, please tell me what's the right thing for me.

2nd house cusp - aqu
6th house cusp - gem
MC - sco

2nd house ruler Ura in 1st house cap, widely conj with asc/nep, tri sun, sex MC
Merc (6th) in 8th house virg, trine mars/saturn,
Pluto (MC) in 10th house sco, conj moon, sq venus
Mars (MC) in 5th house tau, tri merc, sq pluto, sq sun
Sun in virgo

Have abstract values and make money through abstract means with the use of personality (eccentricity; in 1st house) and maybe in spiritual way (conj neptuen). You will be of service or the service of your work will involve communication and intellect. Its ruler mercury sits in the 8th and in virgo - revealing information through investigation and penetration (interest in deeper things life). Will communicate with much passion and steadfastness (mars/saturn trine). The way you are directing your life/future or where you should be directing it to is scorpio, the need to be emotionally one with other and penetrate matters deeply. Ruler pluto in 10th - display of power and penetration and in a very emotional way (conj merc); these will be displayed on the sleeve. Mars the other ruler of Sco sits in 5th tau - love of performance in a sensual, practical and artistic way but in a passionate way (mars in 5th)

I think maybe you should consider investigative journalism or anything to do with communication. You could also maybe an advocate or a performer of some sort with such information, eg a tv presenter of a journalist bent. Could be maybe even a teacher in science or something scientific - eg psychology or anything scorpionic and requires communication (eg pharmacy, med) etc

23, I was pretty off in my take of your chart, but it was a fun experiment. I enjoyed doing it. I like how you pointed out venus being unaspected, which in the future I'll take to mean that I can possibly read a planet in a simplier fashion when it is unaspected. I was right on thinking that mercury played in heavily in your work chart, but I looked at mercury the wrong way. I got sort of close with the social work involving familys and children. I think that is close to your current line of work. I was thinking more along the line of social worker, day care worker or some type of child/family activist. I think I learned more from actively trying to figure your chart out, than from any other astrological learning technique that I've applied lately. Thanks a lot! Lilllybelle

Mary,

You said:
Any way I think considering the Sun sign for possible interest is very limited. And should be taken into account only if placed in a prominet place within the Vocational Profile...
My mother has Moon, Sun and Asc in Gemini and she does not apply to any of the occupations detailed in your Gemini, Sun sign profile.
Astrology is not that simple.

As you most likely know, just because people HAVE the skills that would help them out in a certain career, it does not mean that they ARE in that career. However, they could consider using these skills as "jumping off place" if they decide they want to change careers at some time in the future. With your mother's strong energy in Gemini (thinking, also writing), she most likely has strong abilities in writing of some sort. These abilities COULD go into a career of a "journalist, writer, salesperson, etc." per Ray's list if your mother decided to use them that way.

Giving options,

Tim

I have just been reading on the net about a way to find your vocation called Midheaven extension process, it involves routing through the chart with dispositors. Here are a couple of links you might be interested in.

I was coming back to delete my last post, because I didn't know dispositors for careers had already been discussed. I have never heard of it. Oh well I will leave the articles for anyone who wants to read them :(

Hey don't do the sad face :( I found the thread and it's not so long, only a few people have tried it :) I'd like to see what you have to say about your MC disposting trail.

Don't go reading mine too critically, I was brand new!

There was an interesting thing that you pointed out though, antiques. I've never really been into antiques as in owning them; I don't really like old things unless its an heirloom. I don't tend to buy 2nd hand things either; I've always liked to be the first owner in any item. However, I do like looking at antiques and appreciate the design aspects of them.

I really haven't also taken any notice of Saturn's placement in my chart apart from its bad shape and opp to sun/merc. I haven't really thought about a home-related career by looking at saturn in my chart

Ray and Katles,

Your descriptions of careers using astrological sign are so useful I have put it on my astrological website! ;) The only addition I am making is extending these "sign" career indicators into "sign/planet/house" career indicators (since sign/planet/house are astrologically linked together).

This is located after the 6 steps: go to "Final Thoughts", click on Advanced Chart Interpretation link, at the bottom of "Advanced Chart Interpretation" click on "List of careers by sign, planet, and house".

Using your ideas,

Tim
