I noticed so many members here add their NN sabian symbol line to the signature. So I got curious about mine and looked at sabian symbols at http://www.cafeastrology.com/sabiansymbols_degreemeanings.html.

And now what? What are these images for and how are they used?

Fyi, that's a result of the following thread, IWonder :-
http://www.astrologyweekly.com/forum/showthread.php?t=22156

...What are these images for and how are they used?
My view on this is given in post #27 of that thread :-

The symbol itself gives us a picture of the meaning of the degree.....which we then explore further, using the right-brain/imagination/free-association, to (hopefully) get a deeper understanding of any planet/point located there than we might achieve by using our left-brain only......[It doesn't always work for me, but practicing the technique has improved my ability to synthesise a chart.]

According to Flea's thread where she asked everyone to join in putting their Sabian Symbol in their signature, it was supposed to be in the month of February. Now that its March, I changed mine again:) I am planning to change my signature every month, and maybe my Avatar as well.

Darn it. Just as I thought about adding mine to the signature, it is already too late. So what's March experiment?

I think its quite interesting.... I can relate to much of these symbols in my life, strangely enough! I thought it was just nonsense, but when I read them for planets etc it kind of makes some weird sense:biggrin:

AC - 2-3 deg Gemini
The Garden Of The Tuileries In Paris (Ive been to Paris, and lived a year in France)

Mars - 20-21 deg Virgo
A Girls' Basketball Team (I used to play basketball as a teenager, girls team)

Venus - 25-26 deg Virgo
A Boy With A Censer Serves The Priest Near The Altar (I served at the catholic alter as a child)

Moon - 28-29 deg Virgo
A Seeker After Occult Knowledge Is Reading An Ancient Scroll Which Illumines His Mind (I am an occult seeker, and had some enlightments....)

Sun - 19-20 deg Libra
A Rabbi Performing His Duties (not sure?)

Mercury - 3-4 deg Scorpio
A Youth Carries A Lighted Candle In A Devotional Ritual (enlightment also?)

MC - 17-18 deg Capricorn
The Union Jack Flag Files From A British Warship (Im part British....)

NN -
9-10 deg Taurus
A Red Cross Nurse (Im a med. student, but used to study nursing and got my "calling" when I went to nurses school)

Ah Vagabondgirl, that is really nice how you did this:) We could follow this example, shall we?

Asc. 26° Scorpio: American Indians making camp in new territory (I moved my whole live from one "camp" to another and having to adjust psychologically to a new environment.

Sun 15 Taurus: A man with a silk hat, muffled against the cold, braves a storm.
I can identify with that too. I do, in times of trouble, put on my "silk hat", showing an optimistic attitude of confidence and hope for the future.

I will leave it at that, but the other symbols are also quite revealing in my case:)

Wow, Haizea, it is really interesting how the theme is repeating itself. How does it show in real life?

I think I have a repeating theme too, but not as much:

NN - 14 Sagittarius - The Great Pyramid And The Sphinx
Asc - 27 Sagittarius - A Sculptor At His Work
Mars - 6 Libra - A Man Watches His Ideals Taking A Concrete Form Before His Inner Vision
Neptune -8 Sagittarius - Within The Depths Of The Earth New Elements Are Being Formed

Starlink, my Moon is on your Asc:
Moon - 26 Scorpio - American Indians Making Camp After Moving Into A New Territory

The rest of my degrees is a mix of barely related images, but this totally stands out:

Sun - 28 Virgo - A Baldheaded Man Who Has Seized Power (:andy:)

Did anyone try to follow progressed planets through sabian symbols? I tried to see where my Sun and Moon were at important turns of my life... Nothing makes sense.

What about transits? Does degree of transiting planet help understand transit influence? Did anyone try to see?

How do you know if it it is 10-11 og 11-12 degrees, when you have an aspect at 11? (As my NN in Gimini).

LittleMiss, if a planet (or node, or angle) is between 10'00" to 10'59" then it is in the 11th degree. You choose 10-11 degree symbol. If your NN is at 11'00", I'd look at 11-12 degree symbol, because there are 11 full degrees, and seconds already count towards the 12th degree.

I look at sabian symbols a lot. I generally always look at the angles and arabic parts, as well as, planets. I never look at transits, but I have looked at where my personal planets have progressed to at times.

Did anyone try to follow progressed planets through sabian symbols?
Perahaps these need to be looked at as "3 symbol combinations", IW...exact, and the symbol on either side of it (to allow for the 1 degree orb of influence".

My current progressed Sun at 29Capricorn42 is exactly qcx natal Uranus in Gemini/9th (on MC) and exactly sextile natal Chiron in Scorpio/3rd, forming a temporary yod......So, last year's symbol was Cap 29; next year's is Aquarius 1 and the current one is Cap 30.....And on pages 269 and 270 of his book The Sabian Symbols in Astrology, Marc Edmund Jones suggests that the positve meaning of each of these is :-

Capricorn 29......naive insight as brought to high intelligence in meeting the current issues of life.

Capricorn 30.....a gift for clever planning and successful administration in every area of life.

Aquarius 1.......effective breadth of vision and a respect-compelling depth of character.

Unfortunately I cannot claim to actually be acting in accordance with these interpretations, but I can see how they fit the astrologically intended unfolding of my temporary yod......Last year was about realising how my Chiron fear of manipulation prevents my ideas being "heard" by those in a position to implement them......This year should have been about getting my ideas "heard.....and next year would been about getting respect for those ideas......Thus achieving the Yod's Uranus apex objective of "changing my world/group".

...What about transits? Does degree of transiting planet help understand transit influence? Did anyone try to see?
My guess is that Sabian Symbols can be used to understand transits, in the same way as outlined above for progressions.

EJ53.....I also wonder WHICH is most accurate for our degrees. It seems most go UP to the next one and I do have to admit I have always felt two angels with me....which is my Sun sign Virgo 2 48 rounding up to 3.

Haizea......my Uranus on your rising...hopefully electric conversation or enlightment. lol.

Starlink....my north node/south nodes are the same as yours just reversed. You got the exalted position and I got the sucky ones. lol.
I've often wondered if that means I am my own worst enemy in achieving
my goals. But either way I plow ahead.

It's not that I'm not interested in Crystals....I am woefully lacking in understanding them and have much to learn. I know that many wonderful medicines come from natures resources so I don't discount their effectiveness. Just this weekend....DUE to this info I obtained from this site....I ordered the stone for my Venus sign. I wanted the one for my Mercury but it's only found in Israel from King Solomons mines...next payday perhaps....or longer actually because I get to head home to Texas this Friday for 10 days to see my kids and grandkids. I have a hunch I'll be spending money while there. lol. Tho I LOVE the color for My Mercury stone....I am a turquoise, aqua, jade color scheme gal from way back. It's why I chose my current avatar. Folks see my closet and ask if I have enough of those colors. lol.

Iwonder....that's a great idea about trying it out on our progressed and perhaps solar returns as well.

Guess I'd best get back to work. lol. I'm being a bad Virgo!

That "rounded-up" degree is the correct/most accurate one for Sabian Symbols, Amy.

...I was unaware of this thread till just now...I haven't read all the posts...but, so far that I have, I noticed no one mentioning that the Position of the N. Node symbolically indicates the common mass karma of those souls born together during that time window.
I just posted a relevent piece on my "Birth Chart of Jesus?" thread in the Sabian sub-forum...by my chart His N. Node was in the 14th degree of Scorpio. "TELEPHONE LINEMEN BUSY INSTALLING NEW CONNECTIONS. Keynote: The need to establish new channels of communication."
...mine makes sense to me as well...and so have all the N. Node symbology for everyones' chart I've analyzed of whom I'm more than causually acquainted...the symbolic analysis process works...!!!

...ps, interestingly the Sun just entered the 19th degree of Pisces...need I say it?

Oh gosh, I did not know that and I also have a bit of trouble understanding this. What exactly can be called our time window`? The year we were born or the day we were born? And do all those souls with the same Node carry the same karma?

...the commonality of that particular degree of the Zodiac does represent a common mass destiny due to karmic obligations [whether those obligations all arose from the same 'past' is up for speculation...]

...as I indicated...I can see a 'link' between retro-planets [most specifically Pluto] and how this is to be achieved...

... I'm willing to demonstrate an example for anyone willing to submit their natal chart...[now this is an empirical theory...one that must be put to 'the test' and observed...but I think most, if not everyone, will see what I mean...ptv]

Oh me too please....if you would! My natal chart is in my signature as well. AND you mentioned earlier in this thread about the 19th degree of Pisces? That would be my Sabian symbol for my rising sign.

I do know that the best placement of a north node is Gemini 3 degrees...so I must have mine in the sign of fall or detriment as that's my south node placement.

...what Pluto is trying to manifest, 'transformationally', is "A VOLUNTEER CHURCH CHOIR SINGING RELIGIOUS HYMMS. Keynote: The felling of togetherness which unites men and women in their dedication to a collective ideal. [Keyword] TOGETHERNESS."

...your N. Node, [why the Cosmos is trying to achieve this, as per how it relates to the society of mankind.] is "Riches that come from linking the celestial to the earthly nature"...Keyword... "COMMUNION".

...Pluto returns back to 15th degree of Leo, representing the additional energy that Pluto requires to achieve the result indicated by the symbolism of the 'Impasse'..."A PAGENT, WITH ITS SPECTACULAR FLOATS, MOVES ALONG A STREET CROWDED WITH CHEERING PEOPLE. Keynote: The more of less sensational release of enegies in a form dramatizing the unconscious aspirations of mans' primitive and instinctual nature."
It's about "...individuals...able to give a public [keyword] DEMONSTRATION of...ability [abilities] to sway the multitudes by a dramatic presentation..."

...The N. Node (in Aries 26) at this time indicates the "WHY" for this additional energy...."A MAN POSESSED OF MORE GIFTS THAN HE CAN HOLD. Keynote: Obession of potentiality...[Keyword] a WARNING."

...when Pluto made its final retun the N. Node was in the 18th of Aries...(so)the big overall "WHY' to world society is sybolically..."AN EMPTY HAMMOCK, STRECTCHED BETWEEN TWO TREES....backing off...taking time to relax and assess...and thus finding out how to be..."LIVING RHYTHMICALLY"

...this represents symbolically what you & those individuals born in this same time window are trying (or karmically obliged) to achieve.

[...let me know what your impressions are from this.]

This is complex, ptv......But, if I understand it correctly, my karmic group are attempting (NN Taurus 4) to spiritually enrich society through the pursuit of a collective ideal (Pluto 17) demonstrated to the masses by suitably able individuals (Pluto Leo 15) who must be wary of how they use those abilities (NN Aries 26) with the ultimate aim of persuading others to be more relaxed/tolerant (NN Aries 18).

To me, this says we are a group who must deliver our collective message of "tolerance" by personal example/demonstration rather than preaching......which I certainly believe, but cannot claim to exemplify......[However, I know others who are good examples of this......So, well done ptv!]

EJ53...are you aware of my thread in the Mundane sub-forum about Mars retro in '67?
Thanks for the heads-up, ptv......That thread clarifies the process for me, as I have fond memories of the ""Summer of Love".

Interestingly though, I see that Mars message of love as one step towards the wider Pluto message of tolerance...The playing of the Mars card, rather than a glimpse of the whole hand held by Pluto.
