I am really at the end of my rope with crisis after crisis arising in my life. after Pluto conjunct my sun (retro for a while within a few degrees) I thought there was nothing else to loose. Now that it is conjunct my ascendant I don't even know who I am or sometime if I even exist. I went from being an MBA holding a prestigious job with a large wall street financial services firm to being nearly homeless and relying on men to support all my financial needs (I am very pretty so I use that to get what I need). I have a near phobia about going back to work because I don't know what to do. I don't know who I am anymore.
So my question... with pluto conjunct my ascendant having such a long period of influence, can anyone tell me how to work with this transit? Bonus round... If anyone could provide any type of positive feedback on opportunities that exist in my chart.
Thank you for taking the time to read my post :)

Pluto is not well integrated in chart, so its power to do good or bad is doubtful. Rightnow, it it acts, it will act in favor, it will require a lot effort and commitment at this point of time and bring a lot changes in personality and attitude.
There are some chances of opportunities coming by mid on next month.

Hi Kathryn,
When I looked at your chart, I felt like I was looking at my own. I was born 11/28/78 at 8:35 a.m. So my planet placements in sign and house are very similiar. I got a reading at an astrology fair about a year ago (?) She told me that my pluto had recently crossed my ascendent as well. She said it was like I had just been released from a concentration camp!
I felt like my childhood was a concentration camp - living with my father. He has natal pluto on his asc. squaring both saturn and mars. Hitler has a similiar configuration in his chart. I think that getting my first job, yes I was quite old, and finally having financial freedom from my father released my imprisoned spirit.
Anyway, back to your chart. Pluto is about rebirth, transformation, starting new. There is always something that dies when pluto comes around. And its usually something that needs to die. Metaphorically of course. This allows us to grow and move into the direction that we need to be going. Many people now are going through this dramatic change. Obviously many others lost their job. And with many its not just a job. Its an identity. And on a more mundane level it pays the bills.
I lost my job too in Jan. of this year. Didn't think it would happen to a social worker in a non-profit mental health organization. However, I have this silly dream of becoming an astrological counselor but had no time to really study it or take formal courses in it. Interesting now, while still looking for work I learned so much more in such a short time.
Ever thought of becoming a financial counselor? Did you recieve information regarding Pell grants available to people that were unemployed?

I am very new at this astrology stuff but I could not help but feel sorry for the challenges you are up against. Your transits seem rough but your natal chart shows many blessings to me.
Part of Fortune in the 8th house can mean gain through inheritance, marriage, partnerships and all 8th house affairs (according to Trish Macgregor). Also with the North Node in the 8th house you may well enjoy good health and a long life. An MBA has certainly prepared you to handle other people's money (as eighth house thing)
Jupiter in the 7th house is a good placement---and may mean blessings through marriage or partnerships. Uranus in the tenth can mean sudden change in your career but persevere and keep involved with astrology as it can assist you through its placement there.
Raven Kaldera has written a great book, Pagan Astrology ,in which she provides prayers for dealing with difficult planetary energies which is very helpful.
I wish you much peace and hope a career opportunity pops up for you real soon.
Blessings

Hello katastro. Even though your nick would assume that you are a walking catastrophe, I dare to differ. :) We all go through these methamorphosis that you are going through now and if it makes you any happier - if or WHEN you survive this, you probably never have to go through anything too much similar.
But there are few things that caught my eye. You have Mars tightly conjunct your ascendant and it forms few very nice aspects to your Moon and Saturn. These aspect definitely make it easier for you. The biggest things you have to be careful with Pluto transiting your Mars, is that do not get obsessed with things. You will probably get some new ideas and new ways of coping and acting, but remember that even though you are terrified and you would like to hold on to those little things that you have, just don't. It just makes it harder to let get when Pluto decides that it's now time to let go of those things also.
Especially when Pluto is transiting Ascendant and because you have Mars on it, I think it's very important for you to understand and learn things about relationships. I just read a book about Pluto (Gods of change) and it warns that during the time of pluto transit, do not try anything illegal, cause you WILL get caught with it and also, do not try to control people around you. This is very important especially in your case. Even though everything seems to collide around you and relationships seem like the only holding force in your life, you must remember that also relationships need to grow, change and sometimes be let go of. You cannot control anything really in this life and you should not try to. If you try, you will get into a huge amount of trouble and that's not the fault of Pluto anymore. ;)
Also because of the Mars, your energies can go totally up or totally down at this time. There could be a time of total depression and a time of ultimate happiness. You could find doing some MODERATE excersice (cause pluto does not like moderation) very valuable this time that you could release all the energy that you have rushing through you.
You have a great learning experience going on and because you have already gone through the conjunction to your Sun, this will probably not be as traumatic anymore. Probably you will go through the same themes as that time, but now it takes form in a bit different places in your life.
I hope you nothing but the best! :kissing:

I was born with Pluto conjunct Ascendant. Even when things look like a crisis and catastrophe, I somehow get through it by the skin on my backside.

katastro, what you've described is very typical of Pluto conjunctions and squares. Pluto demands a profound makeover--often taking away who you thought you were. After a while, you realize what a survivor you are! And that you have far more depth than the limited view of yourself you once had. And that this transit has given you strengths you never knew you had.
I note that Pluto is also trining [favourably aspecting] your Chiron, conjunct your IC or 4th house of home cusp. This might be a good time for you to move and look for jobs some ways away from where you are. Nobody can promise good results, just that you might find some Plutonian impetus behind a move at this time.
And as the Hindus put it, "This too shall pass." Think of people like dperez born with this conjunction!

You gotta lot of advice. So I'm giving you more. Take it all but only listen to your own.
I am really at the end of my rope ... I don't know what to do. I don't know who I am anymore.
This is just temporary. All the answers are inside of you. The reason you are having these crises is so that you do something about it. Not only is Pluto transiting the Ascendant, it is transiting Mars. Therefore, it is concentrating your Mars energy. Do something.
So my question... with pluto conjunct my ascendant having such a long period of influence, can anyone tell me how to work with this transit? The effects of Pluto creep up but aren't sudden like Uranus. Pluto is like a volcano & you'll have ample notice cause it builds up slowly over time. You should've started to feel the effects ages ago, so think back to what it means & take action. You can't really go against anything, so let go & let Pluto.
And once you've gotten rid of what you don't need, start rebuilding your life.

Pluto is not an easy planet , i have a well aspected Pluto in my natal chart and yet it is difficult to handle because it involves some "letting go" issues in your life.

Hi Katastro,
You're posting this was very inspiring for me! Thanks for it.
Pluto is 2 degrees away from conjuncting my own asc through transit, and will be doing so while Saturn is in retrograde through my 8th house. Mars is also conjunct my ASC, though not as tightly as yours, Neptune is also there. Pluto is natally conjunct my MC.
You just had your progressed moon cross over your natal pluto, in the tenth house. When I had this I uncovered repressed memories on incest, and had to drop one of majors so as to still graduate from college. You have Saturn in the 8th house for your progressed chart, which forces you to examine Pluto-related issues. Once Pluto crosses over your ASC and gets into your first house, things will be easier because there will finally be some clarity and light shed on the situation.
I think sometimes the best thing to do with strong Pluto is to admit you're scared, and then simply scream bloody murder your whole way down the huge rollercoaster drop (and not easy for us Capricorn ASC). Then, when it's all over, you'll shake it off and maybe sort of feel like doing it again.
At least that's what I'm telling myself.
Good luck to you love.

With a Pluto transit you have to shed your old skin - let go and find out whats truly valuable and necessary for yourself. Especially with it on the ascendant or descendant you may very well encounter the dark side of peoples' desire for power and need to find your own power without succumbing to the dark side. Its important to face the negative but not to wallow in it. If you do that - you find your power. Particularly since Mars is also involved, stay away from negative ego-obsessed people. Its a great time to get involved in something physically expressive but not risk-taking like dancing or biking (you can take those things up even if you have little money). Its also a good time to study self-mastery and metaphysics - transformative arts. You may find more fulfillment and security there than you ever did in your job. And don't forget to check out where Pluto and Mars are in your birthchart and what houses they rule (scorpio, aries) - affairs of those houses will come into play. For example, I have a friend who has pluto natally in the 3rd house (house of neighbors and siblings, etc.) and they have pluto transitting the 7th house and got into a lawsuit (7th house matter) involving their siblings regarding family finances. Good luck to you.
Let me say, "I feel your pain" - and it's not just a Neptune/Moon opposition talking.

It could be worse. I keep telling myself that. The sun and MC could be aspecting even more planets, somehow.
I keep telling myself that there is some divine order to it all, that I musta thought (between lives) it would be a funny joke if I had to go through this when I am turning 33, just to not miss the point. Seems like crucifixion is a bit quicker, though.
It seems there is an intense and enormous amount of power involved with the people who incarnate in such a way as to experience these transits. Particularly the Pluto/Sun. There must be some opportunity involved, some way to harness all that power.
I think we are Phoenixes. We will resurrect in a more authentic, more powerful, and better form. After all the burning everything up is done. . .
I keep telling myself this. I can really identify with "nothing left to lose" lemme tell you.
But we're still breathing, and writing on Astrology forums.
At least I am, at five in the morning, on the off days I'm not spending the night in a car.
Maybe not sleeping, maybe not eating, maybe not going through more than a week without a nervous breakdown, but breathing. Living.
Breathe.
Breathe.
Breathe.
I hope the tide is beginning to turn for you. (and someday will for me, too.)
Gratitude for what we have, what we are, and what we will become.

Hi Katastro,
I had Pluto transiting ASC few years ago and it is still in my 1st house. Although it brought some challenges, I must say that in the end, it made me stronger and deeper. Pluto conj ASC asks you to question your identity (ASC), thatīs why you currently feel like not knowing who you are.
Of course you know, but need to dig deep within to find it.
Think of it as the Phoenix rising, some false views you have must die in order for your sense of self to be reborn - and then youīll see the strenght!!
Do you know the song by U2 " Walk on" from the album "All that you canīt leave behind"? During this transit you may discover that there are lots of things that you can and must leave behind. This may be painful. But nothing that is TRULY yourself will be taken from you.

My natal chart has Pluto conjunct Ascendant in Libra and I feel as though I am always in the transformation process. Like a phoenix I feel like Pluto rises from the ashes and brings "new" appearances or opportunities or challenges into my life, however, only to then start again sooner or later. Pluto conjunct Ascendant (to me) signifies the renewal and transformation of your outward appearance, character or how you appear to self and possibly how you react (1st house) or a restructuring of self-reflection(12th house). Also, for me I seem to bring changes to others' lives that often sets events off and brings about a temporary unbalancing effect, but always seems to balance itself out in the end~
my natal chart is Asc. 7deg Libra
Pluto 8deg Libra (1st house)

you're being asked to restructure your values and change how you think. learning tai chi may help bring back your balance and help alter your mind to change your perspective on how you view work/your job.

I also have Pluto conj Asc in Libra. Ups and downs, transformation, pheonix rising - jp, here, too. But always on some new level. I see it more like ability to be on both extrems of yin and yang, and learn the best and the worst, the negative and positive in everything. Perhaps hard, but deep and in a long run one of the best lessons on balancing and accepting life through constant changes.
Does anyone perhaps has this feeling that you somehow "see trough people"?

With a Pluto conjunct Ascendant transit, do any events of a life-changing or life-altering nature (for example, a major move or something like that) have long-lasting effects if they occur under this transit?
