I'm not really sure where to post this, nor am I sure whether I really wanted to bring it up. But, does anyone else know people in their lives who believe astrology is a myth? My father is one of these people, though he doesn't really like to get involved, but I still feel intimidated to bring it up in his presence.

I don't particularly want to make this only about my father. I don't actually blame him for not believing in it, at face value astrology sounds kind of weird, but he refuses to even try to learn about it.

For me the idea of not believing in astrology is kind of like not believing in gravity (except astrology actually has scientific proof), and I was wondering what all of you thought about people who are skeptical of astrology, and how you approach people who think it's stupid. I have no actual proof against my father, I'm not experienced enough to read his chart, but he's the most introverted Leo I've ever seen, and that's proof enough for him, lol.

P.S. For the sake of my father's dignity, he's a really great person and very intelligent. I don't mean to make him sound closed-minded on this thread because of his unbelief in astrology, he's actually very open-minded. He simply doesn't think the powers of the universe are that close a hand, nor are we able to comprehend them if we tried.

Everyone does not see the same. How many can see 21 in it?

Everyone does not believe in Astrology or Palmistry. People see differently - this is just an example.

You don't have to justify that your father was really great person and very intelligent.

I understand what you mean, dhundhun, but I don't know if astrology is simply a mental phenomenon. No one really knows what astrology is, but I doubt astrological skeptics just see things differently, well, they do in a way, but it's just something that they choose not to get involved with rather than an actual mental blockage...

ah i love the comment about gravity lol yes i agree! how can you NOT believe in it but most people dont...no one ive met in my entire adult life believes. i think thats why i feel such a connection to the forum. astrology is so important to me, for obvious reasons, yet most of the population probably thinks im a loony for following it. if i even mention a planet or a simple transit all ears go deaf. no one cares. oh well. :sideways:

I have only two close friends, and large number of people arround me but do not consider friends,

No one believe in astrology,

I know the urge and the importance to talk about something you are very interested in specially with your closed friends...

But to talk with my friends about astrology
1. I have to teach them so that they can understand me.
2. every one is different And I can't ingress a belief system in a human brain that easy so....

I can't talk about astrology with any one, I talk about things we all share interest on.

It is not a problem for me ... may be my scorpio ascendant helps but i admit that i will be lucky if i found someone i know who is interested in astrology.

It is a mater of self control.

people who do not believe in something always think that the one who believe in it is weired...

spesially if he/she can not control him/her self from talking about the subject.

Most people I know politely smile at me when Astrology is brought up. Over time when things would happen as I predicted, there was a tolerance but still polite smiles. One of my dearest friends and I worked on a campaign and it was time for the candidate to speak and she pointed to her watch hysterically, because it was 4 minutes too soon... I had him set to speak when the lord of the hour was Jupiter. So between us we made a ruckus and delayed his speaking for 5 minutes. Funny Scorpio friend still says she doesn't believe in Astrology even after that and raking in the contributions. My own family tolerates me, and my sister considers me her personal Horariest. My kids have grown up with it and the subject is quite normal. I did feel I was still lacking someone to share enthusiasm with as new things were discovered and new techniques applied.... Then came Messenger!! I am connected to a dozen Astrologers I call friends that I can talk to anytime 24/7. In ways I feel closer to them than I do a real flesh and blood friend in front of me, because even though it is over the internet or over the telephone, they speak my language.
