Hi everyone! :D I'm new to this board. I didn't know where else I could post this question so I decided, why not start here.
Although I don't suffer from anger management issues, a lot of people (close friends, family members, acquaintances and the like) have commented that when I do get angry, I'm scary to behold and have known to create quite a storm. Strangers and friends (not-so-close-friends) get the impression from me that I'm aloof, a loner, reserved and silent (but not shy). The very same friends, strangers and acquaintances usually are very shocked to see a totally different side to me when I'm enraged. I don't get angry immediately on issues, unlike many of the very same friends, strangers and acquaintances I'm referring to. It's not that the anger isn't there. It's definitely there, but it takes a long time to build up before I really feel it justified to let it all out. It takes some time for people to really get to me/ get on my nerves. The kind of issues that get to me are anyone who tries to dominate me/treat me like a doormat or rude, uncouth, vulgar, aggressive, violent, verbally/physically abusive behavior, either towards me or someone I love or care about (and in some cases even towards a stranger). Although I have never used physical violence when I'm angry, people still get very intimidated by me/shocked by my behavior when I finally let it loose. I always use words to get my point across (to the person who is trying to get to me) and never use physical violence. People have told me that when I'm enraged I come across as VERY cold and calculating, but bold and dangerous none-the-less. At times I have surprised my own self. Sometimes when I look back at some of the incidents, I'm surprised by my own behavior and wonder about what bought on the sudden spurt of courage/boldness during such situations for someone as introverted as me.
Anyway, my question was: I have read a lot about how Mars in Aries or Scorpio is the best mars-placement in a birth chart. I've come across a lot of astrology articles which praise these placements. And pretty much every astrology book and article I have ever read criticizes the Mars in Libra placement, as it is considered to be a very weak Mars. The reason why this surprises me, is because I have a Mars in Libra.
In case someone wants to have a look at my birth chart, I've given below the details of each planet and the houses and signs they fall in:
Ascendant-Capricorn-12 degrees
Sun-10th house-Libra-27 degrees
Moon-7th house-Cancer-25 degrees
Mercury-9th house-Libra-14 degrees
Mars-9th house-Libra-20 degrees
Venus-11th house-Sagittarius-14 degrees
Jupiter-6th house-Cancer-10 degrees
Saturn-12th house-Capricorn-08 degrees
North Node-2nd house-Aquarius-23 degrees
I
don't see nothing strange here..
The strong never shows his strength loud..Really strong people are the quietest, and they act, don't shout.
If you read Lao Tze ,you will see that the strong one never shows his strength in that way.
Don't worry I think it's typical reaction of Mars in Li plus conjuct Sun.
Does it make 90square with Uranus?
And are you man or woman??
Mars in Libra can be very calculating yes :)

I'm actually the same way. Usually very quiet and reserved, but I get incredibly angry very quickly and use really vulgar language to get my anger across.
I've noticed that we have a similarity in our charts. We both have Moon in Cancer, in the 7th House. I know that a lot of people with Cancer Moons are incredibly moody and can get angered easily, so maybe that's the problem?
My Mars is in Aquarius, by the way, so we both have our Mars in an Air sign. Don't know if that has any bearing or not.

Hi Yeshwanthi,
I think Mars is simply put action. Yes, anger finds an outlet through Mars & the aspects it receives.
You referred to reading mars in scorp & aries being dignified/praised because acc to traditional astro these placements suggest that the keywords associated with Mars(incl anger) find an easier outlet when placed in these signs.
Nonetheless, many times I believe the surprise factor takes over when people expecting ur ascendant(cappy) colouring ur personality with a tinge of reserve are shocked when mars kicks in.
Now Mars in Libra is not at ease in the sense the sign Libra is about peace & harmony & maintaining balance & Mars is action & attack. So u see mars in Libra uses the weapons of words/irony/biting sarcasm(air) whereas a Mars in Aries would resort to rash/hot words/swearing and throwing tantrums etc, a Mars in scorp would plan revenge & strategise and obsess etc
I notice you have Sun conjunct Mars/Mercury. That should indicate a sharp mind that uses words to get even. You see the Sun joins smoothly with the energies of Mars, so u see You can & do get angry & it IS a sight to behold, no matter which sign mars is placed.
Just my thoughts, I too am a beginner, BTW

HI
I have mars in libra in 12 th house. I do generally try and keep the peace. the mediator in families/frienships etc. but I too have a temper which surprises those I get close to cos it comes unexpectedly!!!
I find that I do feel for people and often can express anger for disadvantaged quicker than for myself.
then a 12th house placement is different to yours.

Mars in Libra have a particular problem: It'll tend to be the strongest against the weakest , and the weakest against the strongest , it has the tendency of abusing and be abused around the life of the native.

Hi,Caro would you like to post your chart so I can see what makes you stand for others?
As I don't think it's only Mars in Libra,I' m not sure it's only Mars in Li..
It could be that you have for example Virgo(cause they can be brave too) and /or Sag..
Let me see that chart of yours(Where is your Moon??). :pouty::pouty:

tanamarios, the words abusing and abused are a bit strong (at least to my ears). Could you please explain what you mean?
Por favor...
And I guess I should add that I don't agree with it, in whatever style of abuse you are referring to.
sure no problem. Mars in Libra have the particular thing that they use force to relate to others. They attract ill-tempered partners which provokes in the native a sense of weakness , also by the contrary , they also attracts people with thin emotional "skin" ,provoking that the native acts very forcefully to these partners. I think the words "abusing" or "abused" sounds quite harsh , but in extremes cases ("bad"aspects) it could happen.

I have read Lao Tze, and yeah, well I guess it's more a case of 'empty vessels make more noise'. I'm a woman Choe
Tora: I'm sorry I don't think we know each other, but why ask?
Scorpio86: Yes, moodiness is a major part of my character since I was young. And I agree that a lot of the times the anger issues have something to do with my moodiness. Although the moodiness is only something that my family members are aware of and not friends, acquaintances and close friends. Its because family members are more likely to forgive you for your moodiness, whereas friends are not so forgiving. I guess I've ended up taking my family members for granted. I agree its a major flaw in me, but I've managed to have a better control of it over the past few years. I guess its more a case of old habits dying hard. Mars in any air sign is usually (in traditional astrology) considered weak and criticized a lot (especially the Mars in Libra position that gets a lot of flak)
Caro: I have to admit, the houses do color a person's sign and the person's planet. The reason I say this is because, I've been studying theology, astrology, philosophy, religion, and spirituality since I was 11 years old. Doing research, googling, reading and studying such topics was one of my hobbies or interests since I was 11. Considering the fact that I have a Mercury and Mars in the 9th house (which is considered as the house of religion, philosophy and higher thinking), plus a Venus in Sagittarius, I guess it did contribute to my interest and passion for such topics since I was young.

Hi yeshwanthi.v,
I also have Mars in Libra and can relate to what you describe. I think it is very Mars-in-Libra-like to get infuriated by rudeness, injustice, violence and other things that are not Libran.
As for strong reactions, Mars is still Mars, wherever it is, especially if it is close to Sun like in your case. Does it rule your 3rd house? Then here is another explanation why you sometimes communicate the way you do.
Here is an interesting article about planets in fall or detriment:

I don't agree that Mars is Libra is bad. It is different. Pure Marcian energy - self-centered, aggressive, proactive - is difficult to express through cooperative, relationship-building, harmony-seeking Libra. But is it bad if you can get your point across and keep other happy?

As an owner of Mars in Libra, I must disagree. No, I don't use force relating to others (I wish I could, though). I am actually very nice, diplomatic and respect boundaries. I looked at others with more favorable Mars placements use their force and tried it myself. Never worked. It is just not me, I don't know how to deal with it and suffer myself.
I do attract ill-tempered partners, but not to be weak. I like these men because of the challenge to withstand their intense personalities, I enjoy the thrill. Call it power struggle, if you want. My Mars is in tight conjunction with Pluto, so that may explain it. Actually, feeling weak is never attractive.
As for abusing the weak, no. I know weaknesses others have, but using them is just not fair. At least consciously, I don't do it.

I think you just beautifully and articulately nailed it!:D
I guess the reason I originally posted this question greentwinkle, was because I was wondering if the preponderance of cardinal signs in my chart had something to do with it, as in, providing me the courage to take action on issues that catch my attention immediately, hence I tend to come off as intimidating and bold to the people around me? Because the two keywords that are always used to describe cardinal signs (in traditional and modern astrology), is initiative and forceful. Cardinal signs are known for being extremely self-motivated.
Or could it be the fact that I have so many squares and oppositions in my chart that causes me to give off a dangerous-vibe, and come on very strongly to the people around me? I've read somewhere once that having many squares in a person's chart is equivalent to having a loaded gun placed on your sofa or chair. Just because its not going off at the moment, does not mean it is not dangerous.
Or could it be the fact that both my Mars and Mercury are in the 9th house (which is a fire-element house, ruled by Sagittarius) that colors my actions, thus adding a dash of boldness, courage or daring?
Or maybe, as you suggested, its the conjunction between the Sun and Mars (and Mercury as well) that provides me the sudden spurt of courage during negative situations that call for it. I guess, your explanation is the most likely one.
Or maybe, its all of the above!
Thanks Chloe - I attach it now for you. I think helping others can help ease the frustration of a 12th house planet. (or indeed any 12th house placing it is found a lot in those who do public service)
I have been a member of greenpeace, now support amnesty international.
Im definitely a champion of the underdog.
yeswanthi - great placing for mars in 9th house but dont over do it!!! I have jupiter in cancer in 9th I think it is the highlight of my chart.
tanamarios/Haizea - I must admit I was a bit taken aback myself and felt there was a misinterpretation there and directness by your post. HOwever my first boyfriend was definitely a bully though he had mars in scorpio and a sun in pisces with pisces moon. But Ive learnt since then.
I think all mars placing have good and bad points.

Can you post a visual chart please. It is difficult to read a lot of data. Astrodienst will do one for free.
I have also Mars in Libra and tend to get angry about injustice and lack of morality and fairness. I can be verbally aggressive but never physically. Is that the conjunction with Neptune????
Mars in Libra very often like to flirt and show interest in a partner this way. They can use endearments whilst expressing anger even. I dont see this aspect as calculating unless it has a connection to Mercury or the 3rd house or again Saturn.
Mars in Libra gives grace of movement and a love of dance and because it is in opposite to the Mars in Aries, it is not necessarily a bad thing as Aries can be brash, reckless, cruel and selfish....Mars in Libra tends to intellectualise anger or suppress it because they want to be seen as nice, fair and equitable and are very aware of others reactions. Can give variable energy levels and overall is a peacekeeper.
It depends again on what other aspects it has.

Hey! Thanks for the links. It was useful. But I do wish that he should have made the article longer.
I've always had frequent arguments/discussions with family members and friends about sexist ideas/expectations that **** me off since I was as young as 10. Whether I caught sight of a sexist idea/expectation in a book I've read or movies I watched or songs that talk about women in demeaning terms (rap songs mainly), or mainly most sexist ideas and expectations that exist in real life itself, in the society that we live in. I've had debates, arguments and discussions about these topics and people have told me that I tend to not only come on very strong, passionate and argumentative when I'm voicing my opinions but that I also tend to notice small (but essential and important) things that most people tend to miss. And most of these small things I refer to, have either something to do with inequality and imbalance in the society at large (whether that be in a platonic/sexual/romantic relationship for whatever reason or the colors in a painting. It doesn't really make a difference to me what it is. As long as the balance/symmetry is out of place in any particular situation, so long will I be the first to point it out to the people around me) or philosophical topics.
And like you (and others) have pointed out, I think the close Sun-Mercury-Mars triple-conjunction (no matter what sign it falls under) tends to give off sudden spurts of courage to the individual during situations where it is needed or required.
Pure marcian energy working through Libra is equivalent to having an iron fist in a velvet glove. Just because the hands look pretty and delicate, clothed in a velvet glove, doesn't mean the punches are not going to feel brutal and hard. I think that is one of the strong points of Mars in Libra (that traditional astrology underestimates), in that it can really trick people and catch them of guard before those very same people realize what they've gotten themselves into.

yesh, I thought of your cardinality...that might make people see you as "capable for action".
And this:
looks like the mix Libra/Capri. Your only Fire is Venus. Lots of Air and Earth, when I think Fire and Water are much more spontaneous in their showing of any emotion and get it out as it comes, most of the time.
Much must be related to the non-expression of little anger, and waiting till it is big. I would be the same in relation to this, but my Sun is also Air...and I think that'd be related too.
But my Asc. is Fire, so when I am angry I don't think I come out so much as calculating, but as Fire. In fact, I think people would see me more explosive than I really am, as I have never really lost my mind (something I can see other people do).
Mars aspects should make us all very different too.
I think you are right Haizea. The lack of fire could be the reason I tend to come off as cold and calculating. I'm not very spontaneous, boisterous and outspoken about my feelings, something which fire signs are good at (whether those feelings are anger, sadness, or joy, it doesn't really matter. It's usually all out in the open with fire signs :D). I think people mistake my attitude to mean that I'm being a doormat or that I'm just plain dumb or lack a backbone, simply because I've been silent.
Claire19: Are you referring to me or to someone else? I'm sorry, its just that I'm confused about whether you are referring to me or to Caro?

I agree that abuse does not come into it and I have Mars in Libra too. Pluto is more abuse. Mars in Libra has a tendency to get angry about violence and wishes for peace and accord. It is the advocate for fairness and the law.

I am the same and I have Mars in Libra conjunct Neptune so am a champion of the underdog and legal rights. I think we can all be triggered by certain things and we have aspects to Mars from other planets so that may account for a temper. SOmetimes Mars in Libra can express anger with endearments and may flirt with others to get even with a partner.
eg..Darling, I am so mad at you!"
The negative side of mars in libra is lack of energy, its not a powerful energiser.
also procrastination ( I certainly weigh up everything before making a choice - with scorpio rising I dig very deep indeed)
I do like an argument/debate though - happy to see all sides!:sideways:

Jes, I know the girl who has Mars in Libra and she is exactly the same! She's quite, takes lot time to provoke her, but when she get's angry, booooy, better run. She looks scary (and hot) when she's angry. She also resolves every battle with words, usually just few. :whistling:
and it takes looong time to get to know her, usually looks very cold and calculated, but once you do get to know her, her other side is all you see... She's warm, friendly and very social.
Vulgar and rude guys are also big turn off for her and she hates when bad things are done to people (strong sense of justice) ... is it same for you? :pouty:
njmfff - you pretty much have described me.
and yes people see like that too maybe it is the unknown that people dont like. so with fiery types they know what they will get when you have a longer fuse they are not sure when you will blow!!!

heh... I know the feeling... I am no Mars in Libra, but I do have high tolerance for everything... but when I explode, you better run. Good thing is that I quickly calm myself, but still if you get near for those few moments when I explode and you are cause of my outburst...
don't know how is with you, but I can tolerate someone for years... but eventually fuse is gone and I explode. Mix in little of my unpredictability and you get the picture... Some people are just persistent in being a-holes and they need to dealt with when there's no more way to avoid them. -.-

Moon connected to Mars gives a temper if it is a challenging aspect.
I have Mars in Libra in the 8th and get very angry at injustice and
conjunct to Neptune, I can be verbally aggressive if I feel rights are being violated but not physically. I think it leads to strong sexuality in the 8th and attraction to those who are addicted and want to rescue them. I have dealt with legal matters and confidential as Mars sextiles Saturn Mercury and Pluto in the 6th of workaday world.
I think it gives a certain refinement and grace and a liking for the finer things in life and a smooth talker as a lover who has no rough edges.

Im a Sagittarius with a cancer moon, Libra ascendant conjunct mars in Libra.
My mercury is also square mars. Im not usually physical but Im easily angered and have a tendency to shout when im just talking to someone, and be very demonstrative physically in true sagittarian form. I have venus in scorpio too so I kind of noticed I have a Mars Xcorpio type of calculating mars activity maybe due to a mutual reception.

I have a 12th house libra mars
Mars is where we have conflicts, where we have to overcome hurdles in out life in order to be successful. We have to set limits and boundaries and become less distracted to be successful.
Mars in libra is about many things, its the gateway to hell if you ask me, b/c it ask you to take a look at your shadow. MArs is the shadow here, so it may be uncomfortable to recognize and identify with the infintale inside of us. Mars in Libra is unware of his basic drive but looks for it in others, thats where conflict arises. MArs in Libra is about co-op b/c you fear failure. But when the plan goes sour and your partner cant deliver, inside you are impulsed to be rude as hell, yet you compulse your self to be a nice guy. Mars in Libra is also about compulsions and the house position can tell you where this is being affected.
Also it can show that people can try and get in your way by purposely trying to get your help for their own need. Lets say your mars in libra is in the 2nd, you may co-op to get money, or people may co-op with you for their drive for money while you get none. Mine is in the 12th, my open enemies(libra mars)disguise themselves, maybe as friends. I do get disillusioned around people, losing myself and being overtaken by compulsion rather then pure heat, hate and malice. My karma keeps showing me to look to myself, that im fooling myself with people and they constantly are competitive with me b/c they see no drive in me, they always ask for something b/c they want to hear yes, they are using me. People(libra) have made me feel defetaed and scared(12th)of my impulses.
thats hwta mars in libra is about, your impulses are your dark side and you will constantly reunite with its nature externally thru relationships(libra)and they will be hell. We just have to live that life out for ourself.
Mars in Libra in the 8th may be a little easier to answer b/c the 8th house opens eyes to the shadow and the depths of it. 12th house libra mars may be disillusioned by the shadow by either identifying to much with the shadow or not at all with it.
further more, mars in libra seeks balance, peace and harmony inside of him. He looks for the balance if his impulses and their expression, his shadow and his lower mind, between the subconc. and the conc., at least my libra mars does
And we are very calculating, weighing out every last detail instead id purly acting out
So my lesson with the 12th house libra mars is to not let people and the perception decieve me into repressing myself

Libra mars does is very aware if their drive, the immediate response to the world, their impulse. But we are also aware of other people. My 12th house has cause me to be disillusioned by the fact that my nature may hurt someone's feelings, thats not realistic and i am attracting the wrong people in my life.People that use me or cause me to repress mars. And then out of nowhere he can destroy relationships with true friends.
I think the key here is to find the balance between reality and your basic drives, at least to me. B/c libra mars can get so caught up in others and how they feel and if their needs or intact with others need that they actually miss out on their needs. And i have felt anger from this. I constantly feel my mouth parting after a heat rush thru my body, but my compulsion is to be nice and quiet.
Strongest against the weakeast and weakest against the strongest?
Well, i know that strength is a matter of perception thats why you have to follow impulses, you cant always think about what if you hurt someones feelings, what about you?
Mars in aries lesson is what about others(venus det.)and what about conseqeunces for your actions(saturn fall)
Mars in Libra's lesson is what about you(mars detr,)and who you are(sun fall)maybe then we can truly take responsibility for our actions

IMO boxing and martial arts is great for strengthening Mars Libra. When you know how to fight and feel strong, it allows your impulses to be expressed more easily. IMO Mars Libra people need to build up physical strength and take some kind of martial art or boxing. You will feel more comfortable asserting yourself and also feel more comfortable reacting to someone OVERTLY attacking you. This goes great lengths (speaking from experience) And there are a number of worldclass boxers with Mars in Libra also.

My father has Mars in Libra and did some boxing. It gives balance and grace with movement and especially with one to one sports. It can give variable energy levels and a dislike of confrontation which the person may feel they need to overcome. Very interesting take and I never thought of it that way.

you mars in librians might not be livin it like it should be. Im a early librian conjunct mars and mercury with tight degrees. All that sits in my fifth house, I do get verbally aggressive , but i can tell you that us librans (not tryin to stick up with my people, will fight especially if they have the aspects i have). I was camping at a local camp spot and this kid was giving me the stink eye and we both got up about to get into it....this kid was 300+ lbs and i was weighin at the time 200lbs, he pushed me down on the rocks....cuz he had more body weight than the muscle i had but of course once we got into that ,, through pure adrenaline i flipped him over (with my friends witnessing) and layed about 4 blows on him that got him in a daze...after that we settled down and he went home.. Honest to got dont test us librans because we wont find something to fight for but if its something that we dont feel is right we will take your a** down. which i did and the kid had nothing to do or say after that incident.

Mars in Libra have a particular problem: It'll tend to be the strongest against the weakest , and the weakest against the strongest , it has the tendency of abusing and be abused around the life of the native.
Tanamarious, would you mind explaining why you think this? I disagree.

Mars in Libra have a particular problem: It'll tend to be the strongest against the weakest , and the weakest against the strongest , it has the tendency of abusing and be abused around the life of the native.I can see how this applies to the concept of balance- the libran energy could be unleashed as aggression when it needs to balance out perceived weakness in others, yet responds calmly and clear-headed- or weakly and victim-like to other's aggressive energies.
My mars in libra conjuncts the sun and midheaven in Libra, squaring jupiter in the 7th, and saturn, uranus, neptune in the 1st.
I agree with the others about Libran mars having the potential to make one compromise at all costs for the sake of harmony, and then become more and more angry when others do not live up to their high ideals of justice and eventually have an outburst. As I've gotten older I've learned I need to express my anger right away with loved ones, no matter what they think of me.
I used to be afraid of showing my aggressive side, as if it would immediately end the relationship and I'd no longer be worthy in anyone's eyes. In fact, my father's Saturn conj my midheaven, (he is a Leo with Leo rising and Pluto conj the asc), and as a kid I was absolutely overpowered by authority and aggression any time I tried to assert myself or voice my fury about any matter within the family. I learned to keep my mouth shut or be shouted into tears. My aggression was then channeled into escapist activities and into my Venus in Scorpio, with power plays in miserable friendships.
I'm slowly learning I can't identify so strongly with the ideals of Libra that I lose my sense of self and direction. Using force to ensure the balance I need in my life and relationships is counter-inutitive but absolutely essential to my sense of self esteem.

Yes we need a chart, all that data is offputting.
Mars in Libra wants to be seen as pleasant and fair and will often suppress anger for fear of disapproval. However it just goes underground and will have to be expressed somewhere and at some time. I agree that we need the whole chart.

I can add a few insights, given that I too have :mars::libra:.
I see it as a paradox. (Ha, that's something a Libran Mars would say already, sheesh....) Mars is an expressed impulse + action. Libra is an unexpressed cerebral energy withheld (for me,) surveying all the possibilities, looking for the balanced, fair and most ideal expression (if expressed at all.) It's hard to be this way because you are sometimes stuck. (I also have it at 28deg).
I agree with the person on this thread that said Mars in Libra may not be living life fully (that's quantity of experiences.) But perhaps the quality of what we choose to give our energy to is being fulfilled.

The negative side of mars in libra is lack of energy, its not a powerful energiser.
also procrastination ( I certainly weigh up everything before making a choice - with scorpio rising I dig very deep indeed)
I do like an argument/debate though - happy to see all sides!:sideways:
I agree with what you say about swinging from side to side and wanting to be fair and this can lead to indecisiveness and it does lead to lack of motivation on occasion. I love a debate and repartee with witty remarks. This really turns me on..... Sex has to be done in the right atmosphere, candles, music and flowers......Coarseness, crassness and lack of social ease is a turn off.....

I have Mars in Libra conjunct Mercury and Sun, and my cousin has Mars in Aries; When we used to fight I was better with harsh words than her, then she got desperate, crying and hit me, push me or throw me something. LOL
Oh and, yes I do attract parters who get pissed off, and offended very quickly. Very short tempered partners.
Note: My mars in libra is in the 10th house where it gets exalted.... So I consider my Mars more than quite neutral.

yeah but also also aside the mars-mercury conjunction you are also Virgo, perhaps that gives you more ammunition in the delicate art of verbal self defense... a quicksilver ,perhaps a silverbullet but that trait goes more to mercury-pluto who can actually be cruel with their words, or do stupid cruel things under exaggerative suspicions over trivial things.

Oh my! I don't know why this made me laugh so much. The Mars in Aries fighting physically with the Mars in Libra's words. It reminds me of my siblings fighting when we were young. I have Mars in Libra in 9th, trine to Moon I think. I am very witty and caustic (usually). I used to be so bossy and totally fight my sisters and poor little brother like a Mars in Aries though. I wonder why. Which leads me to.....
What is the breaking point/Is there a breaking point to cause Mars in Libra to get physical?

I have Mars in Libra and I started kickboxing a while ago and I begin to notice how that influences my WORDS. I had no idea I was passive-aggresive because I didn't feel secure physically. But the more I learn to express myself physically, the kinder I am with words and I just began not to respond to verbal attacks since they seemed just pointless to me.(Which means I was hurt by words before, that's why I tended to be so sarcastic. I used to think I'm not hurt, I just do it to "win" the argument)

Mars in Libra have a particular problem: It'll tend to be the strongest against the weakest , and the weakest against the strongest , it has the tendency of abusing and be abused around the life of the native.
What?
Its like saying that Venus in Virgo, Scorpio, or Aries lacks of capacity to love, and lacks of sense of beauty and esthetic.
It only means that Venus sense of beauty is mercurial, plutonian-martian. But it doesn't makes a person incapable of loving.
Venus makes love in a different way Taurus or Libra suggest to.
But it loves!
A planet in detriment or fall doesn't make you weak or strong, it only works the opposite as it has to. It operates in other way.
Mars in Taurus or Libra will solve conflicts in a Venusian way. And those are people who relate sex with love. Must of the time they have sex with people they really love. As well as Cancer Mars. Must of the time they don't enter in the category of people who can have sex with anybody or people just like but not love.
They are good solving love problems of others, family problems, money problems, they can be excellent match makers, etc.
The bad thing about this is that this Mars (libra, taurus, cancer) doesnt always externalize their anger to others because, Mars in this sign is sensible to what others can feel, in spite you are pissed off. They prefer to take distance and manifest their anger in a passive way for example:
Example:
there is a person pissing your group of friends off.
Your friend that has Mars in Aries will say: Stop or Ill punch you in the face.
The one with Mars in Scorpio will say: Do you want me to rip your head off?
Mars in Capricorn: Will just go and punch him in the face.
the Mars in Libra one: Will just try to dialogue with such person
the Mars in Cancer will: just support he's friends but wont fight.
The Mars in Taurus will: "Poor guy let him alone he must have some problem, so lets go away and ignore him"
You see?
The three friends with Mars in fall and detriment will defend them selves also (but at their way), but not as their confrontational Mars in Cap, Aries, and Scorpio friends do.
The ones with Mars in Libra, Cancer, and Taurus are not defending as Mars suggest to. Mars doesn't dialogue, Care about aggressors feelings, or just ignore them.
Mars in fall or detriment will not go and search for the aggressor to punch him in the face. They will do it if the aggressor come to them personally to bother them. And they will punch them hard!
And in spite someone is being disrespectful, going to punch him in the face at first instance as Mars in domicile or exaltation do. Doesn't mean they are stronger than Mars in detriment or fall that will prefer to fight when they don't have other option.
Other example: Mars in domicile or exaltation will go and say someone in it face: Hey dude! I really don't like you at all!
Mars in detriment or fall will only just avoid or ignore people don't like.
This doesn't makes you the strongest of the weakest, and the weakest of the strongest. There may be other aspect in your chart pointing this. But Im sure its not your Mars.
I will recommend you to check your Moon, or the position of your Saturn too se why you feel like that, maybe check also your 11th house, and 2nd house
V18 - G8t reply! you have explained the detriment/fall info very eloquently!

This is a little far-fetched; Libra and Mars are two different thing. Mars/Ares (God of War) Libra as in the Zodiac. Mars' about War; Libra is Harmony. Mars says welcome Libra welcome to the army; Libra says lets make peace not war. Mars' angry.
But I think 9th house attracts travelers, outsider, foreigner.

I think I've been taking the wrong approach to this. When I was younger I got in a lot of trouble and alot of fights all that I started. I never had am issue asserting myself nor drawing boundaries. I became passive after high school when I stopped being active, but all I had to do was starting exercising again.
Mars in libra and detriments period with mars we tend to need security before action. Mars in libra we sacrifice action for info, wanting to almost know the outcome before we plunge foward. Mars in Taurus they want to act but can't because the things they need aren't there that's why when they start it's intense and longgoing. Haven't been around too many mars in cancer ppl to say.

I agree with Claire-- so much depends on aspects and the house where Mars is doing business.
I have Libran Mars in the 9th, conjunct Uranus, sextile Moon, and opposite Chiron. I was picked on and bullied a lot when I was a little kid, with damage I had to heal from that.
Thanks to the Uranian influence, I have a quick temper and can lash out verbally, and smash or throw things. I never hit (or throw things at) people though, and it blows over just as fast, often followed by an apology and diplomacy. lol And what sets me off? Usually philosophical, religious debates -hello 9th house!
Since I meditate and do self-hypnosis often, such blow ups are rare and I am a mellow character most of the time.
Granted I do get furious in bad traffic too (terrible drivers around here) especially if I happen to be listening to metal, but I have since consciously switched to Mozart or Enya, and dream of remote tropical islands if I know I'm heading into congested areas or rush hour.
On the plus side, this (along with other factors in my chart) has made me artistic and an appreciator of art. I am also romantic and a bit flirtatious, diplomatic, and strive for peace, harmony and fair play.
Now my cousin has Libran Mars conjunct Pluto and his Moon and he is a warrior, buff, beat the **** out of other guys when he was younger, and he is a navy pilot -prides himself on being the 'tip of the spear'. It's gotta be Pluto, and some need to act out or compensate for his insecurity or deeper feeling of weakness.
