I have been thinking about Karma and soul purpose, I was looking at my boyfriends chart and he has his South Node in the 12th house. I have read that the 12th house can represent past lives, and with the South Node placed there which also links to your past this has to have extra significance.

He has his South Node in Cancer
Saturn placed in Cancer
The Moon also placed in the 12th house

This has to represent family karma in some way I think.

He has N.N in Capricorn in the 6th
Sun in Virgo
Jupiter in 6th house
Sun in the 2nd house trines Mars in the tenth house

This has to represent his direction, his purpose in this lifetime. Career and service.

I am not sure how to interpret this if anyone has any insights this would be helpful. I learnt from cassie on this forum to look out for repeated themes in the chart, I had loads of repeated themes in my birth chart, and there seems to be similar themes playing out in my boyfriends chart too.

Dear Ms.Saturn,

I too have south node in my 12th house-SCORPIO. = ). Apparently I was a manipulator in my past life. 12 house does deal with past lives/karma. Your man should be very careful to not fall prey to the negative qualities of Cancer. He should strive to cultivate the positives of capricorn.

"A tendency to be overly attached to our childhood and past, to be dependent on others and avoid accepting responsibility for our lives, to fear rejection to an extreme thereby missing opportunities, and to be overly focused on emotional problems are some of the issues this position suggests. With this position, we need to take charge of our lives and accept responsibility for our actions. We may too easily blame our past or focus on our insecurities and emotional difficulties instead of moving forward and learning to depend on ourselves."-http://www.cafeastrology.com/nodesofthemoon.html

A great explanation of the meaning of that South Node for me. I had been looking round for a detailed explanation on it but they were only ever a couple of lines.

I will add more comments on this tomorrow becuse I think it is very accurate. I best go get some beauty sleep now.:)

I have the opposite nodal position--sixth house Virgo South Node/twelfth house Pisces North Node.

Although many of tendencies described in this excerpt are quite foreign to me, especially the dependence upon others, I recognized several commonalities:

to fear rejection...We want to feel secure more than anything...we must learn to strike a balance between sensitivity and responsibility...financial and emotional security that we so crave.

This is the information I have on the Virgo/6th house SN and Pisces/12th house NN by Judy Hall/Past life Astrology

You already know a lot of this but it can't hurt to have more information.

That sort of explains all your hard Saturn placements to personal planets, you want to finish your Karma off. I have always felt such heavy lessons this lifetime myself. I am learning the opposite to you I have South Node in Pisces and North Node in Virgo. I am learning to discriminate more and have more order and grounding in my life. To help use all my Pisces energy properly.

The emphasis has gone from spiritual concerns to everyday concerns with the 6th house NN and in Capricorn especially. May have been Mother Superior in the cloisters before or devoted life to those in need or incapacitated in some way. Leading a closeted reclusive life rather. This time will have to concentrate on everyday work and being practical and can mean working with the earth in some way, farming, mining, retail, housing, food and perhaps connected to the government. Everyday rituals and service plus employment in general is emphasised this time around.
The trick is to use both SN and NN coming from the familiar and incorporate it in to the new path this time around, the polar opposite. This will give him great satisfaction and meaning to his life. The nodes in my opinion are not given great enough recognitions by many and can enlighten our purpose here like no other placement.

Cheers
