Hello I'm new to this site, so I hope I'm posting in the right place.

I recently had my chart read and it was noted that I had two fixed stars, Markab and Vindemiatrix. I have had an interest in astrology for years but had not learnt about fixed stars. The astrologer said she was using the equal house system, which was also new to me, as I had only ever explored my chart using the Placidus system - chart attached. Her interpretation also meant that some of my planet positions changed from 9th to the 8th. These fixed stars influence seems very negative and along with 8th house positions, I was left feeling a bit confused and also unnerved given what I've read about these two stars. http://www.constellationsofwords.com/Fixedstars.htm
I am not too sure whether they seem to 'fit' either. Financially things haven't been good and she suggested this would always be the case. Needless to say this was pretty disheartening. I am just seeking a second opinion on my chart, not necessarily expecting a different, more positive one.

Thanks.

fixed stars aren't used that much anymore...but bernadette brady is an astrologer who investigates this area of astrology

http://www.skyscript.co.uk/books.html#sc and some more stuff here might be a good place to start with fixed stars...

I am not big on astrologers making big statements on what will or wont happen in regards a chart....there are so many millions of things that can express the energy. In hindsight things seem very clear...that is how it has helped me...in explaining what has happened so I am not as likely to make the same mistakes again....and more likely to repeat the good stuff.

You have sun exhalted in aries near the top of the chart...good....venus in ruler taurus, also good. Jupiter is combust (close to the sun) which can leesen its impact. All charts are a mix of all kinds of things.

Learning more about astrology yourself will help you to be more discerning regarding readings.....as there are as many who lead you astray as guide you with wise words.

I can't tell you how much I appreciate your input and considerate objectivity. I haven't joined a forum before and this site has been a revelation in terms of learning and exploring new astrological perspectives. It's also very kind of you to have taken the time to reply to me. As a journey of discovery, increasingly I have come to reaslise just how extensive the study of astrology is and just how very little I know in relation to it all. Thanks again.
