View Full Version : Question about the mean node in synastry and karma

I never really paid attention to the mean node before. I usually just looked at the true node, but I was looking today at my chart in synastry with a friend's chart. (I don't want to post this person's chart). My mean south node (in my 7th house, but ends up in his first house in synastry) is exact his sun. (8 50'22" Gemini) This is all conjunct my DC.

Does that mean this is a powerfully karmic relationship? Is it possible to learn from this person how to reach my north node?

It probably is karmic, but that's not (astrologically) relevant.

His Sun will pull you towards your South Node.......Thus, he exemplifies the beliefs and behaviours that you need to use less in order to achieve your North Node aim......So, you can learn from him what not to do if striving to reach your North Node.

Having your NN in the first house and on Ascendant means you are learning to be assertive/independent......His Sun on your DC/SN aims to make you dependent on him rather than yourself...So by refusing to allow yourself to become reliant on him, you will be working towards your North Node goal.

Thank you so much. That's pretty spot on. I am learning to really love myself and to be self reliant. In the past I was co dependent, but we have been learning to be friends now with my more independent newfound self and I like it much better. It's more positive and healthy :)

I think I read somwhere that people with suns etc that conjuncts your south node, are people you feel familiar with, that it can be a kind of karmic connection there, but that it also is likely that during your relationship with them you are the one who feel the need to move on. That they can come to bore you in a way, or perhaps be like a nice familiar safe place, that prevents you from developing in the right direction if you are not contious about this.

I have a few people in my life, not close friends but people I know with sun near my SN, and I don't like them a whole lot. We'll I LIKE them, but they are not the most interesting people to me... It's kind of strange...

Hi EJ! I have my SN in the 1st house and only now (at our age) have begun to be a bit more independent. But I still dont dare to go on vacation alone or travel without someone accompanying me. So what is this? My Saturn in 9 square my Mercury? I just cannot imagine myself without a partner, even though I sometimes wish to be alone.
For the rest I do everything alone, up till my investments...

This is indeed unexpected, Star......With SN in Sagittarius/1, I'd expect travel to be an area where you would be very independent......So, I guess this SN is telling us that you are independent in your beliefs/philosophy......and maybe you are the one who decides where the vacation will be.

Perhaps this need for company when travelling is more about physical security than dependence?

Ha ha, good one, yes, you could say that! I also most of the time suggest, not decide, where to go on vacation and partner always likes the suggestions so no problem there:) Yes, very strange, like you said, in Sagittarius. There must be another explanation for that South Node as well I guess.
