What rules Cats?

Planet: Mercury?(as it rules the H6) Neptune(just a guess)

AquariusT, I am wondering whether you are looking at Horary Astrology or Natal modern Astrology. In traditional and Horary astrology it is the 6th for all animals smaller than a goat (William Lilly) and the 12th house for all animals larger than a goat:)

In modern natal astrology it is as far as I know not really defined as such.
The 6th is for health and service to others in modern and for illness and small animals in traditional. Hope I am saying this correctly, but having started out with modern astrology, I never really had a cat, dog or any other small animal referred to as a 6th house thing.

You really cannot say that Virgo's hate cats, Taurusses love icecream, and all Leo's prefer gold to silver. Those are generalisations. One Virgo might like a cat, another doesnt for various reasons. It is certainly not a Virgo thing to hate cats:)

Of course you are right! Can you imagine all the Virgo hates cats? :) That's why Starlink I asked from Virgo to answer that. But I meet lot of Virgo's who hates cats. That's why I said that. I am not sure if I read it this somewhere but I will search about it.

Me neither. It seems to me that they are more of a Leo and 5th house theme in modern astrology. Same house of children, pleasures and fun.

I am virgo, sun, asc, and 4 planets, i love cats to bits, in fact, love them more than some people lol

i like all pets, i guess i am just an animal lover.

I am a Virgo and I LOVE cats. They are beautiful, graceful, independent, intuitive and love you back even if you don't give them treats. Never considered a mess. Cats are clean (provided that you potty trained them). Dogs are messier for that matter - they shed, they smell, they mess up covers when going for a nap. I love them too and have both, actually.

I think 6th house is service animals. Is your dog to guard the house? Your cat to catch mice? If it is just a pet, a companion, it falls under 5th house of unconditional love.

em a virgo moon & i too like cats. they're shoo furry & cute.lazy bums though.
i think the signs not a big fan of dawgs as iwonder said but i wuvvv dogs.
i think cats are mercurial & fall in the 6H of small pets

The Vedic rule (which works well with Western) is that animals smaller than a goat are the Sixth House, animals larger than a goat are the Twelfth (no idea where the goats go). I once had a client with a well-aspected 12th House ruler, and Venus in the Twelfth... and Saturn in the Sixth and a badly-aspected Sixth House ruler. She could never keep a dog or cat... but was an otherwise-successful horse trainer.

Leo is the big cat and I suppose the smaller ones too, and Virgo and the 6th house of domestic animals. So SUn in Virgo would do it or Mercury in Leo.
I have a 6th house stellium in Leo including the Mercury, ruler of the 6th and cats feature in my life all the time especially around the house even when they are not mine.

Dogs belong more to Jupiter and Sagittarius especially the bigger ones that have freedom and are outdoors. All general domestic animals belong with the 6th house and Virgo...

Besides that, H6 is the animals you keep which could make money and serve for you, cat eats mouse and dog guards the house, they are all a kind of servant for you.Something under your control most of the time.

From ancient Egypt, cats (and the cat goddest Bastet, aka Bast) were associated with the Sun; as a complete animal group in my consideration of felines (from tabby's to leopards and lions) I follow the Egyptians in allocating the Sun as their planetary ruler (I currently have 5 cats)

6th for domestic cats and Virgo rules them. The big cats are more Sagittarius and Jupiter especially in the wild. Leo is the sign of the big cat but imagine a connection to all cats is possible.

In days gone by the "witch" who was often a herbalist and healer had her "familiar" her companion cat.. she often lived alone ...This is 6th house and Virgo stuff.....

I think that the 12th deals with compassion and caring for all creatures and Jupiter is co ruler of the ruler Pisces after all.... The 9th particularly deals with those in a circus and of exotic species.

From Medieval astrology, all small cats are ruled by Saturn. The Sun rules lions, Jupiter rules tigers, Mars rules leopards. Domestic cats are assigned to the sixth house with other small animals. A sign is less certain, but Aquarious due to independence and shrewdness. However, Rex E. Bills lists Venus and Virgo for cats.

I have Saturn in Virgo in the fourth house and have always had cats around. One is trying to get my attention right now. I am leaving for work shortly, and she does not want me to go and will greet me when I arrive home. There is another cat, but it wants very little attention.

I have mercury in Sagittarius in 3rd house (environment, communication) and I've been told this makes me have the need to talk to animals because it's easier to express my emotions to them.. I also have Virgo in my 11th house, and although it's been mentioned on here already cats relating to the 12th house/6th house and what not, I just noticed now that I indeed have Virgo in the 11th (love received, goals, wishes)

I've always longed for a cat, and considered myself a cat person, and when I was really little we adopted a cat from the pound and it was vicious and would scratch my face whenever I looked at it... so we got rid of it.
Since then I longed for a kitten of my own; miraculously in 2008 a friend of mine's cat was pregnant and refused to be the lifeguard for the birthing process, so I went over to do that myself... from the whole litter there was 2 calicos and 2 greys and just one tuxedo tabby (white mittens, belly) and I fell in love with the white eyeliner this baby had. About a month later the baby kitten became mine.. she was born an Aries, and I have Aries in my 6th house (duties, day to day activities, pets)

Now after living on my own, she became the only animal in the house (previously there was 2 big dogs, so she had lost a lot of energy moving solo into our apartment) and that's when I decided it was the right time frame to get another cat, so they could have the same energy level once they both became adults.

I did research and fell in love AGAIN with Bengal cats in particular... then began the search for a breeder in my area. I took into consideration the zodiac perspective for my Aries cat, and was aiming for an Aquarius partner, but none seemed to fit the bill around the time of the year it was. I found lots of Pisces kittens online but figured that might be disasterous for my hot-headed independent cat...
that's when I came across this picture;

and was taken away from the racing stripe on the marble bengal you see. I voyaged to get this one shortly after, and she is a Taurus with moon in Virgo; very loyal and does not get phased when my other cat decides to have a hiss fit and get upset so quickly because she thinks she owns the place.

It turned out to be a wonderful combination... being there for my first cats birth, as a miracle of the picture-esque kitten I've always wanted.. (Aries cat & my 6th house Aries) and through the zodiac preference when shopping for my second, finding a great feline match (Taurus/Virgo cat & my 8th house [investments] in Taurus, and my 11th house [love received, goals, wishes] in Virgo) :biggrin:

And after seeing on here leopards ruled by Mars, Bengal cats are derived from the Asian Leopard Cat so that's also kind of neat that I have Mars in Taurus in the 8th house. woo !
