Body Modification.

I love body modification. Tattoos and piercings are what I'm talking about; they are the most common types of body modification in the West. Another thread got me thinking about the placements and/or aspects that may give an appreciation for this form of art. What is your opinion? To start, I'll use my chart as an example.

Firstly, I am of the Pluto in Scorpio generation, which I believe was from 1983 to 1995. Certainly us younger folks are more open to this, as it is more common for someone under 30 than over to have tattoos and piercings, besides ear piercing. The most obvious interpretation of Pluto/Scorpio is "transformation", so Pluto in Scorpio would really emphasize that. Could body mod be considered a "transformation"? I think so.

Secondly, we could look at where Pluto/Scorpio falls in the natal chart. I have Scorpio Rising conjunct Pluto in the 1st. This again is fairly straightforward: the 1st represents the body, self-image, and first impressions.

Thirdly is Venus. I have it in Aquarius (in the 4th). Could this bring a strange/unusual sense of aesthetic? Where would that tie into the body?

My main point is, the Pluto in Scorpio, and Pluto in the 1st, influences are very obvious. What about people who dont have these aspects, but who have "modified their body"? I'm asking everyone to share their opinions on what aspects/placements could influence a person to pursue this form of art. I'm especially interested in people over thirty, because they do not have Pluto in Scorpio.

Im over 30 with a tattoo. Do you know the statistics of people over 30 compared to under? I would think it would be about the same. Well here in Aus anyway... lol or people that I know. Maybe the piercing are of more a younger generation.

Maybe you are right about looking at the Asc, I have Aries there and maybe subconsiously I wanted to be seen when I got the tattoo. Maybe it would show up in transits when the tattoo or piercing was put on. I cant remember the date of when I got mine and I dont think I can even remember the year :-(

hey,
well i don't go too far with it (saturn in the 1st) but i do enjoy getting piercings. ive had both my traguses done multiple times (i always let my hoels close then i repierce them i'm lame like that haha) and i had my lobes gauged to a 0 for almost 10 years. i have been looking into redoing them but i'm not sure if my dire need for tattoos and repiercings lately is my uranus opp sun transit haha. anyway ima also a scorpio rising with pluto in scorpio exactly conjunct my ascendant. so kinda interesting we have that in common in our charts and personalities. BUT i dont like piercings on my face (except a tiny nose diamond stud or something) i like to look VERY feminine but with a teeny bit of an edge :biggrin: guess thats my venus in libra+virgo sun that wants a lot of femininity. :love:

i've always secretly wanted a sleeve but again i think my saturn in the first is what stopped me when like 10 of my friends got both their arms totally tatted.
ANYWAY yeah i think your venus in aquarius may have something to do with it. mars rules needles so maybe u can look at what house and sign your mars is in (other than it being our ascendant's co-ruler) but i duno if that means anything.

I have a tattoo and a few piercings, I like to think of that as my rebellious ways when I was 15-16.
I sort of wish I hadnt of gotten the tattoo. I think that it represents a time in my life in which I was making a statement, and now I am over it.

I am 30 and have pluto in Scorpio in the 7-8th house, very close to the 8th.

I think it was more of me following a trend rather than me making something for myself to enjoy.

Tatoos & piercings... I would have to think Venus in Scorpio. Venus is one's sense of beauty, and Scorpio rules all things related to transformation, and therefore physical transformation as well.
