The APC house system short for Ascendant Parallel Circle used by the Dutch School of Ram is a very unique house system. In most if not all house systems the opposite house is as large as its counterpart. That is to say, the 11th house is a big as the 5th house. In this system each house covers it’s own area. The 11th and 5th are not equal in size. This creates an interesting situation when it comes to the placement of our planets. I suggest you give it a try and see where your planets land up in this system. Personally I’m all for such a system and have used it for years. It’s reasonable to assume that if each house is unique, it should also be unique in its size. This system opens up a whole new world when it comes to placement and interpretation. The system uses many interesting things like the spiderweb, and different house cycles, like the education cycle see page 28 on this link http://www.wva-astrologie.nl/pdf/ura962.pdf (http://www.wva-astrologie.nl/pdf/ura962.pdf). If you have any questions let me know, as far as I know the only place where this system is used is in Holland, and the calculation method is not to be found in any other program. The software is still to be had for any who might find this interesting and wish to pursue this unique system. If you need the address let me know.

Hello CosmicCradle!
Welcome to the site, goede middag!
Wow, another system. I personally find people here are open to debate on the house system issue, and are generally very respectful about different choices. I'm personally a fan of three in particular, with an interest in both the ancient and the modern.
That link you gave showing the how and why of the system was terrifying...does anyone else have trouble understanding the astronomy of it? That's what I get for over-specializing in business in school; I'm a scientific dunce now...lol. I can't understand that Earth diagram. But I'll stick to words for now.
Can you tell me is it a time or space-based system etc.? Anything explained in
words I can absorb.
Thanks and enjoy the site!

It is explained on page 23 and 24 in the attatchment. The attatchment is PDF. It is the system used by Haly Abenragel Arabic atrologer in see link..

5.3 Haly Abenragel
SPHERICAL HOUSE SYSTEMS
In his "Eight Books on Astrology", Haly Abenragel (about 1050) describes
an extension of the method of Alcabitius: Like Alcabitius, he divides the
quadrants formed by Meridian and Horizon on the parallel circle of the Ascendant
into twelve pieces. But the transfer of the division points to the Ecliptic is a_orded
by the uniquely de_ned position circles passing through the division points.
Although even Regiomontanus mentions Abenragel as using position circles

Interesting-a contemporary application of a modified Alcabitius! Alcabitius was the dominant system throughout the era of "Arabic" astrology, and only faded when Placidus began to be popularized. An old Turkish astrology teacher of mine back in the 1970's, Pasha, was an Alcabitius "fanatic", dismissing modern methods like Koch, and deriding Placidus and Regiomantus as "upstarts":w00t:!!
(for me, the often vexed question of which house system to use-if any!-ended about 10 years ago when I found the Whole Sign method, which I have used ever since-and love it:tongue:!!)

Interesting how we are willing to use some things from ancient astrology and regartd other as useless or outdated. May I ask your opinion seeing you use the Whole Sign method how you feel about my opinion that seeing every part of the chart is unique why do we accept equal houses? Should not the houses also express their uniqueness in their size?

I believe there is a great deal of validity in your opinion re: uniqueness of every part of the chart, and about the potential value of considering various sized houses in making certain delineative considerations. Historically in Western astrology 45 degree houses were sometimes used (particularly in decumbiture considerations)
My application of Whole Sign is my own personal way of approaching the difficult question of houses and chart construction. For me, it has solved all the questions and confusions which sometimes arose in my previous (20+ year) use of Placidus; but that's just me, and what works best for me. I respect all of the variations used-in expert hands-for chart construction. By the way, Thierens (mentioned in your extract from the spherical house article), one of the founders of Dutch astrology, I consider a major authority on the more universal aspects of the astrological art (I recommend his books highly-several are in English, although nowdays somewhat difficult to obtain)

Thankyou Farr, one rarely hears anything about the Dutch astrology, or better said the Dutch school, there are many things that I have learned using the APC system from the WvA here. It has given me a totally different look towards astrology. And I'm very fond of the house cycle system they use to better understand someone.

I've found the tables for Alchabitius, however they are not at all like APC.
http://www.academyofastrology.org/resources/Alchabitius.pdf
Although the APC may have it's origin from there, that's where it stops. The Alchabitius house system also mirrors, the APC system doesn't. It uses the "ware plaats" giving each cusp a unique place, save for the angular cusps.
