House cycli is not totally unused or unknown in western astrology, above or below the horizon, east and west are used by some and taken into consideration when interpreting the chart. However in the WvA school in Holland it has been taken a step further and I have found it helpful in seeing strong ereas in the charts.

The foundation of the system is that it takes houses that cover an specific area to form a cycli with them. Now you'll have to be patient with me seeing that it is impossible for me to translate some things. I will give a short explanation and perhaps others will be able to boil it down to one word. I will give all cycli I use. You can decide for yourself their usefulness. Contacts are aspects, lords, you know the drill.

Fire I/V/IX/
Earth II/VI/X
Air III/VII/XI
Water IV/VIII/XII

Angular I/IV/VII/X
Succedent II/V/VIII/XI
Cadent III/VI/IX/XII

Pioneer I/II/III/IV (one that wishes to renew things)
Preserver V/VI/VII/VIII (one that wishes to keep things as they are)
Circulator IX/X/XI/XII (one that wishes to spread things)

Male I/III/V/VII/IX/XI
Female II/IV/VI/VIII/X/XII
(also negative and positive)

East I/II/III/X/XI/XII
West IV/V/VI/VII/VIII/IX

Under Horizon I/II/III/IV/V/VI
Above Horizon VII/VIII/IX/X/XI/XII

Work I/II/VI/X
Education & Thought I/III/VI/IX/XII
Relationships I/II/V/VII/VIII/XI

Personal XII/I/II/III (with self)
Company IV/V/VI/VII (with others)
Public VIII/IX/X/XI (in the public)

Quadrant 1 I/II/III
Quadrant 2 IV/V/VI
Quadrant 3 VII/VIII/IX
Quadrant 4 X/XI/XII

Subconscious I/II/III/IV
Conscious V/VI/VII/VIII
Unconscious IX/X/XI/XII (can't find the right word for this one in Dutch it is Boven Bewust. Literally translated that would mean Above Conscious).

As you can see some are already in use, others are not. The method is to find the strongest aspect withing the cycle and to see what type of contact there is between the houses. To explain further, some children do poorly in public school, yet later in life they reach great highs in advanced education. Some people are great with friends, but can't hold on to a relationship. For this the cycle is used.

If you see any mistakes please let me know so that I can correct them

Would 'higher' or 'supreme' consciousness fit?

I've sort of used some of these, with no clue what it was called or if I was crazy. Haha. There is an excellent article at Skyscript here (http://www.skyscript.co.uk/cabal.html) about the 1-5-9, 2-6-10, 3-7-11, and 4-12-8 relationships, by Morin. Thanks for the info, CC.

I'm not sure, reading on concious states, one might think "unconcious" might fit, like sleeping. Dreaming is above concious, so I suppose "higher" or "supreme" might fit. The style that might fit more and used in the WvA like "das Es," "das Ich," and "das Über-Ich". Thanks for thinking along.

Is that like the id, ego, and superego in Freudian thought?

Yes it is. Alot of the WvA works with that type of thought, as do other astrology schools in Europe. However I have taken out the good and left the rest, I'm not that keen on trans Pluto hypothetical planets of both the WvA and the Uranian school. However that is not to say there aren't any planets after Pluto, they just haven't found them yet. The psychology of the hypothical planets are interesting enough, but I'm not one for "made to fit" astrology.
