I haven't read this link yet, but plan to do so. http://www.skyscript.co.uk/love.html. It got me to wonder the age-old question, how do you identify a great lover for you from a natal? If there is potential with a new romance, wouldn't it be great to know? Etc.,? I was involved with a man that had Mars in Libra, at 28degrees natally - the same as my placement exactly. We had extreme chemistry. Could this be a partial explanation? Can you pinpoint chemistry in synastries exactly?

Also, what do you think identifies a great lover? Mars? Venus? Specifically, what degrees/factors/placements? Thanks!

I'm sorry, but that link doesn't work. Please check it. [edit: Nevermind! Mod fixed it :D ]

I have no certain idea what would make a good lover. I think reciprocity is key, perhaps. Granted you're talking to a Gem-Pis who has nothing but complete failure and hreatbreak in her romantic life. I consider myself a good lover, though, as vain as that sounds. I'm very generous and affectation, attentive to what a guy wants and needs. I don't judge a guy or expect him to ive up to my expectations--rather I want to explore who he is an individual in a romantic and sexual way, and let our shared romantic.sexual expeirnce be defined by who we are as individuals.

The problem for me is I do all the giving and get nothing in return. I have been deeply unhappy in mylove life because of this, despite all my optimism that one day I'll find a guy who is truly compatible with me. So that's why reciprocity I think is important. I can't say any of the men I've been with were great lovers precisely because they couldn't respond to me or reciprocate with me.

Astrology, reciprocity is indicated in synastry, usually through positive moon and Venus aspects with other personal planets. "Double whammies" and elemental/modal affinities too, I think indicate a deep reciprocity between two people.

I think this is what I was trying to express. Of course it is synasty and reciprocity - so what blends would best bring about a great connection? Thanks for helping me clarify.

Interesting article--in a different vein I was talking about. I'll have to look at it more deeply, but she says that "great lovers" (and in her study these were men) had Jupiter/5th cusp contacts of some kind. She also makes a distinction that thes men in her study were thought to be great lovers because of the number of sexual partners they have had, but not necessarily because of the quality of their sexual performance.

One of these Jupiter/5th cusp contact that she says has to do with being a great lover is Jupiter forming a major natal aspect with the 5th cusp. Well I don't have a MAJOR aspect. Moreover, I'm a woman, so I don't know how these research could relate to me (if she says anything about this, I haven't read that far yet!) But I said I think myself a fairly GOOD lover, and by that I mean, I am skilled, responsive and capable of creating a highly erotic and satisfying experience for a guy. Interestingly, I do see a good sexual experience as something you create, somewhere between playtime and art. And I think sex should be a joyful expression. :D And curiously, I have my natal Jupiter (in my 3rd house) QUINTILE my 5th house (less than 2 degree orb), and quintiles are associated with joyfulness and creativity. So maybe there's something to this Jupiter/5th cusp things.

It seems the article is more focused on people who are perceived as great lovers due to how many partners they've had. However, sex is such an individual thing, for one to have a ""great" sexual experience, I think reciprocity is needed, regardless to have "good" either person is at performing sexually.

synastry is a complex business of comparing two people's chart, but you are definately on the right track, venus and mars, perhaps throw in pluto or dreamy neptune, or exciting uranus --- you did say 'lover' not marriage material :)

There are plenty of great thread on here about relationships, try using the advanced search feature, using keywords like google....

Hey Sag,

I might look at this and think to myself, "ok, so what am I asking, who would be a good lover for ME, or who is that quintessential 'good lover type?'"

Those two things can be very different. For example, I have Venus in Virgo in the 8th house, square Saturn. A play-boy hunk type with all the right moves, is going to turn me off. Cassanova syonara.

just food for thought....

I do think a lot has to do with chemistry between two people. Even so, it seems Venus Mars or Venus Pluto aspects would be a good start. Venus, Mars, or Pluto in the 5th or 8th house. Scorpio personal planets and overtones as they are in general considered to be very sexual people. Personally, I have found that men with a combination of a lot of Aries and Pisces personal planets in their natal charts are playboys, promiscuous, like one night stands, eternal bachelors, etc, so if the constitutes a good lover….

Yes good points, synastry is most important. I've read, according to the Magi society, Juno is considered a sexual planet, so maybe Juno in aspect to Mars for a guy, Venus for a woman. Juno conjunct Chiron? Piscean Sun, perhaps the ideal fantasy :whistling: Mars trine Pluto, very sexual, maybe with some Neptune there - fantasy!?

Synastry wise, Mars/Venus, Venus/Pluto, Mars/Pluto, Sun/Pluto suggests passion.

Depends on what you mean by a great lover, if its sexual intensity I would go for the Pluto aspects, For sexual side in men yes the Mars planets, also 5th house planets. I find Pisces Sun men are sexual but they are also the casanova types more player than intense lover. Natally Scorpio men, Gemini, Sagittarius, Aries for intensity. The best guys Aries or Scorpio very intense in bed  lol....

Taurus is highly sexed, romantic and joint second place with Aries after scorpio. So if you like cuddles, romance being wined and dined :) ----
